This area is truly beautiful. It's 15 minutes away from town. There is a post office and a General store! The general store has a good selection of product but be aware that things here are a little pricey--a cup of top ramen runs at 2.50. There is also a pretty big park here and several chapels that have services for every religion. During the winter season the Rustic Cafe is open as well as Aspen dinning. They offer a varying, homestyle menue.
There is a Craft & Design building(if you make the smallest cup there you're going to pay about 12.00). There is also a place that offers rock rock climbing. You can buy hiking gear and over at the Longhouse there is a huge roller rink.

Love this place for spring break! So many options for lodging and activities. Staff from all over are fun and friendly and some are there from year to year and recognize you even though they see thousands of faces!

FAMILIES PLANNING ON STAYING - PLEASE READ THIS!
It was the first YMCA location I stayed at, the second being Camp Fitch, which is out across the country in PA.

The things I liked about the resort is how many activities they have to offer, like they had a Gaga pit, tennis courts, mini golf, cleanliness of the rooms, kind and caring staff, and the overall feel. However the rooms have a more nastalgic feel and a camp-like feel.

The things I didn't really like is the rooms. The rooms are very small and in our room we were left with two bunk beds (I slept on the top bunk, really nice sleeping experience, hallways are always quiet, that's a good thing), we had a queen bed near the window, and a small bathroom with a tiny shower. The rooms were very sanitary, and in good condition. Another big issue to me was swimming. We registered but the lifeguard said that we had to get registered by a parent, and that's a major issue, and we were required a swim test, and we were like no thanks! What gives your staff a one hour rest break? It's absurd!

Amazing value for money with a huge range of free and paid for activities. Came for two nights to visit the national park nearby and wish we had longer.

Staying in hostel room with 6 beds, it's basic but it has its own shower and is comfortable. There is no fridge but we needed one to keep medicine in and it was in the room before we got there.

This is a great base for exploring the area.

The included food is horrible and looks/tastes like slop. There is a better cafeteria to eat from but it's cash only and $24 per adult for diner. No close by eateries and no delivery other than domino's. Accommodations are bare minimum and uncomfortable. Staff is all poorly ran. NOT ADA FRIENDLY, and found some staff to be extremely rude, aggressive, and combative when requesting help. They say they can accommodate but really the communication is so poor and the place is staffed by children, so if you have a disability there is no guarantee there will even be a room... I almost had to sleep outside. At night its extremely loud depending on the occupants around you. We got to listen to really bad guitar playing and what sounded like a herd of kids wrestling shaking our walls until 2am. The smell from the cleaners used is soo soo bad in all the buildings. The pool is over occupancy pretty much at all times and there is a waiting line to swim. The smell of chlorine can be smelt a few buildings away, which leads me to think its def not cleaned properly... The other activities on site are few and far between, expensive, and they only accept very small amounts of people (8 -15 for most). I could go on, but really just don't waste you're time or money here. There a much better places to say in the area. This place is nasty.

It's a nice place to stay with a full schedule of activities to do. No ac, but a fan is provided. The only con in my experience here is the food. It made me and my family very gassy. The food is like prison food. If I would have known about the food, I would have rented a cabin and cooked my own food.

Gotta love this place. Best kept secret in Estes. From a family of 7 this more than exceeded our expectation. The buffet at the Pine Room was outstanding for $21. The cabins were clean, rustic and more than we expected with beautiful views. No need for AC. Can't wait to return.

It is a great and reasonable priced place to stay. If you are a couple, only 2 people, you cannot get
a room with just one or two beds. Each room has 5 to 6 beds, some are bunk beds. Still. it is a great place to stay. A very good price, right beside the Rocky Mountain National Park. If you do not go to the park, there is a "park" within the YMCA, with lots of activities and things to do. In the morning, you get a free breakfast and, many times, you see the elk roaming the YMCA location. It is right next to Rocky Mountain National Park and Estes Park city location. My husband and I loved it. We wanted to get a cabin (there are so many cabins at YMCA) but were told we could only get in one of the lodges--which are small hotels. There are several of them and you never know which one you are getting. But--all the ones I saw all had a window looking outside into the park area. It is not what I expected BUT, we loved it and would do it again. In the lodge we got, you do not get room service for cleaning you room daily, but since we were in a lodge, you can turn in your towels and bedding and get new towels and bedding daily, but you will have to take care of it yourself. Still, it is like the past, your are a somewhat pioneer in the park. A good thing to do if you are wanting to got to a park and live in nature. It is much easier than living in nature; you just have to help yourself a little bit. It is a great experience!!

Multiple people told us this was the best wedding they have ever attended. I can't recommend the *Mountainside Lodge* at the YMCA enough. This is the property at the very top of the hill with a huge lodge (sleeps ~35) and includes your outdoor ceremony and reception space all in one location. Lodging for our entire wedding party, ceremony space, and reception space for 4 days (Thurs afternoon to Sunday morning) cost $9,000. That is just THE ROOM in other venues in Estes Park on a Saturday. We all had so much fun hanging out at the Lodge together and really getting to spend time together. NO travel made the wedding day so much easier than having to load up cars or rent additional transportation. I walked right outside my dressing area and down to the aisle! A lot of folks are hung up on the only beer and wine deal. Your guests will not care and can enjoy anything else they'd like in their cabins. Do it. It is worth it. We also had a kickball game and ate in the dining hall the day before our wedding. I loved my time at the YMCA!

The Y is beyond a 10. I ve been there several times a year for much of my life. It s the best family vacation spot in the country, and we ve all over the U.S. There are so many free activities for the kids. The employees are delightful. Plus the beauty is mind blowing. It s so fun to stay there. My whole family loves it. This is our place to be together as a family.

YMCA activities and grounds are great, plenty for the family to do. However, my family and i stayed in one of the lodges (deer ridge) for our one night getaway since none of the cabins were available. Big mistake! The fire alarm went off in the middle of the night, sending my young kids into a panic attack. Everyone had to evacuate the building. Only to find out that it was a false alarm. Needless to say no one went back to sleep, ruining our entire next day. When i spoke to a manager the next morning about the cause of the false alarm he was completely unaware of it at first and after inquiring about it said it was "due to a steamy shower" and that "it happens all the time". The manager seemed very indifferent about it and offered no compensation whatsoever, even after i told him what it had done to my kids. I would understand if someone pulled the fire alarm or if it were due to something reasonable, but a steamy shower should not regularly set off the fire alarms. THAT'S A GOOD INDICATION THERE'S SOMETHING WRONG WITH YOUR FIRE SYSTEM! I was very taken back that the YMCA would be ok with this happening all the time and not even offering some form compensation. My family & I will never stay in a lodge at the YMCA again. Very disappointed in the fire system and management's response.

The YMCA has reached out to me in response to my review and has offered to try and make it right. I will post a second review after our next stay.

We recently had our do-over stay at the YMCA of the Rockies and it was great! Our whole family enjoyed the stay. My 3, 8, & 9yr old did not want to leave, and when we did they asked when are we going back. Our stay in a cabin was exactly what we needed. It was a great time to relax and bond as a family. The great thing about the Y is you can do as little or as much as you want. The prices for activities can't be beat, and many are free with your stay. We swam at the pool, in-door rock climbed, fished, played put-put, hiked, etc... Every day we saw elk & deer around the property. The staff was very friendly and helpful everywhere we went. We will be looking to do another visit before the end of the year and possibly planning a family reunion in the future as well. Thank you YMCA for your commitment to an awesome experience! I've amended my previous rating to reflect our latest experience and our true appreciation.

I just recently stayed at the Lower Hyde cabin. It was perfect the cabin was pretty clean. I loved the scenery. But I didn't appreciate the camp kids throwing rocks at the elk or at the cabins. I loved seeing the elk being so close. Until these kids threw rocks. Then we didn't see them no more.

disappointments; dark room, cafeteria food was just that, like grade school quality, loud screaming teens at 2 am in lodge, so much for "quiet hours"

on the plus side; friendly staff, beautiful views, lovely property

Always a great place to go when in Estes park, even if your just staying for the day. They've got a nice lodge with a little cafe and coffee shop. As well as a club house with many games for family's. Would deffenetly recommend!

Spent two nights here with young kids. Next time we will come for longer! There are tons of activities to do - swim, putt putt, basketball, etc. Some (like archery and rock climbing) have minimum ages - 7, I think. The campus infrastructure impressed me the most: all buildings are solidly built (think log cabin) and kept very clean. Sidewalks go everywhere. Meals are served in a large cafeteria which had ample indoor seating and some outdoor patio seating. Food isn't fancy, but you can eat as much as you want. Now that we know more about the camp we can better prepare for our next trip; we ended up spending most of our time in RMNP and didn't get to explore the YMCA much.

We stayed at the 3 bedroom summit vacation home for 4days with 6 young adults total 8 people. We had,a,wonderful time the boys referred to our vacation as the most fun they've ever had on a vacation. We hiked, horseback riding, went visited the national park and saw wildlife everywhere. We visited Estes Park almost everyday. We as parents were very impressed and happy with all the services and staff. Our cabin was perfect, we all fit comfortably and felt like we were home. Special thanks to all the YMCA staff for making it the best Rocky Mountain experience ever!!

Good family vacation place. Cabin was clean and comfortable. Plenty of fun activities. But if do stay here plan to cook in cabin or eat in town. YMCA dining was overpriced and absolutely horrible.

My wedding on 06.18.17 was absolutely perfect!!! Thank you YMCA of the Rockies for being so professional, and patient with every change I made. You guys really did make it easy for us. We had so many of our guests compliment the food that was served, the whole experience was spectacular. And that view.... the Overlook chapel wowed our out of town and Colorado native guests. I will forever recommend YMCA of the Rockies for events or even just to stay. My big day was magical!

We haven't been in quite a few years but came back for our anniversary. it was nice and quiet no problems at all. The food is MUCH better now that Mike Kingston is back at the helm in the kitchen.

Wonderful property. Our cabin was fantastic, the property was wonderful, so many activities on the property, and very close to RMNP and Estes Park. We will absolutely return. Addressing an issue raised in another review, no, the food in the cafeteria wasn't fantastic, I don't expect when cooking for that many people you can expect it to be 5 star. Breakfast was fine, but after 1 dinner meal there, we ate our lunch and dinner elsewhere.

I've stayed at the YMCA of the Rockies every year for the last 15 years. I will always book a cabin in the spring or fall as it is not so busy around the park and town. Cabins are great to stay in, some are a little run down and need a little tlc but not an issue. Only had an issue one time with a cabin in all my years, they promptly and in a kind way hooked me up with another one. The entire facility is always very clean and It is a great place to go if you are looking to get away. Very child friendly, wildlife all over the park to see, many family activities. I see many posts about the food not being the greatest, it is a large facility with a buffet style meal. In my opinion it is as good as can be expected. Great place to make home base when visiting Estes Park and the Rocky Mountains. Never disappointed.

Although it's been a few years since my wife & been there we love the YMCA of the Rockies. 09 was my first trip to Colorado & she surprised me with trip to Estes Park for a weekend. We stayed in Mt. Yipsilon lodge and it was perfect for what we wanted (someplace to sleep & shower).
In 2010 when rented a cabin for a week. Great way to save money on eating out & perfect way to feel at home while on vacation. Use as much of or as little of the facility as you wish. We really enjoyed playing bingo at Sweet memorial.

I like to tell the story of sitting on the porch of the cabin having coffee on morning during quiet hours & I heard a loud buzzing sound. At first I thought it was the sound of trucks Jake brakes but then I discovered it was a bee near my feet. THAT QUIET & peaceful.

I just got married at the YMCA of the Rockies last weekend. My ceremony was at the Overlook Chapel, and the view was absolutely amazing!! My guests were blown away by the beauty of the scenery. My officiant, Greg, was also awesome and I More

We stayed in a cabin at the YMCA of the Rockies - ...

We stayed in a cabin at the YMCA of the Rockies - Estes Park in June of 2018 and plan to return for many years to come. The cabin was simple and small but had everything we needed. The campus is beautiful and very family freindly. I am somewhat humored by some of the reviews that complain about lack of air conditioning - these are rustic cabins in the mountains and it is to be expected. I'm sure there are hotels in the area that provide air conditioning but I wouldn't trade the space and atmophere for it. If you are looking for a family freindly, clean, reasonably priced, fun for all ages, beautiful location with easy access to a magnificent National Park, I would highly recommend YMCA of the Rockies!

Many activities mostly geared toward smaller children. We are currently still here. The covid19 has certainly had an impact here, as the buffet style dining is closed and staff cuts have been made so many of the staff seem to be working in new areas unfamiliar to them. But still I recommend this place for sure. However bring a fan if your staying in the lodge it's quite hot and there's no air conditioning

Overall the view is nice, but the food is mediocre, the rooms are some what good because it has 5 beds, but the rooms lack the most basic things all hotels are equipped with which are a TV, microwave, and refrigerator.

We had our family reunion there and it was amazing. The food was great. All the free activities were fun except for the back 9 of the Frisbee golf which was very difficult and many areas were flooded. We lost 2 Frisbees due to the high weeds and flooded areas. After searching for nearly an hour we never found them. They do require a 10.00 deposit for each disc. Definitely, would ask for the upper level of lodging due to noise of people above you. Lots to do for all ages. Staff very kind and so helpful

Well, I was here on the Mountain Madness retreat. The rooms were a little tight but good enough. The bathrooms in the conference hall are the only clean bathrooms on campus, besides the ones in the rooms. The food in the Aspen Dining room was absolutely atrocious. One of the adults in our group tried to saw through his pancake for one minute, to no avail. The oatmeal was super dry, and they served omelets with yucky velveeta cheese. Oh, don't forget the brown rice. (burnt white rice) From last year, the Salisbury steaks were either so dry, I could use it in a campfire, or like rubber.

One phrase for the YMCA- You get what you pay for....

One phrase for the YMCA- You get what you pay for. I will preface this review with the fact that the catering staff the day of the event helped redeem the YMCA as they were very helpful. I have 8+ years experience in event services and catering and can say the YMCA s professionalism and organization is sub-par. We only ever heard from both Ashley, the wedding coordinator and Genevia, the catering manager when we booked, during our tasting and when we got the invoice and BEO. We still have un-answered emails and phone calls. When trying to gain access to the walnut room the day-of, we were told the event staff is at lunch and they can help you in an hour or so . We were told that they were flexible for the ceremony time and reception time, as they only book one wedding per day. What they failed to mention is that other departments use the same space and can book those spaces as well. A month prior to the wedding, we asked to moved our ceremony time at the Overlook chapel by 15 minutes. At this time, we were told that a rehearsal was scheduled for 30 minutes after our ceremony was supposed to end. We asked the YMCA to call to see if the couple could push their time back by 15 minutes for their rehearsal. The YMCA called me back 3 minutes later saying that the couple wasn t willing to move it back. I told the YMCA that I was frustrated that no one told us that a rehearsal was booked 30 minutes after our ceremony, knowing we still had to shuttle 100+ guests down. Ashley then responded that because we didn t ask to change our ceremony time earlier, we lost our opportunity to change the time , after being told that they were very flexible on changing time . Ashley s tone was very passive aggressive, rude and did not make me feel like I was a valued customer. I understand that they do weddings all the time and that we are just another wedding, but we only do this once and we did not feel very valued. I had to email the YMCA about 4 times asking for the BEO and diagram. It is sad that I had to prompt them to do their job. They had also double booked our backup space/ preparation space the day-of adding more stress. Again, the catering staff during our wedding was great, but everything prior to made it more stressful. I heard they are increasing their prices and I would warn others of the lack of communication and organization from this venue. We had great support from our family, friends and the YMCA s catering staff and made it a beautiful wedding but the YMCA s event services only made it stressful.

Beautiful location. Great place to have a retreat. So much to do and lots of friendly staff. I really appreciated the time that we spent there for the 2019 girltrek stress protest. The food work, great space and you can't beat the location!!!

The rooms were great, roomy enough no TVs, each floor had a common area with a fireplace and couches. It was very comfortable we were there for Lutheran women's retreat and we had a great meeting space it was quiet we were there for three days and two nights. We walked from our rooms to the chow hall they did serve food buffet style and it was good. I thought the price was reasonable and we had a great time and the scenery was beautiful.

We were recently married here. One of the only redeeming qualities was the view. First, we were told more than once that the ymca would help us keep our kegs cool in their cooler, then that they could supply ice and buckets, then that we had to buy our own ice. Needless to say that was extremely frustrating to find out the day before the event. Also, the staff were not knowledgeable at all. No one knew answers to our questions or even who to ask to find the answer. Getting information and help was like pulling teeth. It did not help that in the year that we worked with the ymca, there were two different catering managers as well as two different event coordinators and hand off was clearly done very poorly. All that being said, the food, while overpriced, was good and arrived on time (despite our worries).

We all really enjoy coming up here to visit. They have lots of activities to choose from and plenty of amenities to keep the whole family entertained. Our favorite was axe throwing and my little guy (3 year old) had a blast with the bubble making class. If you go I highly recommend staying in one of their cabins, it is soo much fun! They have kitchens so you can cook food or you can also get food from their restaurants and general store. The pizza place is pretty good and all the prices are very reasonable considering the location. We will definitely be coming back. Such a great place to bring guests when they come to visit.

Great activities for family. Would like to be informed of meal hours at time check-in. We walked into the dining hall expecting breakfast and pretty much had enough time to grab food and stick into a box. They were closing 5 min after got there. We got there at 9 a.m. that's pretty early for ending breakfast. Never got times for lunch or dinner either. Will come back here, as we got to spend quality time as a family and nothing can change that. Daughter said "dad this was one of our best weekends in a while"

As I've been here several times over the past 15 years, I can say that their service has always been impeccable and the facilities great. The rental lodges are fabulous, historically we have stayed as a large group in the Blessings cabin and it is always great.

The setting makes this the go-to location for your visit to Estes Park and the Rocky Mountain National Park. Wide selection of family activities offered. And I especially love that this is a Christian organization with a goal to honor Christ and make Him known.

I expected a little more from this place. The views are amazing of course, but overall I wasn't that impressed. The hotel/lodge we stayed in was clean, but it would have been nice to have a microwave and mini fridge. I understand why there wasn't a tv to encourage family time though. Mini golf was fun and the craft building was the best part. The programs that they have in place for younger kids were okay, but the young people they had in charge of them were not very enthusiastic. My biggest complaint is the food. Typical cafeteria food, but everything was overcooked and lacked taste. Also, the cafeteria was always incredibly busy and we had to stand in line for almost half an hour for many meals. They need to rearrange the serving lines and drink areas as it became so crowded we couldn't even move. Finally, there are many activites that cost extra, so it would have been nice if more things were included in the price of our stay.

I've gone to the YMCA of the Rockies every summer since I was a baby with my church. It's an incredible experience with beautiful hikes and views. I've made so many memories in my childhood here, and I can't imagine a summer without Estes Park, CO YMCA of the Rockies.

The food service needs better management, supper was $14.50 and when we went through the line half the food was gone . At breakfast the next morning at 0800 hrs all that was left was fruit, scrambled eggs and bacon....gravy, biscuits, omelettes, all gone. And the coffee. For Petes sake they don't know how to make the f-ing coffee. We had to make the coffee ourselves! What a joke this chow hall is, don't waste your money eating here. The facilities and activities are nice, but added fees for damn near everything. Won't be back!

Why is your web site so unfriendly to anyone trying to make reservations. We have called and either been put on hold forever or disconnected. Your web site is even worse.

This will be the ninth year for our family to spend a week at the "Y" camp at Estes park, but making reservations is just as impossible now as it was years ago. It is as if the "Y" is in the previous century.

Once we get there and finally are checked in, we all have a wonderful time. but making a reservation is almost impossible.

Great time of year to see the Elk! We weren t in our cabin ten minutes, they were bugling, and seen across the street from where we stayed. We saw Elk both days we were there several times each day. We stayed in a midsize cabin that was very accommodating. Everything worked and was comfortable. We needed items twice during our stay. We called the front desk and our items were promptly delivered. Great place to stay and excellent customer service!

We go to Estes Park every year (sometimes twice) and this is the first time we stayed at the YMCA of the Rockies. It's a perfect place for families with all the amenities and programs available. It's minutes from RMNP so you don't have to drive through the "traffic" in town. They provide guided hikes, there's a stable on the grounds with awesome hard-working wranglers, there's a pool, miniature golf, programs for kids of all ages from 2 to 92, and so much more! We stayed in a small cabin that was fully equipped and met our needs as a family with small children. YMCA of the Rockies is husband- and kid-approved, and it will be the only place we'll stay in Estes Park from now on.

Wretchedly uncomfortable rooms, to the point I found sleeping on the floor more comfortable. Overcrowded with drunkenness, and calling the cafeteria food blah is quite generous. Excellent water pressure, even on the third floor when all rooms were full, but the water reached dangerously high temps- be sure not to leave anyone younger than teens unsupervised.

Something that I really didn t like was the food there , my group and I didn t feel so good after we left . Warm, helpful staff, beautiful scenery, lots of fun, family friendly activities. There are always lots of people staying here, but the Y is on such a huge piece of property that it never feels crowded. Wildlife galore. Wranglers are a super fun group to hang with. Cabins were cozy and clean. Best vacation ever!

Lovely campus, service, and amazing location with great views but don t stay here the week after the 4th because the place is packed with a bunch of bratty, disrespectful kids. Their lanyards say student life. I highly recommend not allowing them back on your grounds: ymca. They ruin the experience and make all others time here much worse than the profits I m sure you make from them.

My family was treated terribly by this joke of a resort. They certainly are not Christian. They overcharged us and lied about the services we used. We warn any families large groups or church communities to avoid YMCA of the Rockies. We are reporting them to The BBB and to our church as well. We will never stay there again. Or book our large gatherings there. Please spread the word and save good people the same misfortune. They should be ashamed.

Customer service was great. With the exception of fresh greens for salad for lunch and dinner every day, the meals themselves were subpare. Two days in a row were offered hotdogs. Skirt steak was tough and fatty, to name a couple. I come with a group 2x year for last few years. My may 2 through 5 2019 was the worst to date for meals.

I've been coming here since I was a kid. Great activities with facilities that are always being updated and maintained. The cabins are great retreats for adults when we want to get out of town but not too far from comfort. Close to some great hiking and the wildlife is always a treat.

We stayed in a cabin for a quick spring break getaway. The accommodations were wonderful! Our dog came with us and the cabin was perfect for our family. Next time we will bring more groceries since the cabin was ready for cooking. We loved the "little explorers" class with our kids we learned all about scat and got to see bobcat, deer and rabbit scat from my 6 year old! We paid extra and went on the hayride we enjoyed every minute of it! Our whole family loved Boone and Crockett the horses! Thanks for a great time and we can't wait to come back!

This is one of my favorite places. I've been coming here since I was a kid, and now I bring my own family. It's a great spot to bring kids with lots of activities for them to do. The Y always does a great job putting on different events and having things for families to do. The location is incredible with the views within the Y, and it's proximity to Rocky Mountain National Park.

The facilities are mostly built new. Everything is contemporary and comfortable with a mountain feeling throughout. We had our first visit for Easter Brunch. The selection of food in the buffet was INCREDIBLE and the quality was outstanding! Afterwards we spent some time playing miniature golf. Overall our Easter celebration was very memorable and we will return again!

Read the fine print...these guys charged me 25% of my deposit when I had to cancel over 45 days before the stay. When I reached out to them, they just quoted their policy...thanks, really helpful!

I still remember being 5 and exploring this campground. My parents volunteered as leaders years ago. We visited again a couple years ago and it really has changed the park used to be covered in trees but after the beetle infestation pretty much all of the trees are gone. The park is still great, lots of trails, the cabins are one of the best ways to camp and there are tons of fun activities for kids. There's a general store that has really good chocolate milk, remember loving it growing up and it still held up when we returned years later.

Overall this was an awesome experience even with the COVID restrictions. The resort is beautifully tucked in a bowl surrounded by mountains. Just a few short minute drive from RMNP and estes park. To be honest, the rooms were average, but clean. Regardless, my family and I will be back.

I love the YMCA for what it is - an opportunity to be in the mountains without the distractions of tv and electronics for a few days. If you cannot go without your modern amenities for a few days then this is not for you. We always stay in the cabins with family, or for a girls weekend out with a group of my daughter and her friends. Pluses are the snowy mountain views (in the winter), activities (craft barn, pool, gymhouse), proximity to town, and the fact we all stay in one big cabin together with a fire going all weekend. We always make meals in the cabins as the cafeteria food is just that. The cabins could definitely use some updating on the interiors. But I still overlook all of that because this experience is unique - a chance to reconnect with other people and nature without the usual distractions. Most of our other vacations involve the hussle-bussle and modern amenities we have all come to be accustomed to - kudos to the YMCA to sticking to their mission for all these years.
