We got married at YMCA Camp Elphinstone and we couldn't recommend it more. Beautiful venue with a ton of options no matter what kind of event you are looking for or what kind of weather you encounter. The staff team's customer service, kindness and flexibility really made my wedding dreams come true.

The camp was old. The food and cabins were satisfactory. I took a two week camp and the food got very boring after the 5 th day. The sailing equipment was good. Not enough free time, it was just activities one after another. Wouldn't recommend to anyone less of very energetic.

Beautiful setting for this camp! Came here with work. Its cold here in fall/winter but most cabins are heated. Some cabins resemble a quaint Inn but there are more rustic cabins to give a closer "camp experience". They have several large lodges and meeting spaces from very modern to very rustic. Their oldest lodge has and majestic fireplace and is one of the few original buildings. This camp has tons of activities which range from simple outdoor games to hiking and swimming to canoeing, kayaking and sailing to wall climbing (they have an artificial climbing tower) low-rope and high-rope courses and they even offer guided one and two week guided hikes, and sailing courses. The camp is open to rentals for group activities during the fall and sometimes (weather-dependent) in winter.
My kids have been to this camp in the past and loved it. The staff is fantastic, we'll trained and very, very knowledgeable. I can't wait to go again. Will probably do the one-week family camp with my wife and kids this or next year.

Beautiful location, great counsellors and staff. All of the activities and everything is in great condition. The grounds are always well kept, and the food is the best camp food there is.
I consider it my second home, and I hope one day other will too
100% would recommend to everyone else, because of all the amazing memories and great friends you will make and have forever and always!

Went for 3 days with my class. The counsellors were so loud and way too energetic. The whole thing was a struggle for all of us. The food was horrible, and I mean it. We were treated like babies the whole time. The view was stunning though. But there were way too many cons about the camp. There is no break times, it's just activity activity activity. I slept for 17 hours when I got home because it was so tiring. The activities were poorly executed too. 1/5 stars. The only fun I had was 12:00 at night in my cabin with friends when we had a food fight, it was worth getting in trouble for considering how horrible the camp was.

Needless to say, I'm not going back.

Decent place, not perfect but it's not all that bad.

Pros:
Nice people
Great cabin space - Good shower space, lockers included in dorms for belongings
Fun activities include archery, kayaking, etc.
Vegan meals offered
Snack/food cart available

Cons:
Fecal matter from local geese is annoying - some cabins smell due to this issue
Poor selection of food - main meals are fried and oily

All in all, if you're offered to go to this camp, go for it! The experience you get there is phenomenal! Just make sure to clean off your shoes after you finished a day's worth of activities.

My son came back from this camp very disappointed. My son used to be in overnight Camps for many years. Staff is very careless, they don't spend time with children or even talk, sleep in separate room and children would walk in the night outside - nobody cares. Aweful, frustrating experience. Activities - kayaking and archery and especially the food were really good though. Will never let my children go there again.

There used to be a girls only camp called YAWACA Which was also associated with YMCA Elphinstone at that time I believe Elphinstone was a boys only camp. Please correct me if I am wrong.
I went to camp YAWACA for several years from age 8 to age 16.

Amazing staff team with excellent programming and activities both during the summer and outdoor education seasons. The location is beautiful with a top class waterfront. I love this place.

Kids had a fantastic time. They cried when getting picked up because they missed their friends already. Staff are always friendly and an interesting mix of local and international youth. Lots to do, camp stories and activities like sailing, kayaking, and archery are the most favourite.

Very spartan accommodations (if you're taller than 6 ft it will be a painful sleeping experience as my husband found out). There is a variety of activities and the staff are super enthusiastic when it came to singing. Food is okay and they try to cater to different dietary needs which is nice. The cabins are clean but remind me of a war camp. We were disappointed that most of the activities we wanted to do filled up before we had a chance to sign up. Oh yeah, they don't mention the camp is on a big hill and your cabins are at the top so you are constantly hill climbing. They don't have locks so we had to jam a knife in the door to stop our 2 year old from escaping when we weren't looking. Fun but I'll try a more upscale place next time!

A good friend just got married here last weekend. The staff was great, the rec hall cleaned up nicely for a hipsteresque wedding March with the fire place roaring and the scene from the dock is five stars!
