The Kennedy-Lugar Youth Exchange & Study (YES) Program provides scholarships for secondary school students from countries with significant Muslim populations to spend up to one academic year in the United States and to U.S. citizens attending high school to spend up to one academic year in select countries.

The world is becoming increasingly interconnected, and it is more important than ever to foster cross-cultural understanding and cooperation. The Kennedy-Lugar Youth Exchange & Study (YES) Program is a shining example of how cultural exchange can empower young people and promote peace and understanding.
The YES Program provides scholarships for secondary school students from countries with significant Muslim populations to spend up to one academic year in the United States, as well as for U.S. citizens attending high school to spend up to one academic year in select countries. Since its inception in 2002, the YES Program has provided life-changing experiences for thousands of students from over 40 countries. Participants have the chance to live with host families, attend local schools, participate in community service projects, and explore their new surroundings. They also receive intensive English language instruction and cultural orientation before departing for their host country.
One of the key goals of the YES Program is to promote mutual understanding between Americans and people from other cultures.
