About Wounded Warrior Project
Wounded Warrior Project: Empowering Veterans and Active Duty Service Members
Wounded Warrior Project (WWP) is a nonprofit organization that has been serving veterans and active duty service members since 2003. The organization was founded by a group of veterans who wanted to provide support to their fellow warriors who were returning from combat with physical and mental injuries.
The mission of WWP is to honor and empower wounded warriors by providing programs and services that meet their unique needs. The organization's vision is to foster the most successful, well-adjusted generation of wounded service members in our nation's history.
WWP offers a wide range of programs and services that are designed to help veterans and active duty service members overcome the challenges they face after being injured in combat. These programs include:
1. Mental Health Support: WWP provides free mental health care for warriors dealing with post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD), traumatic brain injury (TBI), depression, anxiety, or other mental health issues.
2. Physical Health & Wellness: WWP offers various physical health programs such as adaptive sports, nutrition coaching, wellness workshops, yoga classes, etc., which help warriors improve their overall health.
3. Career Counseling & Employment Services: WWP helps warriors transition from military life to civilian life by providing career counseling services such as resume writing assistance, job search strategies, interview preparation tips etc., along with employment opportunities through its employer network.
4. Benefits Claims Assistance: WWP assists wounded warriors in navigating the complex VA benefits system so they can receive the benefits they deserve for their service-related injuries.
5. Independence Program: This program provides long-term support for severely injured veterans who require ongoing assistance with daily living activities such as bathing, dressing or cooking meals at home.
6. Family Support Services: WWP recognizes that families play an essential role in supporting wounded warriors' recovery process; therefore it provides family support services like respite care for caregivers or counseling sessions for family members dealing with PTSD or other mental health issues related to military service.
WWP has helped over 200000+ injured veterans since its inception through its various programs/services mentioned above.
