Nice diner rib eyes were great ,service pleasant , nice evening under the stars.
Our server was so sweet and accommodating. Food was served quick and hot and was so delicious. We sat on the screened porch. So beautiful. Can't wait to be back
The three of us were very disappointed in that the room had 2 double beds which were very uncomfortable as were the pillows. Certainly there was room to squeeze in at least a queen plus twin or two queens. One of the two windows in the room didn't even stay open without being hoisted by books. No air conditioner or fan provided on the hot and sticky evening. For $197 a night I expected a bit more....we will never stay again.
Beautiful room, the Inn has lots of updates but has been kept rustic and charming. Only complaint, the bed was very firm.
Incredible food. The sea scallops are melt in your mouth, the Guinness haddock is the BEST fish I have ever tasted, and the smoked chicken sandwich was phenomenal! Staff was amazing, location is beautiful. All around 10/5! Would definitely
I have been staying here with my family for the past three years while visiting family. Usually not a bad experience until this year.
We were checking out on our last day and in the haste of packing up our stuff and three kids, we left our 18 month old sons sleep sheep behind in the room. Realizing our mistake four hours later and 4 states away, we called to ask if they found it in the room. They said they'd call back. No call back. We called the next day, same thing, "we'll talk to housekeeping and let you know"... no call back so we call back no answer. Three days later we call back and they said they didn't find anything. Terrible service. There's absolutely no way their staff didn't find it while cleaning the room after checkout. Atleast give us an honest answer and don't blow us off.
This place turned a quick trip into a stressful mission. We booked through booking.com, which says that it's pet friendly with no further mention. When we arrived, the person at the desk told us we needed a rabies certificate for our dog or we would not be allowed to stay. She called her manager and was able to place us in the "banquet hall" inn building for an additional fee under the condition that we faxed a copy of the rabies certificate as soon as we got home. We asked about paying in advance for a late check out since we were planning on climbing Mt Monadnock in the morning. She insisted it would be fine for us to check out between 12 and 12:30 and would not incur any fees. We had booked a queen room and instead got two full beds after the switch. We went and climbed Monadnock in the morning and got back at noon. We tried to take a quick shower but the water was ice cold and the exhaust fan smelled like an electrical fire. We were packing and about to head down to check out when we got an irritated phone call from the front desk saying she needed to leave and we were supposed to check out at 11. We promptly left and will not return. The grounds need a little work but it was the challenging interactions with the staff that left a poor impression.
Staff are always friendly, and the food is awesome. We had our wedding and reception there and they made us feel like family.
I stayed at the Woodbound Inn for a wedding on-site. The *food* was outstanding - particularly the Sunday brunch. As a hotel it was mediocre - quaint, but lacking refinement (plastic cups in the bathroom, really?). The real killer is that there is little to no cell service, and no cellular data (Verizon). There was weak, slow wifi in parts of the building - but it's not broadcast as an open network, which made it harder to find and connect to.
I've been here twice this week. I chose to eat in the Pub to enjoy its coziness. The service was good and my meal was great. Both times I had the meatloaf sandwich with onion rings. Absolutely supperb! It was so good the first time, I had to have it again. Next time I'll go with one of the other tasty looking choices.
Worst place I have ever stayed. The bed was very old and springs poked into my back. The pillow was well used and practically flat. I got no sleep. The carpet was stained and dirty. The room smelled like an ashtray. We let them know that three people were staying in the room and they still only gave us two towels. The ONLY reason I'm giving two stars is the service. The woman at the front desk was very helpful and the bartender was really nice. I would eat there again if I were in the area, but I would NEVER sleep there.
Very friendly staff, nice location, cabins by the beach are amazing. All structures need a bit of paint/ updating.
Good luck trying to call for reservations. No one answers the phone and if you call the number for the restaurant, you get a message that a mailbox hasn't been set up. Not a great first impression and possibly supports other posrings commenting on service problems.
Beautiful place nestled in a quaint new England town on a lake. Updated on the inside and a wonderful menu selection. Made reservations because there was 6 of us. They were not prepared for a full house and our waitress was out of sorts. Took 1.5 hours to get our meals- although they were delicious.
The food was great. Not sure how we missed this little gem until now, but we will be back!
We attended a wedding and stayed overnight in the main inn. An absolutely beautiful wedding venue. Perfect rustic charm for a summer evening wedding. The main inn has simple rooms with AC. The lakeside cabins were great to hang out in before and after the wedding. The staff seemed very nice but there seemed to be very few of them and it took awhile to get help a few times. We wish we could have stayed longer and enjoyed it even more.
Went for a wedding reception. Im now in love with beef welington....
Food was pretty good. The Cabins by the lake were cozy
The place was beautiful! It was clean and roomy! The food was excellent and the staff was very friendly. Would definitely recommend this place
Excellent service, fantastic food and a wonderful atmosphere!
Great food, great atmosphere, friendly staff. The chicken wings are awesome.
Excellent food, great service and friendly atmosphere!
I was very pleased to find this gem near Mt Monadnock state park. It was off the beaten path and it turned out to be a charming beautiful accommodation. The staff was very gritando accommodating to our needs. It felt very safe with all Covid precautions and our kids loved it.
Definitely a recommendation for families. They also gave us great recommendations for dinner. We ended up going to the Phoenix smoke house and have a great time with live music and wonderful barbecue food within the space of a tent.
Food was good , service was good we were there for a company party. No music was provided or coffee with desert. Was cold in play barn and we had to stoke fire because they serving did not know how or were they able to do this well. Friendly atmosphere, pleasant old building. Did not stay overnight.
If I could give negative stars I would. We stayed in the Edgewood double room, not part of the main building with the restaurant. While booking I asked if rooms were handicapped accessible because I have a disabled mother, they told me she would be fine. The building only has stairs so it was very hard for my mom. Most places have free breakfast place did not, the room were nasty, toilet was not scrubbed, sheet had big hole, extra blanket had stains, phones did not work and were covered in dust they were cracked and broken, dust on everything, sand and dirt around the base of the floor, something was splattered the bathroomwall., they only gave a few bars of soap. When I complained they blew me off so bad never herd back. I will never stay here again.
We had a wonderful Christmas holiday lunch with festive decorations surrounding us. The fish and chips I ordered were the best that I've tasted. The fresh Atlantic halibut was huge, enough for two meals, and was perfectly cooked. Alex, our waiter, was very nice, professional, and it was delightful to talk with him.
Traveling to the area on business, I feel as though I'm on vacation while staying at the Woodbound Inn. The staff are friendly, the food is devine, and the atmosphere is peaceful. Looking forward to staying again!
Authentic New England lakeside resort, in a lovely setting. The dining room is newly renovated, and the food is fresh, healthy and delicious. Highly recommend!
Classic New England inn. Recently remodeled. Great food!
A very pleasant local hotel with clean, comfortable appointed rooms and a nice pic and restaurant in-house. The main building rooms are not soundproof (you can hear voices in the hall) but it's not bad
We stayed at the inn last weekend. We rented 4 rooms and 2 cabins. One cabin had a broken chair in it which was broken when we arrived. Not only did they charge us $230 for the chair but keys they say were never returned when we handed them to the front desk person and restaurant charges when we didn t eat in the restaurant. It s been a nightmare to resolve. Not only will we never go back, everyone we know will hear about it. This inn is completely unreasonable.
Food was wonderful th h ed whole week. E cell ant chef and staff is very accommodating.
Went for Thanksgiving, great setup for buffet ,beautiful decorating. The turkey ice sculpture was really a nice touch. Food was delicious, need more flavor in mashed potatoes, more variety in desserts would be nice. They did accommodate my daughter with gluten free. We had a great time, and the staff was excellent. Definitely recommend and would return.
Great staff, fantastic food. & off the grid cabins. Supper!
The restaraunt has a very delicous sunday brunch, and all the food i have had from this establishment over the last few years has been phenomenal
Loved this place. Attended wedding and loved every thing about it. Cabin on the water was great. Nice view and quiet. Brunch was delish.
Stayed at the inn for an on-site wedding. Venue was beautiful and room was nice enough for the weekend.
Was a busy night very slow service. Not prepared for valentine's but food was great!
Classic Bait and Switch! After viewing the Woodbound inn's website we thought that it was a very beautiful place to stay, upon our arrival our jaws dropped, runned down, paint peeling ,desolate. No parking or signage at check in. Our room was supposed to be by the lake ( no lake in site) we were in a room above the function hall. We decided to ask if there was a cabin available near the lake , so we walked down the quarter mile footpath to look at the cabins . We noticed how unmaintained the grounds were as well as the cabins. We couldn't stay the night there and couldn't leave quick enough!! The desk staff was friendly and apologetic but denied our refund. Very disappointed!! , Classic bait and switch , don't trust the website
Zero Stars.
.
People who have allergies and don't beware! I though I was only having a severe allergy attack because it was pet friendly, but the really culprit was that every inch of this place is covered in dust.
I Was staying here with a friend who casually mentioned that the wall looked fuzzy in her room. She decided to touch it and THE WALLS WERE COMPLETELY COVERED IN DUST. I hoped it was just her room, but when I got back to mine, I couldn't shake the thought.
I looked up at the walls and they indeed looked fuzzy, so I decided to pass a tissue along it. I wish I hadn't. It too was indeed covered in a thick layer of dust. It explained why I had to use both my steroid and rescue inhaler all weekend. Sleeping on a rock hard bed with even more firm pillows didn't help.
Also, the restaurant and bar close ridiculously early on weekends.
Would not recommend.
P.S, there are 5 WiFi networks here for guests, none of which work.
Great meal to go tonight. All 5 of us enjoyed our meals.
The staff is great, place needs lots of upkeep done, exterior painting, facility work.
Had an amazing time at the Woodbound Inn this weekend. It is very beautiful. Very friendly staff. We really enjoyed the Murder Mystery Holiday Party in the Play Barn. Everyone seemed to really have a great time.
Had our wedding reception there years ago and it was so wonderful. But that space has been overtaken in memory.
Went back for a weekend stay with our parents the following year and Rented a cabin. in the middle of the night we had a drug addict staying in the cabin next door break through the window trying to kill us. This isn t an exaggeration, it was like a scene from a horror film. There wasn t even staff there to assist when we first learned of the commotion happening next door. When the police finally arrived is when someone from the hotel showed up, to see us sitting in glass and blood from the perpetrator. Our memories of the wedding were ruined forever, and we ve never heard again from the hotel. All we have left is the PTSD. It s taken me years to even speak about it. The darkest part of our memories Have consumed where the happiest once lived.
Gorgeous. Nice paintings on the wall. Mount monadnock paintings. helpful people taking drink orders. Attended a social event and had a great time. The potatoes are good.
Quaint New England inn. Comfy rooms, charming little town.. Will be back
The food was tasty but it took a long time to get our food. The wait staff was attentive.
Food was delicious but lunch service was a little slow.
A Wonderful experience at the Woodbound Inn. My daughters wedding couldn t have been nicer, start to finish. I m only sorry for the delay in sharing. Perfect location for stunning photos on an old county back road and a lake! Food and the venue is nicely done. Thank you for helping to make my daughters day a memorable one!
We went to a birthday event and was well planned and the service / staff was spectacular !
Great atmosphere, we ate outside with live music, surrounded by fairy lights. Food was very good, and waiter was very friendly.
From the first time my son and I visited Franklin Pierce University the people at woodbound have always been very accommodating, the food is out of this world and the service is always great. I highly recommend them. We go there everytime we visit my son as school.
Went for a wedding, staff super nice, property is beautiful, just really muggy and hot in the reception area
The food was good and warm, the staff was right on top of everything.went with a bus tour....
Great relaxing lunch! Cobb salad was large filling and tasty! Their pub buger was excellent last week too!
Pretty annoyed that the front desk didn't inform us of the wedding that was taking place that night. It's really difficult to describe a place as peaceful when you're being kept awake by a reception going on the floor below you. The hotel should reserve the rooms in the building above the reception hall for people from the weddings, or at least mention that there's going to be an event when someone tries to book. Based on the reviews I was expecting a pleasant, peaceful stay and was disappointed.
A nice place to get away! Really enjoyed our stay. Looking forward to another weekend we can get away to Jaffrey area. Bathrooms are spacious, though no bathtub, the shower is large. The room is quite nice size. Plenty of storage. Bar located on first floor. As well as a fireplace with couches for guests to sit around. Smokers area located outside screened in large porch. The house is old, so it the floors can a bit noisy. It has 3 floors of rooms. So, if you are handicap, it is best to ask for the first floor. There is no elevator. Unfortunately, my husband forgot to ask about getting a room closer to ground floor. So, we didn't leave the room until it time to check out. Front desk closes at 10. Causes issues when plumbing issue at night in room. Otherwise, really good stay.
Great food. Great service. Good portion size and the price was good.
Food quality is poor, burger was overcooked, dry, and tasteless. Slow service too makes this a place to forget. I won't be going back.
Incredible gem in the great white North!! I guarantee a pleasant surprise
I've stayed here many times on family trips to New Hampshire, each time was an absolute please. Great location near Keene and the Mass border. Cabins on the lake which is only a short walk through the woods from the main Inn. Beautiful rustic dining area/restaurant with cozy bar attached. Can't wait for the next trip up here!
Attended a beautiful wedding at this hotel. Play Barn was beautiful for small reception. Early quiet hours was a bummer. Bed and pillows were definitely on the hard side. Otherwise modern necesseties met. Lobby is dated but comfy.
Clean rooms and friendly staff
Great food.
I was told if I wrote a bad review they would sue me! The customer is always wrong at Woodbound inn..
Stayed here two nights, area is 5 star, the girls that work the desk are 0 star, the breakfast, 1 star for the coffee, then exterior is peeling lead paint, don't bring your kids, such a great history of the Inn with nothing offered to keep you coming back, small dogs are welcome in areas. Three Stars cause I love old inns.
Beautiful old Inn on a pretty lake. Very friendly and accommodating staff. Clean rooms and the food is excellent! Plenty of safe parking. I was here for a four day quilt retreat in the beginning of Nov. and it was a wonderful time. Highly recommend.
Always a great time. Great service, friendly staff. See you next year. Tom Carole Nick and Meg.
Wonderful place, peaceful, fantastic owners and staff, they went out of their way to make sure we were comfortable. The place feels like home!
Super cozy, friendly, accomodating, clean B&B. Def stay here again
Nice restaurant/bar area. Great front room/check in area with large TV.
