My elderly mother fell and broke her ankle in June 2015 and was sent to Windsor Vallejo Care Center in Vallejo, CA. She should be back home in the next few weeks. If you are able to choose care centers, don't choose Windsor. My 73 year old mother is alert and knows what's going on. But if you have loved ones who aren't don't send them there. If Windsor is the only option, I suggest you make your presence there known. They are always short staffed. CNA's walking off the jobs. The CNA's make it known that they hate it there. The call lights aren't answered in a timely manner. My mother's room mate was choking once on dried pancakes and so my mother and the lady in bed B started yelling for anybody, a CNA came in and told them to shut up. My mother was like that lady is choking. Now the patients/families got a letter that patients or families/visitors are not to go bother staff for another patient. In other words, if it doesn't pertain to you or your own family, mind your business!! I said, LIKE HELL!! I am not going to stand by not doing anything if someone else needs help. Then from the beginning, I was told Windsor did not supply bed pads "chux" and to make it easier on CNA's and my mother I should supply them. They don't want to change the beddings. My mother was there for the first couple of weeks, the bed sheets, pillow case was not changed. She didn't have a bath or hair washed. I was asked if I could supply wipes too. The CNA's were using 3 or more bed pads at a time. I told nursing that I have been spending $100 a month just on bed pads and to find out they were wasting them. My mother comes back from therapy and discovers some CNA came in to her drawers and took some of her pads. I ain't supplying them for the whole damn place. Then I am bringing in snacks and food once or twice a week so my mother doesn't starve. I have tasted the food. It's awful. The portions are real small and the food is dried up or disguised by a ton of gravy that you can't tell if it's ham or chicken. The dietary staff has walked off and housekeeping was doing the cooking. They serve the same thing to everybody. Not taking in account of the patient's diets. If they are diabetic or if they have allergies. I have worked in assisted living and care centers and those places weren't that great either but we were more organized and ran better. The housekeeping/laundry has lost clothing even though patient's names are marked on each item. Patients have had things stolen and Administration says it's not their responsibility. I questioned why then are the families filling out inventory sheets of all belongings and their value. One patient had laptop stolen and was told uh sorry it's not Windsor's responsibility. I have nothing good to say about Windsor. The only time they were full staffed and acted like they knew what they were doing is when State came in. Ombudsmen have been there many times too but I haven't seen a difference except when State was there.
At first I was having a hard time adjusting to getting injured and being here, but the Physical Therapy & Occupational Therapy are 5- Stars, CNAs, Social Workers are awesome, the Dietician is very kind and good hearted (Nurses too), also my Doctor is awesome, and the Wound Care Specialist is the best! All of the Staff here really does care and they work hard to meet our (the patients') needs. I enjoy most of the food here, but I am a picky eater. Vanilla ice cream is readily available afternoon & evening, thanks be to GOD. I feel at home here and this is my #1 choice over all Solano County facilities. I was here 5 yrs ago for Phnemonia, now 5 yrs later (just turned 61) and here for being hit by a car while riding my bicycle in Fairfield where I live now. I truly feel blessed to be here and the LORD is here. God blesses us here and Angels watch over us here too. I am in #400's rooms and care here is good. As stated in some other reviews, fight for your loved ones to get the best care here. Like they say, "A closed mouth can't get fed!" Honestly my roommate (a stroke victim) is also very well taken care of even when her loved one is not here. If the family and the patient are not deceitful, our needs will get met. They really do care here. Sometimes they need more family intervention to know the needs that need to be met. Many of us love the staff here and this is my home away from home.
I have been trying for 2 weeks to contact my brother since he has tested negative after isolation of a positive test for a few weeks. He has not answered his phone and I m not able to get anyone to check on him. I ve been placed on hold and no one returned.
my husband stayed here after his second hip surgery , he stayed for one and half week.they do great job for caring my husband.
Terrible place, messy, dirty and rude staff. Dont ever bring your relatives here. Poor safety and sanitation. Rated one star by reviews. Poor nursing care and terrible uncommunicative management. Never recommend
My mother fell and broke her hip and we needed rehab close to home; this was a poor choice. For starters, this is a nursing home, not a rehab facility. My mother was a nurse working in skilled nursing all of her career, and this was shameful. With a broken hip you cannot get out of bed & to the toilet alone...she would literally have to wait 15+ minutes for anyone to come assist her, and many times soiled everything waiting. Rehab patients are placed in the same rooms as "residents". The food was not very tasty. The staff appeared overworked and most seemed to be too casual. NEVER AGAIN will she stay here.
I wouldn't put my worse enemy here. This place is very unclean, dust and dirt can be seen in corners of the patients rooms. The food is very bad. If you're diabetic the meals contain to many carbs, for example a diabetic meal may consist of refried beans, red rice, a tortilla folded over with melted cheese inside and for beverage, 4 oz. glass of orange juice. My friend who was there for almost 3 months when he got an infection and was rush to Sutter Hospital with a 103 temperature and had to stay in ICU for 4 days. In those three months he was there he also had a bed sore near his tail bone.
Staff are told to come to work even if they are sick because they are short of staff. Reconsider putting your family members in this place especially if it's for long term care. I don't understand why they are allowed to stay open.
Most nursing homes are not good, this is one that is under that
Beware!!!!!! Of this nurse's home. Please don't bring your love ones here my mom got mistreated and had bed sores. By the staff. And she almost die for the hands of staff for not caring now my mother is fighting for her life and the head nurse' has not heart and a liar and rude !!!don't respect life of seniors citizen and disabled. And my mother had no iv on her they allowed abuse and malnourished every body please shut this place down my mom kidneys damage and because of ABUSE!!!!!!!!! Believe me God sees everything and what comes around goes around and I pray to God whoever done this to my mama God will make them pay
my grandmother hasn't been here long but so far they are amazing with her and one of her nurses braided her hair she look so cute lol
Please if you can, never take your love one here. I tried very hard to get my mother in one of the Fairfield facilities. But because of her condition only Windsor could take her. As long as she had Kaiser covering her and she was on the 400 hallway she was getting decent care. I would say 90% of the nurses there are only there for a paycheck. One of the LVN changed my mother's linen and was going to leave the dirty linen on top of her clean bed. Now mind you her Supervisor was standing right there watching her and never said a word. I spoke up and said I know you are not going to leave that there. She replied I was coming right back to get it. I then stated well put it on the floor or take it with you now. After my mother medical through Kaiser ran out she was moved to the 300 hall way. Once you are moved to the 300 or lower hallways the care gets worst. The wound care nurse changed my mother's wound and left the nasty, dirty, bloody bandages on top of her tray and I have the pictures to prove it. Then one day they had to send her to the hospital. They had brought her lunch right before she left. I went back there a day later to pick something up and that lunch was still sitting there. That should have been picked up when they picked up the lunch trays. I have pictures to prove that. I was told that they was the worst place and they were so right. If you are not there on a daily basis to make sure things get done and fight for your family member they will let them just sit there and lay there. Please I beg of you if you care for your love one try your hardest to put them somewhere else. This was first and only time I had to deal with a care home and it was the worst experience I ever had. Yes, I did try on many occasion to get her moved but because of her condition the other places couldn't take her.
The Business office and particularly their manager, Ciera, went above and beyond to help us get my grandfather settled at Windsor Vallejo Care Center. Thank you so much for making a very tough situation a little easier to handle.
Please do not EVER bring your loved one to this horrible place.
Love the people and friendly customer service.. especially that Administrator Kirk :)
I am appalled by this place. No one seems to know what anyone else is doing and you get non answers when you call. I can not get there often, but I am trying my best to get my son put of there. They either don't follow through or 6 people call to ask you the same thing.I've been talked to like I'm stupid. I've been told if I sign the admissions paperwork as reponsible person after insurance runs out that it doesn't mean I have financial responibity, it just means I'm the responsible person. What do you think it means? Living on SS, there is no way I can do that, and my son is not able to take care of himself. He can't walk, and he won't speak much. Lord, I pray I can find the right agency to get him moved!! It is so frustrating to try to get any help.
This place is HORRIBLE. Please never put your loved ones in here!!! They are short staffed and underpaid. Patients are being abused and neglected. One of the cnas were assigned 75 residents!!! State needs to shut that place down. If you put a family member in here, they are guaranteed bed sores, poor nutrion, and ABUSE!!!
