An overused phrase, "Best Kept Secret", applies here. What a delightful oasis on the outskirts of Sumner. You feel as though you're on vacation and have found that perfect nook of class, casual, ambiance and, of course, delicious unique meals.

Such a cute place! My friend brought me here for lunch and everything from start to finish was excellent. I had the peach tea, crab melt, caesar salad, and finished with the BEST chocolate cake. I am looking forward to returning soon.

We can never say enough good things about the Windmill Bistro. We have been going here for years. The food is great, the atmosphere is great and you really can't beat the owners' service and hospitality. If you live within driving distance of Sumner, WA check it out!

The last two times we have gone we have been told there would be 20+ minute wait even though there are clearly over ten empty tables. The host/hostess has been incredibly rude to us about the fact that they are "always busy" and that it's "worth the wait." The food is fine, but not worth the wait or the higher end price range.

My husband and I decided to celebrate our 27th anniversary here yesterday. GREAT decision! He had the Penne with Grilled Chicken in a creamed pesto sauce and I had the Crab Mac & Cheese. He also had a salad to start which was so large we HAD to share it. We finished with sharing a piece of the chocolate cake, too. Everything was incredibly DELICIOUS!!! SO DECADENT! And the cab wine I had with my meal was nice too. Our waitress, Shelby, was absolutely the best! Thank you, Shelby! We were very pleased that we decided to dine 'al fresco' surrounded by the gorgeous gardens. It was quieter than the dining room and the weather was very pleasant. All in all, it was one of the best celebrations we've had for our wedding anniversary, and we will definitely be back! This is now our new most favourite restaurant locally.

After lunch, we toured the beautifully maintained, fabulous greenhouse as well and treated ourselves to a couple of commemorative plants. :)

This place has great food and staff. But the people that eat here made my family uncomfortable. We are Hispanic and they kept giving us bad looks everytime we spoke Spanish and it was unnerving. It made us leave early.

We came here for a bridal shower in the windmill and it was a great experience. The grounds are beautiful and there's a tea shack with honey sticks and a variety of teas. The gift shop was closed on a Sunday, unfortunately. We had a little buffet of salad, fruit, and sandwiches that were all fresh and delicious.

The windmill Bistro is a very nice place to meet someone you care about. The food is decent but I wouldn't see the best. The surroundings, the atmosphere and a number of other things make this exceptional in the Sumner area however. They serve tea, there's a tea shop nearby in the complex that is exceptional, and if you want some quiet time and a nice atmosphere with a loved one this is the place to come and try out. Highly recommended.

Great food, place was packed, then after lunch, strolled through the plant yard, green house and gift shop. Lots of excellent finds. Will definitely be returning. May be a good idea to make reservations, we got lucky with the last table!

This is an exceptional venue for a lunch in the summer or inside in the fall or later. Prices are reasonable (under 15.00 for a lunch per person, with complimentary refills on delicious lemonade). The food is wonderful and nicely presented and there is a nice variety of offerings. The ambience set amidst well tended and gorgeous flowers is memorable. Take your mom, girlfriend, or gather friends here for a real treat. Then you can wander the multi greenhouses and enjoy or purchase one of their products, many are stunning and unique.

This review is for rental of the space for our rehearsal dinner.

When we decided to get married in Sumner, we knew we would love to have our rehearsal dinner somewhere in the area. After a quick Google search, we stumbled upon Windmill Bistro. We're glad we did!

The grounds are absolutely amazing and a stunning first look at the area for out-of-town guests. They have the perfect area for rehearsing a wedding, and in those nice summer months, the flowers are in full bloom and the weather is pleasant.

The nicest thing about this restaurant is that they closed the place for our private event. We were able to rent out the entire space, which is beautifully decorated and spacious. Even for our large group of 60, folks were able to mix and mingle.

Overall, I would highly recommend looking into Windmill for your rehearsal dinner.

That said, there are two areas of opportunity for the Bistro. Communication is challenging. Because they are a small restaurant, they do not have a full-time dedicated events person, so it wasn't always easy to get a response in a timely manner. Closer to our rehearsal dinner, it was better, but leading up was tough at times.

Second, I'd recommend that if you do a buffet, you opt not for the taco bar. While it was fine, it's very basic and bland. We've eaten there several times and have always enjoyed our burgers and seafood - I'd recommend going that route for your menu choice.

Overall, it was fantastic and the perfect way to kick off the wedding weekend!

They have a great selection of food. Staff is very friendly. Not a big place so it would be a good idea to get reservations. We didn't have them but they got us a table right off. Always enjoy eating there.

This place is amazing! The male server with the tattoos is awesome, I went there for the first time with my boyfriend last week for his bday and the food was soo good just like the amazing service we received.

I am however disappointed when I went back today with my sister & we got Amanda as our server and had to wait 10 mins to be served while we watched the male server be very prompt and attentive to all his tables. Next time we ll def be sure to request him due to his amazing costumer service, other then that this place is amazing.

I was very impressed with their food until I tried to work there(as a dishwasher) the main thing that bothered me was that just about every employee there touches everybody s food with bare hands without washing their hands and they are almost always on their (cellphones)
Mediocre

The Windmill Bistro has a friendly atonpshere. The portion sizes may not look like much, but are well worth the price for the quality of food you get. Very populated with many servers to assist you, when you come in.

For newcomers I would recommend calling to make a reservation first.

Great service. Great food. Their outdoor dinning tent for COVID compliance was very nicely set up and lots of heaters to keep you warm. It started raining during lunch which only added to the ambiance of being in a tent. The clam chowder was fantastic and the turkey sandwich was full of meat and flavor.

Got the sampler breakfast during my last visit and my bacon was surprisingly crispy. I usually get rubbery or super chewy bacon in breakfast places. My over easy eggs were perfect. I will come back, hopefully the indoor dining will be warmer

I love this restaurant - the food is great and the staff friendly. Yes sometimes they are slow but overall I have to give them a great rev and especially since they reopened. I especially like the new menu app at the tables - what a great idea!

Kathy Pearson - Yesterday I took some out of town friends to the Windmill for lunch. When we arrived about 1pm, there were approx 3 tables of two. I asked if we could sit outside and was told they weren't sitting people outside at that time. She also said there would be about a 25 minute wait for inside or outside. My friend said "Even with all of the empty tables?" and she said yes. She said they were at capacity and didn't have enough staff to take more diners at that time. We were very disappointed and decided that we weren't going to stay. We had a lovely lunch at another local restaurant.

The food was great, delivered quickly and the wait staff very friendly. We did have to wait 15 minutes despite open tables so "the kitchen could catch up" - perhaps more kitchen staff is in order?

Found this beautiful place pretty much by accident and could not have been happier! It was peak hours for Sunday brunch, so we had to wait a bit, but DEFINITELY worth the wait! Best breakfast we've ever had. All of the food was perfectly prepared and super delicious. And it's the cutest place! If you can, make a reservation in advance. You won't be disappointed!

The fish tacos were very tasty! The salsa verde was so good too. Would definitely order that for lunch again. Creme brulee was perfect, not too sweet. Service was great as well. All around good experience for me.

The service was slow. The Rueben sandwich wasn't the worst I've had but not good. The corned beef was flavorless, very small portioned and shredded? The sauerkraut was thin and flavorless, there was no type of sauce. My friend ordered cheese bread with her clam chowder. The waitress informed us the bread had fallen to the floor, they would bring a new serving. The bread came just as my friend was finishing her bowl of clam chowder. The bread was overcooked. Sorry to be so negative but this place is goung downhill. Used to be decent.
