About Williamston Theatre
Williamston Theatre: A Professional Regional Theatre for Intimate Storytelling Experiences
Williamston Theatre is a professional regional theatre located in the heart of Williamston, Michigan. The theatre was founded in 2006 by four local artists who shared a passion for creating intimate and engaging theatrical experiences. Since then, Williamston Theatre has become one of the most respected and beloved theatres in the region, offering a diverse array of productions that entertain, build a sense of belonging, and foster empathy for the human journey.
At Williamston Theatre, storytelling is at the heart of everything we do. We believe that stories have the power to connect us to each other and to our shared humanity. That's why we strive to create productions that are both entertaining and thought-provoking - productions that challenge our audiences to think deeply about themselves and their place in the world.
One thing that sets Williamston Theatre apart from other regional theatres is our commitment to intimacy. Our theatre seats just 88 people, which means that every audience member gets an up-close-and-personal experience with our actors. This intimacy allows us to create truly immersive productions that transport audiences into another world.
Another thing that sets us apart is our dedication to diversity. We believe that everyone's story deserves to be told - regardless of their race, gender identity, sexual orientation or socioeconomic status. That's why we make it a priority to produce plays by underrepresented voices as well as classics from established playwrights.
Over the years, we've produced dozens of critically acclaimed plays ranging from comedies like "The Nerd" by Larry Shue and "Doublewide" by Stephen Spotswood; dramas like "The Outgoing Tide" by Bruce Graham; musicals like "The Big Bang" by Jed Feuer & Boyd Graham; mysteries like "Sherlock Holmes & The Adventure Of The Fallen Soufflé" By David MacGregor; family-friendly shows such as “Junie B Jones Is Not A Crook” By Allison Gregory based on Barbara Park’s book series Junie B Jones; holiday shows such as “A Christmas Carol” adapted By Tony Caselli based on Charles Dickens’ classic novel among others.
In addition to producing high-quality theatrical productions year-round (with six mainstage shows per season), Williamston Theatre also offers educational programs for students interested in learning more about theatre arts including summer camps for kids ages 7-18 years old where they can learn acting techniques while having fun with peers who share similar interests.
We're proud of what we've accomplished at Williamston Theatre over these past fifteen years - but there's always more work left to do! We're constantly striving towards new heights when it comes not only producing great art but also being an active part within our community through outreach programs such as partnering with local organizations or hosting events aimed at bringing people together around common interests or causes they care about deeply.
In recognition of its excellence in producing quality theater experiences while fostering community engagement through outreach initiatives aimed at promoting social justice issues affecting marginalized groups across America today – including LGBTQ+ rights advocacy efforts – Williamstown Theater Company was awarded an American Theater Wing National Theater Company Grant Award Winner back in 2014 which further solidified its reputation among industry professionals nationwide.
In conclusion:
If you're looking for an unforgettable theatrical experience unlike any other you've had before then look no further than Williamstown Theater Company! With its commitment towards creating intimate storytelling experiences coupled with its dedication towards diversity & inclusion initiatives aimed at promoting social justice issues affecting marginalized groups across America today – this professional regional theater company has something special waiting just for you!
