I've been to many Jeff Mach events and they are always pretty awesome. Since they are almost always hotel based events, they tend to have a sort of intimate, friendly atmosphere, as opposed to the more impersonal feel I get from a lot of exhibition hall events.
People forget that, before last year's unremitting campaign by some to cast Jeff Mach into the outer darkness, just how fun these events were. What a space they were for glorious weirdness, where people came year after year and felt free to be themselves. They were the most open, least cliquish, most accepting places to be for all manner of interesting people and things. There was nothing quite like it.
Say what you want about Jeff Mach, he's good at this. The US northeast lost an almost magical thing when they drove Jeff from running events for a year, and I am very hopeful we'll get it back with Evil Expo!

I've known Jeff Mach for years now. He offered us the opportunity to perform at Steampunk World's Fair in 2012. This opened the gates of the world for my band Victor Sierra. Just think: at this time we were rookies in the steampunk world and he covered a good chunk of our travel expenses from Paris France! We have remained close friends since then.
