White Rock Theatre Review

Been a few times great atmosphere and al round good venue

Nowhere near enough legroom even for someone as short as me. Highly recommend booking aisle seats!

Situated right on the sea front opposite Hastings Pier this theatre feels just ever so slightly jaded but is full of character. Council owned but privately operated the theatre is used for a huge range of acts, except the big ones, partly due to back stage limitations. Free but highly competed for local free parking in streets behind theatre, and walking distance from the town centre. Has a bar and cafe with superb views along the sea front, over the pier and out to sea.

The show was very good but there was alot of drunk people being noisy and not being controlled

Great especially being disabled and in a wheelchair, nothing to much trouble, I've been there as a act and a customer A++++

Very tired dated looking theatre. Seating very close together and extremely uncomfortable. Wouldn't go back to see a show here again

What was bad: This place seemed absolutely manic. I entered to buy some tickets as a gift and there was a show about to start. A member of staff walked backwards into my child nearly knocking him over and there were different queues forming to different entrances, ticket booths and merchandise stands.
It had a disabled entrance, but how on earth a disabled person would have been able to safely enter the building is beyond me.
And the decor has not been updated for decades, it looks exactly the same as when I visited as a child.
When I got to the front of the queue I was asked for my personal details in order to buy the tickets with no explanation as to why my data was needed and how it would be used: this is against GDPR.
The technology they were using was very slow and the system deleted all my information so the poor woman had to start again. The woman adjacent to me was very distressed as she'd bought and paid for a large volume of tickets which couldn't be found on the system.

What's good: the quality and quantity of shows has hugely improved! Especially the levels of comedy show and kids shows. They certainly cater to a much wider audience than they have done in the past.
Externally the building has been maintained well, it is an important part of the identity of the town and so it is good to see the external decor maintained.
Their events guide is produced well and highlights a wide array of affordable choices heightening accessibility.
And even though the decor was outdated, it was very clean and tidy.

I think there is a certain level of expectation for show times to be busy and perhaps if I'd come at a different time I'd have had a smoother experience. However, that does somewhat put me off of attending a show there. I do think they should make customers aware of why/how/where data is being stored so as to comply with GDPR.

The lovely staff here really look after my son who is severely disabled. They understand that he may be unable to attend shows at short notice and make allowances according. I can't praise them highly enough.

Never been to a bad show/event at the White Rock Theatre. Both my daughter and son have performed on the stage with their school more than once each as well.

Theatre very good, downside is hastings is a complete toilet. Also depends on what your going to see

The venue is good - excellent views from all angles. Right opposite the pier, too, so that's a bonus. Facilities good, too. Bar expensive (White Rock hotel next door much cheaper!).

What an exciting night, we saw them last year but tonight they were excellent.

Great show and great theatre. Also the production of Aladin was brilliant another year and another great panto well done White Rock

The staff are friendly. It a nice place.we been few time and the tributes are very good.

Great old school venue, food is good, great character and charm

The only thing about the hotel is that you have something to think about. However, due to work, the manager has been going for weeks, so I only have a negative opinion about this place.

We came here to see Derren Brown and it really was a lovely experience.

Lots of childhood memories here and now watching my kids on stage is mad.

Venue is a classic style theatre not massive and no Air Con but staff are friendly and does the job

Visted for the first time to watch UB40. Was a great night. Very nice building, loads of space. Also nice bar areas.

Great venue, rumours of Fleetwood Mac outstanding and bar staff fab

Aladdin, what a fantastic pantomime! Get here and see it, you will not be disappointed. Huge enjoyment for the whole family. Loved it

A good bar, serving reasonably priced drinks and snacks. Comfy seats, good lay out with an intimate stage.

Nice venue but was not happy with the seating as it's so cramped and small. Paid for the best tickets to see the Nutcracker ballet, front top circle. Me and my daughter who is only 4ft and I myself 5ft 3 could not move our legs as our knees were rammed against the balcony wall. It was a very painful and uncomfortable experience and we had to try and sit sidewards across each other. To make matters worse the elderly gentleman next to me fell asleep. Has put me off buying tickets again as I don't want to sit at the bottom front craning my head up. I suffer with fibromyalgia and discs out in my neck. A shame as loads of tribute bands I would love to see .

The white rock is the place to see really good entertainment

we went to see Fairy g in christmas patio. very old place kids enjoyed show.

Lovely theatre. Plenty of leg room for those with longer legs though the seats themselves are a bit cramped but over all was great place and great show.

Not the nicest venue to visit. Parking is a nightmare, seats aren't very comfortable. Better quality/bigger shows seem to go to Eastbourne so it's normally worth traveling the extra distance to go there instead.

Been plenty of times with the kids plays brill and has disabled access

"Barry White" .. Do not bother!!
He didn't come on till 2nd half and it was rubbish! We paid to see him, not the backing singers but they were better!

Great show by the Drifters. Good value and very enthusiastic audience.

Took the kids to the panto here witch was brilliant the white rock is well suited for these events

Quite a large old theatre with a good atmosphere. There's a place for people to dance each side so they don't block peoples view during a show, which is good.

Plenty of shows put on regularly. Was a bit warm on the night we went and parking can be a problem.

Enjoy using our local theatre for lots of different events, easy bookings system too & the staff are always happy to help 5*

Very cramped seating and quite run down. But dirty dancing was amazing!!!!

Well worth a visit to view the shows. We visited to watch the White Rock Youth Theatre show of Grease and it was fantastic. The kids were brilliant and put on a great show. Would recommend a visit if you are in town.
