Good facilities, nice atmosphere join now don't wait till January!!

Excellent facilities, large pool and loads of tennis courts as well as sports hall, gym etc. Cafe not bad either - now no hot food on Sundays which is a shame.

I have not used the leisure center yet, but for a good part that is because of unfriendly staff, constantly in a bad mood who is not helpful and sometimes even slightly rude. If the actual center is good, I might raise the grading. Nonetheless the staff is unacceptable and incompetent.

Unclean changing room, a bit run down in that aspect, however the pool is clean and nice. The warm pool is not accessible unless you have a young child and is often full of swimming lessons inside public times (however this pool is very shallow and does not offer much). In the main pool, there are lanes for swimming down designated for slow swimmers, medium swimmers, and fast swimmers. There is also a general swimming area where you can bring in floats from the outside of the pool. Pool also has family fun sessions with mats and floats and a giant inflatable assualt course available on Sunday afternoons.

There is an increasing number of gyms in Abingdon and I do occasionally look at switching membership but none of them can offer the variety of services that this Leisure Centre can provide. Pay individually and you're looking at prices More

Pool water too cold for the children. Needs fixing as this is not the first time this has happened.

Nice venue. Too bad the tennis hall is not as well heated and that it is so far from Oxford.

Swimming pool, changing rooms, strong smell of chlorine.

This is an excellent , modern sports centre . The staff are always kind and helpful . My Pickleball group have 2 sessions a week here and the facilities are great for a swim before the game and a coffee with friends afterwards . The centre is always clean ,bright and colourful.

Steam room door and sauna room door are very filthy. Drain holes in the shower cubicles in the male changing room and in the sauna rooms are clogged with hair !!!

Large spacious facility with good parking and reasonable prices. Heated swimming pool and warmer kids pool. Sauna and hot room. Plenty of staff although can be a queue to pay on entry. Nice cafe to recover in and top up the energy levels.

Great facilities and friendly staff. Company ownining it has 0 clue about customer service.

While this leisure centre has fantastic facilities covering a huge range of sports, a huge swimming pool and great new gym, I can't give it more than a three as it's always grimy and dirty in the pool changing rooms. A simple cleaner would sort of out. I'd love to recommend it more highly but the cleanliness let's if down

Went for a swim with the grandchildren. Nice pools for adults with separate kids pool

Excellent range of classes, though would like to see Water Yoga introduced. Recent refurbishments have made some great improvements and the re-organisation of the gym means classes are no longer interrupted by the loud noises from the weights area. The two pools are often busy and you need to check the timetable to make sure there is availability for public swimming as with all pools. Not used the courts yet but am looking forward to using one of the try sport sessions to give these a go.

Bad experience here...staff were not added about anything and its dirty.

We are upset because opening time on Internet is different then reality Saturday up to 18:00 on Internet 23:00 .... I must search swimming pool in Oxford :/

The water has been too cold for the kids for the last week. They still take the direct debit from our kids but do not offer a fit for purpose pool. Any other business would pay to have it fixed asap. Very sad for the community that relies on this service.

Nice leisure centre but always dirty. Steam room desperately need cleaning. Mould and algae with slime all on wall and on seat. CLEAN THE PLACE!!!! Inspector needs to come and have a look.

People great. Management poor. Desk front poor and always have to wait often a queue with staff passing but always to busy waiting to do something else?

Facilities are ok but due to the number of admin issues you often need to phone in but they NEVER answer the phone.

Good swimming pool facilities, however lacks in cleanliness and hygiene. Dirty floors and changing booths which should be cleaned on a more regular basis.

Edited w.e.f 28/08/10 - these guys are doing a great job. Swimming here is so safe, well organised, fun & clean. Lifeguards are really on the ball and the whole place is being kept immaculate with plenty of staffing.
Can't see how they are making much money so god bless them for opening and WOW, they have done a really thorough and professilnal job with their Covid adaptations (unlike some other pools my family have encountered lately).

PS - great app they developed to book your swimming too. Simple & quick.

Use this place mainly for the swimming pool. Good sized main pool, 'toddlers' pool and small pool also inside with the former having a small bubble-jets section. So plenty of space for all ages, a good family facility.
But...needs repairs, more regular cleaning & decorating.
Loads of lockers missing doors or out of action altogether. Dirty changing room floors, peeling paint and a slight sense of too much shabbiness takes away from a good community facility.
Shame really. Just needs some more day to day diligence & a bit of money spent.

I am using squash courts moustly and I have to say that they should be hovered more often. Loads of dust in corners. Too complicated probably... :/

Really poor. Today they closed half of the toddler pool without warning halfway through our allocated hour, for a swimming lesson to leave eighteen parents and children cooped up in the shallowest bit so 4 kids can have a lesson. This was not indicated on the website for the timings we opted for (it was listed as being the case earlier in the day, hence our choice to come later). I spoke with other parents who were not advised about this lesson at the point of entry. Indifferent teenage lifeguards do not challenge aggressive pool users. Reception staff ignored us and other guests on arrival so they could tidy the desk. Dirty changing facilities and worse toilets. Snack facility closes at will, which is not great when you need to feed a hungry child post-swim. Staff really need to be trained better and be able to empathise with parents and their disappointed children. Was refused a refund because of 'my error' by the patronising 21 yr old duty-manager. Apart from that the parking is great. AVOID, GO SOMEWHERE ELSE!

I love this place. I do 1.5 hours in gym then swim a few lengths followed by steam room and sauna. I then have a cup of tea and baked potato with chilli beans . A great day out I do twice a week. My only suggestion is that Sauna should be kept at 90c and steam room is not always as hot as it should be.

Thank you so much for excluding my parents from your facilities by online only booking. Very inclusive of you. It can't be hard to take bookings on the phone. I say this having spent 9 years in leisure before my career. My mother did over 30 years including time at the 'Old Gaol' leisure centre before your centre was built! And now something so important to her as swimming is not achievable. Top marks for helping people deal with such a difficult time. Well done you are very inclusive!

Tennis lessons there are great for my little one. No problems with swimming pool but changing room floors dirty.

This is an excellent facility poorly managed and maintained by Better. We have spoken to the various Duty Managers many times but our comments are ignored.

As a prime example the extract ducts above the changing cubicles in the swimming pool area have not been cleaned for months. The dust is so thick it falls off in clumps and makes a horrible mess when this happens. It is also blocking the extract duct so preventing proper air flow and this must be increasing the running cost of the air filtration system in the centre.

As this poor maintenance is clearly visible in a public area what are the other areas like! Such poor maintenance is a health issue.

Simple routine maintenance is the easiest aspect of management, if Better cannot do this they should not be left in charge of this facility.

Nice pool, helpful staff, fully-priced yukky coffee. I couldn't swim so was confined to the canteen where the coffee was push-button, so unalterable. Thankfully, it was quite tasteless rather than tasting of something other than coffee; nonetheless I couldn't drink it. Since it was in my own cup, I gave it back to get rid of it.

Gym is not well equipped, it is however being redeveloped and extended at the moment so should be improved by Jan/Feb 2017.

Swim and sauna magic. Really good relaxing. Good price.

The staff are good, friendly and helpful. The facilities are good too. Generally the place feels a little overpriced though

Everything you need for a leisure centre under one roof. But management is another matter.

First time at the leisure centre since lockdown back in March. Happy I went early today, I enjoyed the swim and also there's nice and clear layout to make it safe. I recommend for the scepticals out there. Thanks to the lifeguards and reception staff.

We take my 18 month old daughter to the toddler pool. On 2 occasions the water has been cold. When we asked the reception staff the second time they said if it happened again to speak to the poolside staff as they can increase the temperature.
The air on poolside can often be cold too.
Clean facilities, toddler pool is brill, has a bubble section which is fun, my daughter loves it there!

It's got a decent gym. Plenty of courts. Good parking. However marked down for the cleanliness of the pool changing area.

Could be a great place, love swimming pool and steam/sauna but changing room floor disgusting says no shoes yet kids etc don't care no one says anything. Steam Room needs a clean it's slimy with gunge over the years otherwise it's ok ...

Shocking experience here today. On arrival we were told the baby pool would be a little cold - it was freezing! My baby was blue after 10 mins. Also very confusing instructions around the Covid guidelines. Our changing rooms are closed but they were open and people using them. No advise on the website or when booking that you should come swim ready. Have to leave your bags on the side of the pool as not allowed to use lockers. Was a snickers wrapper on the baby change table.

So been back to this leisure centre and the pool changing rooms are nasty/dirty and smelly!.. lots of hair and Hmmm stuff on the floors not nice with no shoes on .
Come on management sort this simple problem. I now have to remove a star .

Disabled toilet to the left of the automatic doors before swimming pool STANK of urine. NO toilet paper an the tap to sink wouldn't work plus lock faulty. I was told that someone would come straight away but in the time I waited for my grandsons swimming lesson to finish NO ONE came. Restaurant extremely clean staff very helpful
