My husband and I stopped for lunch a few days ago. We waited at least 10 minutes or so for someone to seat us. At least 3 employees saw us standing there and didn't even acknowledge us. We ended up just seating ourselves in a booth thinking maybe they were just busy.. There was only one other group eating at the time. We sat in the booth for another 5-10 minutes without any service. Yet again 3 employees looked at us and hung their heads and acted like they were busy. We got up and left. I used to recommend this place, but never again will I give them my business.

Just passing through from St. Louis to Chicago, I like to make stops at places like this that you cant find anywhere. It's casual dining, you'll be greeted with a loud "sit wherever you like" from the service area by servers that are dressed in normal, every day attire. We ordered the cheese garlic bread which is just a 16 inch pizza crust with butter, minced garlic and cheese that I haven't tried because the chicken-fried steak dinner which was an incredibly affordable $6.99 filled me way too up, I should have stopped 10 bites ago but cant let a good thing go to waste. White gravy was thick, creamy and flavorful, brown gravy was smooth and flavorful, mashed potatoes were my BEYOND favorite thing, it had chunks of potato that melted in my mouth, no chewing required. The only down side, unfortunately, was the waitress. It took them a while to get us menus and took even longer to get our food order, didn't bring out a steak knife for me, didn't check on us when our drinks got empty BUT she did apologize for the wait, rather than playing it off and I can appreciate that. It might have just been an off day for her but everyone was smiling and friendly and was still an overall pleasant experience.

I ordered a chicken strip basket and a chef salad. I ate 2 chicken strips and the 3rd one had something fried into it. I dont know what it was but it had legs. I showed waitress ( who was very appologetic) and she went to management (Tim)
She came back and said he was taking 2.00 off my order. Are you serious?! I ate 1/2 the salad and 2 chicken strips! That is all. I paid 13.00 for what little I ate before finding the unknown fried subject. I will never be back.

We love Whit's End. We always get good service and great food. Some nights they have buffets and it's very worth it. Great for going with kids. They have $5 kids meal includes drink. Great prices all around. Would def recommend if you're in Taylorville.

Chicken wing basket and meat loaf dinner were ordered. Wings were good, Cole slaw bad, FF'S okay. Staff seams to work hard but not tuned into customer satisfaction. Like serving the dinner salad first, not with the meal. I had to remind the waitress what came with the "basket" meals. The meat loaf rated pretry average by my husband. Noisy environment.

Not sure what to expect but stopped in to grab lunch on the way out of town. Service was good. Place was clean. More extensive menu than expected and food was good. I would stop by again.

Visited Whits End for Mothers Day brunch. Was very disappointed!! Food was great, but they did not keep up with restocking the buffet, at all, and there were not very many people in there. It was consistently out of at least 3-4 items, and people were standing around waiting for them to refill it. Then, when it came time to pay, we waited for 15 minutes for someone to come back and take the credit card. I finally scrounged up enough cash to just leave it on the table, so that we could all leave.

A great experience. I ordered the Tilapia, and got the salad bar, with my sides as french fries and mashed potatoes with white gravy. The salad bar was fairly well stocked, and the fish was pretty great.

We usually have an ok meal here. Last time it was a very weird experience. The place was a mess at 2pm. No clean booths. Then a weird guy named chip kept walking back and forth being loud on the phone.

Understaffed. When this establishment first opened, everything was top shelf. I had a chicken cordon bleu sandwich and soup with cold fries. I once would've given this establishment a 10 out of 10. Now I'll give it a 5. Food out of the kitchen was agonizingly slow. I won't be going back.

Horrible and never again. Had their "private room" reserved after a funeral. Went in and NO waitresses around to serve us. Had to get our own menus, our own water. Finally got a waitress to take our drink order. Waited 30 minutes for drinks. Then another long wait before food orders were taken then after AN HOUR still no food. When I politely asked the waitress if she knew how much longer our order would be, she gave me some attitude and said they were busy. I cancelled my and my husbands order and left our group to meet them up later. They KNEW a large group was coming in yet had no servers available. They showed zero respect to our situation (post funeral). Some of the guests chose the chicken buffet out of desperation for food rather than waiting on ordered food. They said the chicken and the chocolate cake was good but everything else was tasteless and lukewarm. Nope. Never ever again
