Wharfside Restaurant & Patio Bar Review

Three hours sitting by the water watching boats while relaxing the afternoon away with great food, drinks and an amazing view. Other than a large seagull who was clearly plotting against me to take my fried pickles away, the afternoon spent there couldn't have been nicer.

I was really disappointed with the food at Jack Baker's wharfside restaurant when my husband and I went for dinner the other night. The crab dip was very soupy and the Cod full a was supposed to be hand breaded and fried but it was batter dipped and fried and was pretty greasy. The crab meat stuffed salmon did not taste fresh.

Hosted a bridal shower upstairs in a private room with a gorgeous view. The food was great and the service was exceptional.

What can I say? Buckets of fruity alcohol, awesome seafood and a great view!! Go here, live the beach life and have fun!

Had our 40th Reunion/class of 79 David Brearley Regional High School. Had the room upstairs the bartender & waitresses were on top of everything. Beautiful place on the water.

So they have a good covid system where you scan a QR code on the table to get on line menu and serve food on disposable plates ..so also tables are outside on the patio bar , a good distance from each other, and a cop overlooks the whole thing from a corner.. we had the fish tacos and fish and chips and the fish was very light and flakey and batter not greasy like some places.. they also have a nice big rectangular bar..all drinks serves in plastic cups of course..also good view of the wharf and boats.. it can get pretty busy especially on a nice weekend evening..so try to go a bit earlier if you dont want to wait as long..

We've been going to this restaurant for the past 40 years. However, we've noticed a decline in the last 10 years, but kept hoping it would get back to where it used to be. The most recent visit now forces us to say we won't be coming back. Here are some reasons: 1-They no longer serve flounder (what fish restaurant doesn't serve flounder?); 2- Kids meals were not tasty; 3-Other entrees weren't good; 4- some of the items weren't even well cooked (e.g., baked potato was hard as a rock).

We realize that the loss of one customer won't affect the restaurant, but wanted to post our thoughts.

Fried shrimp and hush puppies very good. The salad , rice and coleslaw was disappointing. The salad was brown and the meat in it was not appetizing at all. The coleslaw was limp and warm. The rice completely flavorless. If the sides were better could have been a great dinner.

I had the crispy crust crab meat cake and I posted on Facebook BUT I don t know how to connect with my google and Google map ????? So look on Facebook for my photo! I was in the Point Pleasant Restaurant!! I understand you own the three Restaurants near this Wharfside Restaurant !! I m from Chicago visiting my best girlfriend since 2nd Grade and we went to high school in Bernardsville NJ with Meryl Streep so I will tell her about your Restaurant!! I don t think she comes back to NJ but she did come to our 50 th Class Reunion!! She is a very humble person!!! Good lunch w your Restaurant ! Do you give out coupons or discounts for return customers??

Disgusting! Food is not an option there...the outside bar not appeassing at all staff is so unprofessional food is not presentable just a place to have drinks and that's it..... But the shrimp box amazing!!!!

Same menu for years. Which I get. Kind of a blue plate special and tourist crowd type spot.

I would not knock the bar menu. Wine menu. Or waitstaff. They are top notch.

The menu is my beef. Very simple. Broiled or fried. Not a lot of new ideas or new items.

You will receive corn fritters, bread and a bowl of coleslaw to begin the meal. I had lettuce wedge. For 9$ it was a good meal, with blue cheese, bacon and onions.
My friend paid $18 for cod with mixed vegetables. For an extra dollar he ordered onion soup. He was very satisfied with his meal. Food is fresh, flavorful and reasonably priced. And the server Beth was very sweet.

Lunch was extremely overpriced, even the lunch specials. I used to love coming here, never again.

Great views. Food is "ok". Fish was like you get in a chain restaurant, salad terrific, great unique mixed drinks menu.

Very busy even with covid, and a little pricy but food is good. Had a view of the water where there is apparently sandbars visible at low tide, which is neat to see people walking on some times. Was given Cole slaw and then a plate of donut holes (or zepolies?) and parm bread at the start, which wasn't charged from what I could tell. People in my party enjoyed their drink specials (spiked lemonade and tropical sangria) and the seafood in our dishes was fresh, so no complaint there. Nice view and good food.

Delicious food. If you order a salad with your food, thet make it in front of you. The clam chowder is also delicious. A peaceful family place. I had perfect food and our waitress was so nice.

I got sick eating here and the manager did not want to hear it. Told me to go to the doctors to get proof. HORRIBLE.

Great food, great service, great music, great sunset views on the water... you couldn't want anything more. Did I mention great service?!?

Excellent fresh seafood. My wife and I eat here frequently. Its where we went for diner after I proposed 21 years ago

Jack Bakers has great seafood and an excellent and professional staff, if you sit by the window overlooking the water and can catch the sunset than your getting the complete experience.

Had a nice dinner with a water view table. Thought it was a little pricey for the food quantity.

The atmosphere here is pretty amazing but the food is really lacking. I got the steak street tacos and they were emptier than the stomach of a citizen of Russia under Stalin. If there was more steak it would have been pretty decent. Although the steak that I did get was pretty good.

Last thing I'll say is that the staff should do a better job of managing the tables. It was PACKED with no where to sit, but they had customers with a party of 5 taking up two tables that could have fit 8 people. When there is nowhere to sit that's just unacceptable. Tell them to crowd in and free up the second table so another party of 4 can sit down and enjoy their time there.

Lastly, they use paper cups a lot which I'm assuming is because they are pretty busy, but that's pretty unsustainable. At least they aren't serving water 9 times though in new cups like Bakers.

The Amish band was pretty good and the view was awesome.

The food is very good. The portions are small. I was a little surprised when the food came to the table. The wait staff were fantastic. The service was impeccable. Could not ask for abything more. I have been there many times before i have never seen such small portions.

Good food for a shore bar, great drinks. We go for the live bands.

Nachos and rolling rock draughts. What could be bad?

Cole slaw and pop k pers were terrific. Lobster was good, but a little tough.

This is a wonderful restaurant. My grandmother knew Jack Baker back in the day. Every time I've come here the food has been excellent and the staff friendly and welcoming. If you're in Point Pleasant, this is a great place to visit.

Oysters weren't great but the restaurant is lovely and great staff. I super enjoyed my lobster and king crab

Amazing. You need to stop here and really have an amazing by there water eats.

This the first time we have had bad dinners. They lost a loyal customers. Called and told manager and he seemed unconcerned

We called and were told that we could not make reservations but that the wait was only 5 minutes. When we got there we were told the wait was over an hr. We put our name on the list and waited, only to be seated under a tent in the parking lot. Nobody told is there was a separate list if we wanted to be seated in the restaurant itself! My friend was not having it and so to avoid her getting upset they seated us in the restaurant. The security guard was rude and the food was good.

Food was above-average and we enjoyed it sitting at the bar but if the bartenders don't know you they ignore you practically begging for refills

Great place! Didn't have any food because you needed to walk to a different location for food, but I did like the atmosphere :)

Good place, but bartenders are hit and miss. Some friendly some not so much.

Live music was good and so was the food. We ate outside at the bar.

The bartending staff left us sitting for 40 minutes before informing us of their "high school lunch room" type ordering, where you have to go to a counter and order instead of being waited on...

Then after eating my food I was left sitting for 20 minutes without being seen by any wait staff..

I eventually reached over the bar to get a to go container and was kicked out for doing so..

Will never go back here, completely unprofessional and horrible service to say the least...

Went to Wharfside with my family to celebrate my mother's 75th Birthday. The food was awful, nothing but a bunch of slop! I will NEVER recommend it or be back! Jack Bakers should be ashamed of the food they serve to people. I can make a better crab cake and steak! One of the biggest disappointments at the shore! The only thing good was the wait staff and the company of my family.

This was the place I chose to celebrate my 50th Birthday. Prices were great. There was an awesome live band.

Was there twice this week. First time wasn't so bad but a few things I have to complain about. The fried calamari was dry. The service wasn't bad once a server came to the table but we waited 15 mins for someone to come by until they finally did. The antipasto salad that comes with the dinners I was very excited about - when it came out it had 2 tiny little strips of salami with multiple mushrooms, chickpeas, and onions- very disappointing. An antipasto is supposed to have meats, cheeses, and veggies and all this had was lettuce, 2 little pieces of salami, and a whole bunch of chickpeas, onions, and raw mushrooms. When we went back a second time-actually last night in fact- I ordered an antipasto salad again to give it another try. This time my salad had only one piece of salami and the other 3 salads at the table had two little pieces. Again very disappointed. Also, I wanted the surf and turf but wanted to sub the lobster tail for some shrimp or scallops and told that that was an uncharge. I am very familiar with prices of food as I am a restaurant owner myself and to throw 4 or 5 shrimp or scallops on a dish is still cheaper than a 5oz lobster tail. Ended up getting the Halibut on special and was very over cooked and dry. Will give it another try in a few weeks.

Perfectly 'OK' dining experience - and our server was excellent and very pleasant. Sure, nice view. But, unless that view is your objective, save your $$ and go to Shore Fresh Seafood instead.

Always enjoy the atmosphere and the food is always good.
