My experience at Westwood Cycle was unprofessional...
My experience at Westwood Cycle was unprofessional, unsafe, and an experience of rudeness and disrespect from staff. A friend of mine had a bicycle that needed a minor repair. I (regretfully) told him to call Westwood Cycle to see if they could fix it and the person on the phone said to bring it that same day. Since it did not fit in my friend's car, I offered to pick it up and drive it to Westwood Cycle. This was during the COVID-19 pandemic when the Executive Orders of the Governor required that masks be worn at businesses. Upon arrival, the man helping us that was INSIDE the shop did NOT cover his face and instead had a mask around his NECK. He approached us well WITHIN 6 feet (again, against the social distancing guidelines) AND without a MASK while talking to us. I felt extremely uncomfortable because he was talking and coming close, without a mask that is supposed to protect other people, i.e., your customers. I thought he would catch on, since we were wearing masks and backing away nervously, but when he didn't cover his face, we had to ask him to actually WEAR his mask. With respect to the repair, even though the person on the phone said they could fix it and to bring it right over, the man "helping" us said that they were "too busy" to fix such a minor repair and that we should go to a hardware store, get tools ourselves, and fix it ourselves. He also asked "who did this to the bike??" and was looking for someone to blame for the necessary repair to the bike (even though I explained that I was gratuitously bringing the bike for repair for my friend since it did not fit in his car and it was not my bike). In addition to making us feel unsafe, it was so rude, disrespectful, and poor customer service. I would gladly drive to any other bike shop in the surrounding towns out of my way than return to Westwood Cycle and I regret recommending Westwood Cycle to my friend. I do not recommend this shop. I do not feel like they care about their customers and that they only care about making money off of the more costly repairs.
