My experience at Westwood Cycle was unprofessional...

My experience at Westwood Cycle was unprofessional, unsafe, and an experience of rudeness and disrespect from staff. A friend of mine had a bicycle that needed a minor repair. I (regretfully) told him to call Westwood Cycle to see if they could fix it and the person on the phone said to bring it that same day. Since it did not fit in my friend's car, I offered to pick it up and drive it to Westwood Cycle. This was during the COVID-19 pandemic when the Executive Orders of the Governor required that masks be worn at businesses. Upon arrival, the man helping us that was INSIDE the shop did NOT cover his face and instead had a mask around his NECK. He approached us well WITHIN 6 feet (again, against the social distancing guidelines) AND without a MASK while talking to us. I felt extremely uncomfortable because he was talking and coming close, without a mask that is supposed to protect other people, i.e., your customers. I thought he would catch on, since we were wearing masks and backing away nervously, but when he didn't cover his face, we had to ask him to actually WEAR his mask. With respect to the repair, even though the person on the phone said they could fix it and to bring it right over, the man "helping" us said that they were "too busy" to fix such a minor repair and that we should go to a hardware store, get tools ourselves, and fix it ourselves. He also asked "who did this to the bike??" and was looking for someone to blame for the necessary repair to the bike (even though I explained that I was gratuitously bringing the bike for repair for my friend since it did not fit in his car and it was not my bike). In addition to making us feel unsafe, it was so rude, disrespectful, and poor customer service. I would gladly drive to any other bike shop in the surrounding towns out of my way than return to Westwood Cycle and I regret recommending Westwood Cycle to my friend. I do not recommend this shop. I do not feel like they care about their customers and that they only care about making money off of the more costly repairs.

To echo several other negative reviews, unless you have several thousands in your budget, they don't care too much about your business or providing any quality of service. Other options located in Park Ridge, Ridgewood, Paramus, and Wyckoff.

They deserve the awesome ratings they have.
They are very professional and personal. They did an awesome job on my bike.
This just became my go-to bike shop.

Parking is street parking I believe.. unless there s more parking near the back that I didn t see.

The store is a blue building on a quiet street, can t miss it.

Still have my bikes I bought from WWC about 20 years ago and still running strong. Great place, thinking of buying my next bike there very soon. Was saddened to see the new bad reviews from people who are just sad and angry because of covid. I remembered nothing but great employees, products and service as my many years as a customer here.

Mark and Dean are great! I ve recently gotten bit by the cycling bug and decided to try this store after trying a few other local shops. They took the time to listen to the types of riding I was interested in and recommended multiple options in my price range they had in stock. After making my selections Dean took the time to make sure the bike was properly adjusted for me. I ve purchased 3 bikes from this shop over the last year and a half along with other cycling gear because unlike the internet, they make sure you re set up with what s right for you.

Unbelievably poor customer service. Staff moved repair date 3 times. Originally told ten days then said the bike wouldn t be ready for an additional week and then the following week I was told an additional week. The staff was not at all concerned with keeping their word or any form of customer service for that matter. Disappointed and disgusted with this bike shop. To those reading this review please take serious consideration before bringing your bike here. Highly, highly recommend going elsewhere. If I could give it zero stars I would.

They solved my problem in 5 minutes. However, they are understaffed relative to the demand. Also, customers are TOO CLOSE to each other in the store. The store needs to LIMIT the number of people allowed in at any one time in accordance with sane and rational public health REQUIREMENTS. I would have liked to walk around and see what else they have but the store is too small and really only has space for a couple people at a time unless you want to get Covid-19.

I find most people who work at bike shops are really friendly, very helpful, extremely knowledgable, and love cycling, and yet the team at this bike shop still really stand out. These guys are great, no matter how busy it gets they take time to get to know you, help you, and give great advice. I don't think you could find a better bike shop. I've gone here for service and to buy, and have always been really happy.

Went there to buy my kid a bike. Marc is great. He provides excellent service and advice on bikes. This place has racer bikes for serious riders and a good selection of kid bikes. Yes its true they won't let you ride the bikes but still they are good people.

Horrible customer service. Called the day prior and had them set aside two items for me to purchase the next day and then they sold those items even though they were last in stock. Sad to find a local shop that doesn t respect their word

Horrible customer service. The guy had a bad attitude and walked up to my car as I walked away because of his bad attitude. Please do not walk up to my car next time, because god forbid I didn t see him and accidentally hit him. I wouldn t recommend coming to this place at all.

Well I took my bike there today for repairs , I just wanted them to tune it up, it s been in the shed. Well I guess it was the owner, rude person , likes he s mad about something, he thinks he s to good to work on older bikes ,said to me first you need to clean it up because it was dirty , of course it s dirty it s been in the shed , but the way he said it was like you need to clean it up, me ? that s why I m bringing it to you. He also said it s was to old, not worth for him to work on it. So he put air in the tires and say see what happens Well I m 57 , am I do old to be fixed up? I have two other bikes at home. He will never get my business again. I built my own gym and I will fix my own bike.
Once a business thinks it s to big to cater to the little people, very soon they will go out of business .

I recently bought a bike and rode it long distance home. Everyone at the shop was super helpful, from making sure I had the right route home to making sure my safety was covered. The shop itself just sends a better vibe than shops in my area. I would highly recommend!

We went to Westwood Cycle today (7/25/2020) to purchase a bicycle for my daughter in the $2000 price range. The young man who was assisting us was helpful with her trying different sizes, and answering questions. A little while later, the owner ordered the young man to stop assisting us, and to help other people because a line was forming outside. The young man was diligent enough to ask another co-worker to assist us when he was finished with his customer. We were going to purchase a bicycle with the young man, but was turned off by the owner s attitude and demeanor towards us. I guess in his haste for a dollar, he assumed that someone who looks like me was a waste of time. One of my two road bikes cost $11,000, but this was my daughter s first road bike so I kept it in the $2000 price range. Needless to say we left Westwood Cycle and was able to purchase a bike for $2600 at Ridgewood Cycle. The staff at Ridgewood were all friendly, professional and accommodating. I am sure the owner will treat you differently as long as you don t look like me.

My friends and I used to go to this store when we were kids in the 80s. Loved it then and now.

I recently purchased a used Cannondale bicycle for a great price. It suits my needs perfectly. Alex and Mark were very friendly and helpful. Look forward to doing business with them in the future.

Great friendly service! They are super busy right now, phone was ringing off the hook every time I was there and had to wait for people to leave to get in the last time (It's nice to see they are taking proper Covid19 precautions). With awesome service from friendly and informed staff it is easy to see why they are so busy.
