About Western courier
Western Courier: The Independent Student Newspaper of Western Illinois University
Western Courier is the independent student newspaper of Western Illinois University, serving Macomb since 1905. With a rich history and a commitment to providing quality journalism, the Western Courier has become a trusted source of news and information for students, faculty, staff, and community members alike.
At the heart of the Western Courier's mission is a dedication to providing accurate, timely, and relevant news coverage. Whether it's breaking news on campus or in the community, in-depth investigative reporting on important issues facing our region or thoughtful analysis of local events and trends, our team of talented journalists works tirelessly to bring you the stories that matter most.
But we're more than just a newspaper. We're also an important part of campus life at WIU. Our staff includes students from all majors and backgrounds who are passionate about journalism and committed to making a difference in their community. Through our work at the Western Courier, we provide opportunities for students to develop their skills as writers, editors, photographers, designers - whatever their interests may be.
In addition to our print edition (which is published weekly during the academic year), we also have an active online presence through our website (www.westerncourier.com) and social media channels (Facebook: @westerncourier; Twitter: @westerncourier; Instagram: @westerncourier). This allows us to reach even more readers with up-to-the-minute news updates as well as engaging multimedia content like videos and photo galleries.
So why should you read the Western Courier? For starters - because we're awesome! But seriously - if you care about what's happening on campus or in Macomb; if you want to stay informed about issues that affect your life as a student or resident; if you appreciate good writing and thoughtful analysis - then we think you'll find something worth reading in every issue.
And if you're interested in getting involved with the Western Courier - whether as a writer, photographer, designer, or just a general supporter - we'd love to hear from you! Contact us at editor@westerncourier.com or stop by our office in the University Union (Room 130) to learn more about how you can get involved.
In conclusion, the Western Courier is an important part of campus life at WIU and a trusted source of news and information for students, faculty, staff, and community members. With a commitment to quality journalism and a passion for making a difference in our community, we're proud to be the independent student newspaper of Western Illinois University.
