Extremely courteous cashiers and generally very fresh fruits and produce. Sometimes there are great sale prices on organic vegetables. A place to go for quality fruit freshness, but pick and choose carefully as some of the prices are quite high.

First time shopping here. Of course went with my children, they loved it! Think this will be our new go to market. As for the prices, I personally haven t found prices that match the product until I came to this store. Your really only paying for quality here haven t seen to many over priced items. Also a blind person could tell exactly what area of store they are in, with every turn delicious fragrant cheese, breads I was so pleased.

I love this place even more than my wallet hates it. Expect to pay through the nose for produce and packaged meat. The Garden of Eden's strength comes from their house-made products. The meat and fish counters are of the highest quality. Their prepared buffet and even the sushi is phenomenal. And above all, their crumb cakes (across from the fish counter) are beyond phenomenal. Combine that with the welcoming, helpful staff and the calming classical music they play and you've got a fantastic market.

I asked a man working in the vegetable section to please raise his mask while I pass by and he refused. A manager asked him for me so he raised his mask until the manager turned around then he completely took it off. I tried to stay away from him but ran ibto him again as I tried to get thru the aisle and asked again if he would please raise his mask just for me to pass by. He laughed at me and said " shop somewhere else". I left a whole shopping cart of groceries behind and went to a different store. I guess I wont be back to Garden of Eden.

Loved to shop here BUT NOT online. Their site is disgraceful! I was glad to learned that they have this kind of service. Just shopped here. After entering all my required informations in order to complete the purchase, the site was just keep processing and of course doesn't gives you the status of my order. I refresh the site and do it again but same problem occurred. When I checked my bank account the two re runs I did was both taken out. Hope the management fix their site.

Only place I know on Manhattan that has Turkish Merve Yogurt and labne (like sour cream but not sweet you eat straight) and cheapest place in Manhattan to get Ayran. Only truly sour yogurt I know besides coach farm.

This store sells rotten fish. Granted great layout, friendly service, and generally good quality stuff but at the end of the day none if this matters if you are going to sell a shoddy product and then refuse to apologize.

Yesterday I bought a whole fish (red snapper) from this store along with a small piece of tuna. The tuna was fresh but when I unwrapped the red snapper I suspected it was not. I cooked it none the less but one bite in I was overcome by a pungent and sour taste. The fish was decidedly rotten.

Now I understand, quality control errors happen but when they do I expect 1. an apology and 2. appropriate compensation. When I explained my story today to both the manager and the fish guy, I was given neither an apology nor a refund. Both rudely questioned my intentions and I walked out of the store without an apology or my 20 dollars back.

Even if this is just a one off mistake, they way the store handled it is indicative of some serious problems. They swindled me with a shoddy product, hopefully you won't make the same mistake. Go to west-side market or literally anywhere else. At those places they don't serve rotten food and the service I presume is at least passable.

P.S: Also, I almost forgot, the funniest thing about this whole debacle is that the fish section still had fish which looked rotten and were at minimum not very fresh (cloudy eyes, limp browning flesh, and funky smell). I mean, come on.

ZERO STARS. The Asian cashier who served me this morning was very rude and nasty simply because I asked for a plastic bag. I had been coming in five days a week for months, but they'll never get another penny from me.

This has been my primary grocery store for years, but I can no longer justify the expense. $7 for a bottle of corn oil? There appear to be fewer and fewer customers in there every year, and the owners seem to compensate by continually jacking up prices. They might try improving their products selection instead. I understand that it's a small store, but they make some pretty strange stocking choices. The wall of functionally identical olive oils, for example, seems an extravagance.

As many other reviewers have noted, it's badly overpriced. Some of the prepared food is OK, some is flat disgusting (I've had to throw out stuff from the salad bar that I'd just bought). Nice concept, mediocre execution. Some ok employees, but some are surprisingly rude.

The service at this store gets worse by the day. The folks behind the fish, cheese and pastry counter basically ignore customers until you demand service. The cashiers, though, are very nice, so go figure why they have such apathetic employees manning the food area. I have walked out a few times tired of waiting for someone to take care of me. I just walked out again tonight and headed for West Side Market on 110th Street where the service is much better and friendlier--including the cashiers.

This has been my supplemental Go-To Artisinal Market for Decades! The selection of fresh produce out of this world--not to mention the vast array of bakery delicacies along with the staple grocery list essentials with a gourmet-flair infusion! So, if you find that you have not had a chance to stop into your nearby market, but find yourself in Garden Of Eden Marketplace--all of your shopping needs and THEN SOME will definitely be met!

Grossly over priced ... they charge 13.99 for garbage bags 17.99 for raos tomato sauce that wholefoods has 7.99! Most veggies are not organic but priced as if . Your better off to eat out and get served . I also Twice I bought meat for diner that was rotten on the opposite side. I threw it out and the y would not give me my money back unless I brought it in. So I was to bring it to work with me all day and then bring the rotten meat in to their store. Argh ...It s a money pit

My husband and I have been coming to this supermarket on a weekly basis for 3 years now. The produce quality is good. The food is pricier than other supermarkets in the area, but we live a block away so it is worth the convenience. You can also get 10% off if you have a student ID or a garden of Eden card.

Despite its convenient location and good produce quality, the staff's unprofessionalism and attitude makes shopping at this supermarket an unpleasant experience. Some of the cashier staff are very rude- they don't greet you or smile or say anything at all other than the total price. I have also seen the cashier staff giggling behind the counters and too busy with their own phones or conversation to call the next customer and keep the line moving. A few weeks ago I even saw a cashier crouched down hiding while watching a movie on a tablet. This is very inconvenient after a long day when I just want to pay for my groceries and go home. Despite being annoyed by the cashiers' behaviors, I continued to come to this supermarket because what the heck! What's life without a good laugh? The cashier girls are young, hopefully they'll learn to be professional some day.

My experience today, however, was the straw that broke the camel's back. My friends and I are planning a surprise birthday picnic for our mutual friend and I was responsible for purchasing the cake. I took a picture of the cakes to send to the girls so that we could decide together, and right away a staff member who I believe must be the manager, told me not to take any pictures. I explained my intentions to him, and he repeated himself, this time with an attitude. I said I was there to buy a cake, not steal his ideas. And he told me it was "just business." I have no interest in the baking industry, nor in coming back to this place. Unfortunately I was too tired from my long day to go to west side market, so I bought the cake anyway, however, I will not be returning. I'll stick to fresh direct and west side market, which have better prices, friendlier staff, and equally good food quality.

It s heartbreaking to see what has happened to this store as of late. I have been a loyal customer for three years. During the past several visits, I have been belittled and derided by the male bakery clerk on Sundays for no apparent reason. For nearly three years, the bakery staff were friendly, jovial and caring towards me and the other customers. I don t think I can bring myself to shop at this store any longer... it s just too painful of an experience.

The staff is incredibly warm and friendly, they're always willing to go the extra mile to find something you need. It feels more spacious than many NYC markets, and that extra room to navigate the aisles is really useful. Their deli bar is wonderful if you need a quick side in a hurry, and their student and senior discounts are very generous.

This is a great supermarket, stocked with organic and fresh products. Very large, fully stocked, offers online shopping, and very helpful staff. Whether you are looking for all organic meat to salad dressings, this place carries it.

I ordered groceries including a sirloin steak. The steak was not fit for human consumption. It was NOT a sirloin but some other type of meat. This store has really gone down hill but I suspect they ripped me off advertising this during a crisis. Stay away from these guys.
