Had a ureteric stent and radical nephrectomy (full kidney removal) done by Brian Stork in 2016. He was very informational, professional, and I had no problems during or after either of my surgeries. I also saw Lisa Thurman after surgery for getting my staples removed and healing check-up s she was very friendly and helpful. I definitely recommend West Shore Urology!

I was referred to this office by my Primary Care Physician. A month later they sent me paperwork including a scheduled appointment for two months after that. I filled out and returned the paperwork, and later called to confirm my appointment, explaining that I am a business owner and the time of the appointment was during my normal business hours and would require me closing my business. I asked if I would be seen as scheduled and was assured that the wait time was usually not excessive. I had my doubts when I arrived and signed in. The sign in sheet was ten patients long, and the reception area was crowded.
I waited patiently and was finally called up 10 minutes after my scheduled appointment and informed there was still paperwork I needed to get filled out. I explained I had already done all of it and was informed then that they needed to call my insurance to get authorization. I then asked how much longer I would have to wait, and was informed it would be at least another hour plus.
When I explained my situation, I was told I could either wait or reschedule. I couldn't wait as I had to be back at my place of business so I checked into rescheduling. The next available date was not until the end of January so I politely informed them that I would find another Urologist that considered his patients time as valuable as his own.
Maybe I'm being a jerk but I sure that had I shown up an hour and a half late for my appointment, I would not have been seen. Emergencies happen, but communication is key as is proper scheduling, and this business can't seem to do either one.

Physician was great, everything else was not. Was supposed to be referred somewhere else and they had me complete tests for this referral . Never got an update on test results then a month later still never heard from the place they apparently referred me to. Called back and they said they had no idea what I was talking about. Once again said they would refer me and call me back with the details. Waited over a week. They told me the same thing. Guess we will just see. Communication is BEYOND AWFUL. Will never ever go here again.

I had my first appointment at West Shore Urology P...

I had my first appointment at West Shore Urology Plc, with Dr. Jessica Phelps last week. I was skeptical at first, as I was not greeted very nicely by one of the gals behind the counter....almost snapped at! So I became a bit nervous. I was 15 minutes early for my appointment, as they had directed, and I had completed the pre-registration over the phone so thought I had that out of the way, but none-the-less was handed a clipboard with several pages of medical history questions to complete, which I thought was odd after I had already pre-registered, but what the heck. Before I could complete the first page I was greeted by a very nice young woman (I wish I could remember her name because she deserves to be recognized for her positive attitude and friendly demeanor) and was escorted to one of the many examining rooms. It was the normal routine of her asking me a few medical questions, taking my BP and an ultrasound of my bladder....all the time she was very friendly, making conversation and she really put me at ease. Once finished with her work she left the room and told me not to worry about the papers, that I could work on them until Dr. Phelps came in. Within a couple of minutes there was a knock at the door and Dr. Phelps appeared at the door and introduced herself. I was a little taken back because she was quite young and pretty .... but I guess at my age everyone looks young :-) Dr. Phelps immediately shook my hand and introduced herself and it was like we had known each other for years....she came across as very professional as she asked what I came in for, and as I spoke she listened very attentively. We discussed my issues and concerns and I "didn't once" feel like she was distracted or in a hurry to get on to the next patient/appointment; I've felt this from other doctors in the past and it isn't a very good feeling at all! And, even though the discussion revolved around some pretty personal topics and related concerns, I felt totally comfortable and at ease because Dr. Phelps genuinely listened -- without interrupting, without looking at her watch, without changing the subject....which to me speaks volumes for her integrity. She was not only a good listener, she also responded with empathy ...and I want stress the fact that she was very patient and thoughtful of my situation and took the time to really listen to what I had to say, discuss her thoughts and conclusions very clearly and precisely....and I didn't feel rushed like I have with some other doctors. And I also felt respected and like I was important to her. Talk about a wonderful experience! Dr. Phelps is amazing - and really knows what she's talking about. She performed the examination and I was at ease the entire time... I wish she was the ONLY doctor I had to deal with, because there aren't many doctors around like Dr. Jessica Phelps! Take it from someone who has seen their fair share of doctors. Anyway, to sum it up, I will continue to see Dr. Phelps as my new urologist and am grateful to have found her. I highly recommend that anyone who is looking for a bright, intelligent, friendly, caring and thoughtful urologist look no further. Thank you Dr. Phelps and please don't ever change!!

I had been seen here before 4years ago with a kidney stone and I had to have a procedure to remove it, it was large and blocking. I now have another stone had it for 11 days and called to make an appointment and the receptionist was very rude, she said the earliest they could get me in was in May, with a PA, wait another month with this painful kidney stone. I said I was seen before and she said since it had been 4 years, I was no longer considered a patient, she was a very impatient and rude receptionist, not kind or compassionate.

I called Grand Rapids Urology and spoke with them and advised them of my situation, and spoke with a very kind and compassionate receptionist and told her of my situation, I was never a patient here before. They got me an appointment as a new patient a week later, with a Doctor, they made the time for me. I would highly recommend Grand Rapids Urology over West Shore Urology any day, you will not be disappointed.

In my first visit to Dr.Adam Walker "Urologist" he suggested and scheduled an "ultra sound" for my prostate diagnostics. No - FDA required or suggested - "medication guide" - was mentioned or offered. It turns out he set up an MRI using radioactive gadolinium for me. Ask Chuck Norris about GBCA's. His wife is very after getting a few of them. I guess I would have waited till I was on the table for the said "ultra sound" to find out I was getting a radioactive brew to boot. This MD is a flim - flam artist for sure and may be getting kick backs from the radioactive chemical industry by his omissions to me his patient. The Oath of Hippocrates is a swear word to this said Doctor. He had no interest in the Japanese nutrients or any of the other ones I take for my improving prostate. I was just trying to give him a timeline of my history since I last saw another urologist and nutrients and green foods are a part of my life now. My primary care MD referred me to him because my PSA levels had risen marginally since the last test three years ago.

Dr Adam Walker was indifferent and was in a hurry to leave. I will not go back without an apology for his sin of omission. NOT RECOMMENDED. I filed a formal complaint with the medicare board. A MRI with radioactive tracers in much more than a "ultra sound." Jesus- Let the plants be your medicine not sorcerers.

Dr. Stork and his staff were wonderful. The doctor was thorough, compassionate and sincerely interested in my condition. The phone communications were shameful. Outrageously long hold times and with only a couple exceptions, those ultimately answering my calls were impatient, uninterested in helping and eager to get off the call.

I brought my elderly dad here for an appt. We waited at least an hour past hour scheduled time to be checked in, filled out dozens of pages of forms (he was already a patient there). We were scheduled for 1:50, at 3:30, we still hadn't seen the doctor. Try somewhere else first, if you can. Bonus bad; It's a little difficult to navigate in a wheelchair, small rooms, narrow doors, not enough room in waiting area for wheel chairs, etc. Overall, not a pleasant experience.

After being told by Dr. Phelps that a procedure was no problem and that my Medicaid insurance should cover everything. I then received a call stateing she was choosing not to do the procedure because it was elective and argued my insurance didn't cover it also admitting they never spoke with my insurance. She told me at my appointment she performed over 80 vasectomies in the last year. I find it hard to believe none of those were elective. I feel I've been lied to on multiple occasions now and would recommend no one deal with this practice unless forced.
