17 years....Only problems were the result of a fill in MD who needed to go back to Med School. A week later Primary Care MD shared my problem was NOT what was recorded, and issue proper Rx.

With above excepted I'd say my care has been equal to the private sector, and considering everything is in one place. Four stars are because administration do all they can to screw things up!

My boyfriend boyfriends been treated for years at this facility. This week we found out his medical records regarding his address and employment status are over 10 years old. Every employee we have dealt with has been either or rude and lazy.
He recently had a Prostate biopsy, though he had an appointment, was kept waiting for hours.

He just found out he has Prostate cancer. He won't be having his surgery at this facility.

At least he has options, very sad for those vets that must use the professionals at this facility.

Outpatient mental health is ok, getting appointments here aren't unheard of. 3C is just thousands of blood pressure checks and staff who just work there. Overall I'd have better luck using Wikipedia and writing my own script

For as bad as a wrap the the VA get's in the press, the staff at the WPB is great. They've always been attentive and have been great in coming up with sensible appointment times and referrals when appointments were too far out. Thanks!!!!

I have always recieved he best care here. Thanks to my wonderful Primary Care provider Dr Genel, my life has been saved more than once. When it comes to the VA I believe the majority of complaints come from the people that did not meet the qualifications to recieve care. This is a prime example of what socialized medicine would look like for everyone if the US would ever smarten up.

This is the worst VA I have ever been to. The ER will pencil whip you just to make the paper work look better. The patient advocate will not listen to you for your concerns. The ER will file prescriptions and not let you know so it looks like they did a job and you did not pick up your prescription.

I have had frequent visits to the WPB va medical center during my stay in fl, and have never been disappointed in the service I received. I admit that sometimes waiting can seem long, but I remind myself that they treat a lot of people there. All in all, I am happy with my experience at this medical center.

Can never get in for dental appointment. For about 8 months or so they have continued to cancel my appointments. I have only been seen once this year and they did not even finish the root canal that was started 4 months ago. I am in pain and was told a dental office outside va would contact me and that has not happened. While they know there was no dentist to do root canal they did not call or show concern untitled I had to call because Of pain. They said I could come in and wait for walk in although there no dentist there to do the work I had to go to urgent care to get medication.

How this place has 4 stars is beyond me. i went to the ER in Aug for a severely sprained possably fractured ankle my apt was scheduled 4 months away. I have a orthopedics apt also scheduled in July that is set for MARCH of next year. They have cancelled my
appointment and called me a no show. They only put in the consults for the choice program but never submit the rest of the documents to receive any care outside the VA. I have been in the VA for 3 years in 3 states and this place is the worst. It truly a miracle they have not had a congressional investigation.

As a Veteran this is a second home. I am grateful to have this resource available to me. Generally there is a kind spirit that permeates through the buildings. There is access to just about everything you can imagine. Medical care, prepared foods, restrooms, even a chapel staffed by a chaplain. Very clean and safe.

Baby had an outstanding record of taking care of my needs. Except for the fact that I was outsourced to another Cancer center, who botched my surgery. Plastic surgery has been done three times this year, and my is still not right. Hopefully we'll be able to make my face look right. Otherwise all my other in house procedures and check ups have been outstanding. As a veteran, I have the best regards for the staffing, emergency room doctors, and the medication arriving on time.

Typical government run around. Hurry up and wait. Person A refers you to person B person B has no clue about referral. Lots of bad drugs a few good drugs, blood pressure and cholesterol. Do your research on the prescriptions. A friend was miss-diagnosed with kidney stones but had artery problems and is now crippled, He has made progress but time will tell. Lawyers rarely accept malpractice suits against government.

Saved my life... really can't say anything negative. Sure the correct diagnosis was not immediate, but with persistent care and treatment, I was able to leave the hospital in good sound health after two weeks. The staff were competent and helpful, all but one of the many people to administer care were courteous and polite. My restricted diet was well prepared and provided great nourishment. I provided a couple photos of the surprisingly good meals. The hospital was well maintained other than a couple times a shared bathroom was not left clean(but that was really cause of a patient with issues).

I've been coming to the West Palm beach VA for years and I have always been satisfied overall with the care I have received.
My Primary care team and doctor has always made me feel important and I can't say enough good things about them.
All the specialty care departments are very efficient and the staffs have been very helpful always.

I say to all of them the same as they say to me and add one thing...
Thank You for Your Service and Care.

This was my first time for surgery at this facility. I had a hernia repaired. The experience was terrific for me and my wife who had to drive me home. The staff was very professional , caring, friendly and thorough. Dr Shwayri and his operating team did a great job and made sure I was very comfortable during the procedure. My wife and I would like to thank the VA Hospital and staff a job well done.

I have been to numerous VA facilities over the years in different states. This facility has some very good employees but unfortunately it has many useless ones like your biased, dishonest, patient advocates and a Pharmacy manager who will lie to screw patients over who embarass him because (i.e. Vincent Colucci) he does not like being told he has no medical knowledge and experience. If you can afford insurance go elsewhere! This place is totally incompetent and only has 2 doctors (i.e. Dr. Kadam and Dr. Potestades whom you may trust and provide great medical attention to you. Congressman Brian Mast is a useless GOP Butthead! 2 patient deaths have resulted here in less than a year. Check the OIG reports. Mental health s not very competent either. I won't allow my dog to come here because he deserves much better.

I have used this facility since the Ft Lauderdale location closed. i use the Clinic in Boca for all my visits (yearly physical, blood work, initial consultation) but the main stuff goes on in WPB or Miami. I have no complaints and I know there are alot out there, but my experience has always been positive and I would say I have always been treated well and although sometimes I have had a longer wait for an appt. It doesn't seem out of whack. I also have had a few operations and procedures and always felt like I was given first class service.

Security is inconsistent. One guard acts like you are a fool for stopping to show your ID at the entrance gate, 45 min later different one wants you to stop and show it. Poor supervision. All should play by the see rules.

I've been a patient for almost 18 years. I had ONE misdiagnose, and I was not impressed with service in the ER. The VA is a prime example of what socialized medicine would look like. Having said all that I put my VA care on a level which would be expected in the private sector. My problems could have happened anywhere else. I'd say 80% of the providers and other workers are professional, communicable, and sincere.

The facility is convenience as they offer almost all the services, in patient, out patient, Diagnose, CAT scan, MRI, blood and other lab work. A decent cafeteria, small retail store with food, clothing, OTC meds, and electronics. While it is a federal facility which does not FLA Sales tax, I've never seen any bargains.

Parking is a real problem, IMHO, anyway. Very little parking where you can walk into the building. Expect to have to take a van which circles around 3 or 4 times an hour. I experience a 15 to 20 minute travel time.

Husband discharged today and home now. Thank god. poor communication between clinical staff "caring" for my hospitalized husband and worried family at home. NO ONE REACHED OUT TO FAMILY ABOUT PATIENT STATUS. I finally started calling on Monday (yesterday) and was eventually connected to a very rude and unprofessional "nurse" assigned to my husband--her name is "Princess". She was unable to have an intelligent conversation with me (I'm an RN) regarding my husband's care and current status. She was unable to tell me why he was taking antibiotics? Where and what type of infection? How are the labs? So frustrating and sad for the people she is assigned to care for. There were no written discharge instructions provided so I still do not know exactly what was done during the hospital stay and where and when to follow up. I am so glad he is home.

I have had the experience of having been to a few ...

I have had the experience of having been to a few too many veterans hospitals. But with that experience I can tell you the West Palm location is very nice one.
I stopped in for what was actually the first time just a few weeks ago. I'm fairly new to Palm Beach County so I just activated my file recently.
It wasn't hard to miss as I got closer, It's huge. Parking wasn't simple, but it isn't at almost any large VA. As I walked in, I was in a bit of awe of the atrium. I t goes up for ever. It gave a regal touch to a hospital. That day I got some records done and other little things.
The other day I stopped in because I couldn't reach the eye doctors on the phone. When I got there to 8B to visit, I was expecting some edgy nurses, (I don't think of hospital employees as the best customer service in my experience), but actually there was a pleasant gal who really took care of me. She took the time to look for cancellations, and she found one!.
And just like that, I was set up. I wasn't in the hospital but maybe 12 minutes. I have other good ones as well to go to, but I'm glad the West Palm location is so hospitable.

In the words of one of the doctors "if it weren't for the veterans, we wouldn't be here ... we should all be thankful to them!" Everyone goes beyond to make sure the veteran and the family are comfortable and aware of all that's being planned.

Unlike any other medical office, of the patient isn't seen within 15 minutes of appointment, one should check at the desk and they'll get it handled!

This morning I read in the Sun Sentinel the West Palm Beach VA Medical Center was giving COVID vaccines' to all veterans who were at least 70. I had been trying to get an appointment from the Broward County Health System to no avail. However, the article was not real clear about whether veterans had to be currently registered at that location. I called and spoke to the operator who told me that I could register and receive the vaccine. After driving from Plantation an hour I was very glad to see a well organized process and very friendly professionals who made my experience completely outstanding. I arrived about 1030 and I was quickly directly to the correct parking lot where I was transported by golf cart to the registration area. Once there, I was given the registration papers and promptly processed to the next station. The nurse who gave me the vaccine was exceptional as was the remainder of the personnel in the process and was back in my car on my way by 1130. Today I was proud to be a United States Military Veteran. Thank You!

My husband has been experiencing extreme long waits for urgent care and necessary surgery in urology and nephrology. Expect 3 to 4 months for urgent surgery. Most vets without insurance cannot afford a private urologist, let alone surgeries. Shameful broken system at this facility.
The VA at WPB may be a sister cousin to the Arizona scandal.

the many complaints I hear about the VA this one is far from an example of those that have problems. Excellent service doctors are knowledgeable willing to deal with health issues on a timely manner. The general staff are very helpful willing to give information and directions so you can achieve the best care possible.

Extremely short staffed and dirty. (Patients could be heard screaming for a nurse that never shows up) they seem to congregate in a "conference room" which was clearly a breakroom. Patient with bedsore forced to lay in feces because there is no one available to change it. Is this how we treat our vets....really:(
Nice nurses and techs but very clearly
over worked. Discharged and no care what so ever taken to make sure patient made it out safely after complete bed rest for 11 days.

called to re0rder a prescription that I couldn't order through the website. pharmacy personnel are suppose to be there until 5:30. It is now 4:45pm and I have been thrown back into the que 3 times. Additionally, the disclaimers and warnings at the beginning of the call are more tedious that they were a few weeks ago.

Huge amazing hospital complex with multiple levels including an subterranean parking garage. Staff at all levels from bus driver to surgeons are super friendly and great at making patients comfortable. They have a cool area downstairs that's partly under construction but I'm confident will look even better after they finish. Hospital in general looks top notch. You wouldn't think this is a government run facility because it looks so nice and well maintained. They do a great job here!!!

I was not a human in this federal organization's eyes. I was mentally and physically harmed while on the inpatient psych ward. The staff does not address emergencies, the care is atrocious and they do not listen to complaints. I just wanted the care that I needed and left in a worse mental state than when I arrived at that kill factory. Not to mention, the staff lost my previous hospitalization paperwork. They lost my clothes too, but after 14 hours they were found. I had to lie and say I was okay in order to get discharged so I did not harm the very disrespectful and lacking basic medical knowledge staff. I was given the right medicine, wrong format, wrong dose, wrong route and the staff lied to me and said it was okay. I have since hired a lawyer that deals with VA Medical Malpractice.
