My Bichon and I have been extremely happy with the professional services provided by West Houston Veterinary. We are treated with professionalism and caring for my Bichon. They fully explain the process and expense for any service conducted on my Bichon. I would highly recommend this Veterinary office.

Our Chandler, 13 y.o. Bichon Frise/Min. Poodle Mix WHVMA as a new patient. He is blind and usually shivers the minute we enter the vet's office. But he didn't this time for very long at all. The Vet Tech all the while speaking in a very sweet, calming voice. My husband followed and I stayed in the lobby to fill out paperwork. It was toward the end of the day but no one we interacted seemed stressed or rushed.
We are so thankful that we've found an excellent veterinary clinic to care for our Senior guy.

This is the place to take your fur baby. They treat your pet as the member of the family that they are. I have used other clinics that are closer to my home over the years. I keep doing the drive to have the exceptional level of care from WHVM.

Well run clinic. No long wait in the waiting area. They had the assistant get started quickly on all the tests while we waited for the vet who came in and spent a good amount of time with the dog going over the dog talking about what the dog was doing. It's a really good and thorough place.

All four of my dogs had a good experience. The vet and staff we very friendly and caring towards my dogs. I have one that does not like going to the vet but she was fine at West Houston Veterinary . I was impressed by the quick service and ability to get me in for an appointment. The front desk picks up the phone promptly which I did not experience when calling other veterinary clinics in my area.

WHVMA was wonderful with my cat who hates the car ride, prefers to be touched on her own terms only, and in general is not a fan of vet visits. She had an easy, peaceful time, and I would give 6 stars if I could!

I have been to three vets with my dog Zoey since I moved to this side of town. For the first time, I felt the doctor wasn't guessing, he really knew what was going on and in 5 minutes he earned my confidence and trust. Service and results were excellent.

Left off the fifth star because it is a Lot more costly than inferior but significantly cheaper vets in the area. For example, their allergy pills were $72. The exact same pills, strength and quantity cost me $42 at another vet.

Being located where they are - just behind the large Kroger, having what appears to be a large staff and nice facilities are great, but they almost have to be creating significant overhead which is likely a driver of the high cost for patients.

My recommendation is if you have plenty of money to spend, this place is great. The value proposition is simple - "Pay the most here, but comfort and quality of care are outstanding."

If you are a on budget, I would ask friends and coworkers for other recommendations.

Final thought - They push sales of ultra high quality pet food hard. Petsmart has exact same food for less money. It is in the back right corner of the store, in the veterinarian food section not in the regular pet food sections.

My Pomeranian is almost 6 years old and I have taken her to West Houston Veterinary since I got her at 4 months old. The veterinarians and assistants are very knowledgeable and caring and the staff is very friendly. They also have a groomer who is excellent. I would recommend this clinic to anyone who wants their animal well taken care of.

We initially had a good experience bringing our newly adopted cat in for a check up, and she received a clean bill of health. However, as soon as we got back home, she began to sneeze. When she began showing other signs of illness, I called WHVMA to see what could be done. They refused to even see her without an $86 office fee, even though she got sick at their facility. We will not be returning to this vet.

I originally came in to get a prescription for my dogs heart worm medication, but was so impressed at how welcoming and dedicated the team was to helping me get the right kind for my fur babies. Annette, explained in great detail what services the office offers, and even helped me to a room with ease (because one of my dogs was not on a leash). Paulette helped break down the cost, and was very helpful when I was not able to pay for the visit. Cindy worked with my pups, and was very kind and gentle to my dogs. Dr. Mark had a meet and greet with my pups, and gave his honest recommendations for both dogs, he also gave me free samples of the medication they needed for fleas and ticks, as well as a yeast infection in the ear. Over all great visit, I plan on returning to follow up on their care, and will definitely recommend this clinic. if I could give 10 stars, I would.

I love going here. The ladies are so amazing by being so accommodating. They don't charge you for stuff with out telling you, which I love. They do walk ins, you can call and schedule but if you end up needing to go earlier or later, they help you out by accommodating your time frame and letting you come in when you can. They are working on doing a program where your dogs gets free shots for life the only catch is that you have to pay for one full check up once a year, which isn't bad. Not only do you get all the shots periodically when they need to be given, you also ensure your dogs/cats health is doing good each year, which from my experience is the best bc it's better to find a problem sooner than later and ppl tend to only bring their pets when they get really sick, which isn't ideal or healthy for the dogs because it brings a lot of risk factors. They are still in the works for the program. They worked with me on billing, and they offer 10% off for military discounts with valid government issues military card. One thing I really love about them is that they let me know what's issues need to be resolved, how much it will be, and if I can do a simple home remedy to fix it. They do not make decisions for you, and they inform you on the issue rather than diagnosing with one word and then immediately treating, which many Veterinary clinics do. That's why I like this place, no pressure, relaxed and lets you remain in power when it comes to the health of your dog and what you can afford. I highly recommend this place. No matter where you live, this Veterinary clinic is worth driving x amount of minutes to.

they are very over priced and are not flexible or competitive. Been fighting ear infections for 2 years with them and it's always a different reason...
They charge 32 dollars to grind nails when the place by my home charges 10. They have strange rules for getting a groom.
Shots are more than double anyone around town.
Nobody has ever actually cared about my dog even if they say they do. They are only concerned with turning a profit. Every time I come in its always a new shot or medication he is not on that they neglect to tell me about in advance. Best example is trying to sell me 6 months of trifexis 1 month and the next month I come in to buy the second pill and can't because he doesn't have another shot! Get real, I don't know how this place stays in business unless they have a ton of rich people that don't care about cost.

All in all they are in it for the money not to help animals
Called today to give them another chance because my dog is having a yeast infection. Was open to talking to me about his diet until i said i already scheduled an appointment with another vet office. Then all of a sudden she could care less and didnt know how to help me. Disgraceful, i will make sure tonhave my mom go to a different vet yall are garbage human beings with no soul. 86 dollars for a visit is 3 times the price of the vet i scheduled with down the road.

WHVMA , Dr. Randy Tonking and ALL of the staff are like family to John and me. Our last Golden, Jefferson, and our precious Golden, Benjamin, have been loved and cared for by WHVMA for over 13 years. We would not trust our children to anyone else. Dr. Tonking and the rest of the staff take the time to answer questions, explain details and never hurry when we have an office visit. They care about the health and well being of our pets just like we do...Again, we feel they are family!

I was very impressed with Dr. Randy and his assistant Cindy. My Chihuahua is very scared of strangers and we always have to put on a muscle. He got a shot and his nails clipped, and to my surprise Cindy came back with the muscle off. Chico seemed very relaxed and did not try to bite her. Our old Vet moved away, we will make this our new place to go for both of our dogs.

Dr. Tonking's office is top notch! We called due to our dog having an injured foot and they not only accommodated our schedule, but made every effort to see our dog as quickly as possible. Dr. Sheldon was very caring, knowledgable and quickly put our dog at ease. We were so impressed!! If you want the best for your fur babies, this is the place to go!

There are not enough good things I can say about this place and the wonderful people who work there. They are truly amazing and wonderful. They all take such good care of my animals and even go out of their way to comfort and reassure me. They have become an extension of my family and I am so glad that they are a part of my life. Any animal needing help would be in the best hands here. Dr. Taylor and all of her staff are very knowledgeable, patient and compassionate.

Not happy with my encounters here. Overall, I feel like they are never transparent with pricing and they don t care about that. I have been in there 3 times, and although Im ok with the docs and most nurses in there, I m not a fan of a few different things there. To say the least, I was quoted $820 on the phone for declawing my cat, when I went to pick her up I had to pay $1012. That s a huge difference, especially when I have spent over $1600 at this clinic in the past 6 months. Will not be returning because I have high expectations when it comes to transparency. I found a different clinic that has been transparent with me from the start in regards to pricing, what they are doing with my cat, etc.

First time customer and will never return. I was greeted with a be with you in a minute and then sat for 20 minutes as I watched others, lighter complexion than I, come in and were greeted with how can I help you? . I had a scheduled appointment and was 5 minutes early. No paperwork given nor even asked what I was there for. Very poor customer service with multiple employees no excuse about being short handed. Anyone could of handed me a clipboard. First impression was that I was not the right skin color for this clinic.

WHVMA not only is my preferred vet for my own fur baby, they recently helped me and my friend with two adorable strays we found. The checked to see if the pups had microchips, arranged for them to stay at the clinic while we tried to find the owner. They continued to help as these sweet dogs awaited transport to a rescue in Massachusetts. Annette went out of her way to make sure all their medical records and rabies tags were delivered to the rescue. We could not have saved these lives without Annette and the entire staff of WHVMA. Thank you for all you do!!!!

The entire WHVMA staff is wonderful! From the front office, vet techs to the Drs- everyone is great and attentive. My little "super chi-weenie", Nugget, actually loves being there and wants to play with everyone. Appreciate how the techs and Dr's take the time to thoroughly explain procedures and tests during my pup's examination.

As always, the professionalism, knowledge, customer service and empathy exceeded all of my expectations! And best of all, my aging dog is being kept healthy and doesn't "dread" his appointments!
I can't thank West Houston Veterinary Medical Associates enough! God bless each of you!

This is the ONLY place I will take my fur babies. Dr Randy is the absolute best!! The entire staff are pet lovers and it shows in how they treat their patients. They will give you the information you need to make decisions and offer many options. They do NOT push unnecessary tests or products on you and they have great prices on the GOOD food your baby needs. They have free for life vaccinations, as well.

I left my dog for a 6-night boarding and this morning, at the end of the boarding time I received a call at 11 AM informing the dog has vomit and diarrhea since last night. I pick it up and authorize treatment that cost me over $150. The dog arrived home excessively thirsty.
You make your own inferences about the quality of care your animal may get there. I'm sure my dog is not going back there anymore.

If all the people that worked there were as kind and understanding as the elder lady who has attended me on two occasions, I would be a returning customer. However, seeing as they turned away my Chihuahua and myself when my Chihuahua was mauled by a chow, I would never go back. We arrived 5 minutes before closing and my Chihuahua was in MAJOR distress and it was clear that he needed medical attention as evident by his agonized yelps and the blood all over my shirt. They simply said that they were closing and that there was nothing they could do. I pleaded that he please be seen by a vet, whereupon the vet tech took my dog and came back 1 minute later saying the Veterinarian on staff had gone for the day.

My family has spent at least $10,000 with them....three dogs, five cats, numerous surgeries and several strays. If they did indeed care about animals, they would go out of their way to help an animal in distress and their concerned patrons. They are simply in the business of making money.....nothing else. A busine$$ without a heart. Do not take your beloved pets there.....

I was worried my dog may have bloat, and was distraught as we could not pay above a certain amount. They promised to call me if they needed to charge me more than that amount, and I dropped her off before a work meeting that morning. One thing I noticed was that my dog- who is usually terrified of new people- went back with the technicians with very little trouble and even sniffed and wagged at them!

The technicians monitored her all day and the veterinarian stayed well within my budget! They even discounted some things for me. Luckily my girl was just fine, and I was so relieved to pick her up when she was ready. We love this place!

Last night I took my Boxer into the West Houston Vets. The dog was having a terrible time breathing and I thought we were going to loose him. It turns out that he had a form of heat stroke and the the staff took immediate action the help our dog. The staff truly cared and did everything in a professional manner. Pretty soon the dog was improving and gave us hope.

The doctor told me that she recommended that I transfer the dog to an emergency care facility for over-night observation. It would also cost us over $1000 to do so. Needless to say, I love my dog but believe it's rediculous to pay escalated prices for the care. I refused and took the dog home, we watched him ourselves throughout the night, and he woke me up this morning to go outside (doing fine).
