Completed a welding course aimed at hobbyists at Weltec - super awesome. They do a great job with the funding they have. More people making things in New Zealand needs encouragement and support...

Polytechnic training facility in Petone, great staff, relaxed atmosphere, not a huge place and smaller class sizes than at Universities. Sister Polytechnic is Whitereia in Porirua. If you're looking for a quality education in NZ, I'd recommend them.

These guys lost my application forms, placed me in all the wrong classes, and left me with a 12K student loan. I am now underqualified for the work I'm passionate about, and probably will be for the rest of my life.

While I am currently studying there, I have decided to pull out for a few main reasons.
Lack of support in the classroom
Bullying via email
Discrimination of learning paces
And impatientness
There is a huge lack of support in the classroom particularly in the maths department. My tutor didnt understand that I was a week late and decided to fail me on the spot despite me saying "I'm a week late" to him over 40 times before lockdown. Furthermore, he did outright fabricate the truth by saying I put a 0 on my sheet for no reason when in fact; he told me to put a 0 on his sheet, even though I had completed just as much work as the other students did. Often, he would walk right past me in the classroom when I had my hand raised. So I had no choice but to ignore him then he goes "why didnt you ask for help" even though I had my hand raised in the classroom for an hour at a time in between each tutorial. When he did come along and help me, his help was very vague and I remained confused by his reasoning.
Second of all is bullying.
On the subject of lack of support, a few of my teachers have bullied me and other students. My one was unfortunately by email where my tutor decided to use caps lock, underlining the word YOU and making me feel guilty for asking for help, even though I had asked him for help so many times. Having done all this he had failed me on the spot as soon as the due date was over upon my first day there. Warm welcome WelTec. But throughout the course of the lockdown tutors have bullied and laughed at me over zoom meetings and have not provided me with accurate information about when assessments are due and did not give me any support to engage with the course I chose. While I understand online learning can be difficult for students there has been no attempt from them to contact me via phone or personal email to further discuss my plan going forward.
Impatience is one major trait of these people here. When there is an assessment on, you are expected to learn at the same pace as the tutor. Which is everything at once with limited questions which ties into discrimination of learning paces. Unlike Victoria University which had more time to ask questions and more support systems this institute has shown none of that and forced me to shut out of talking to them due to how toxic and intimidating they are. If you take a course you are expected to learn at the pace the tutor sets. No exceptions.
I honestly regret enrolling in weltec with a huge hatred to the staff and the teachers there who have not sent me ANYTHING over the lockdown period via my main school email or personal email. They didnt set me up with a login code upon my first day of entering the establishment despite everyone else having one. I understand me being a week late is difficult but you were quick to process my application but not quick to get me up to speed and let me slack behind.
Poor service weltec. Very very poor and unprofessional.
The fact that; not to be racist; that I have seen Indians review this as 5 stars is incredibly biased and incredibly misleading as well, as you have no signs of any other European students who produce similar reviews to the Indians who praise your "system". Its incredibly misleading and I would rather attend a university and know I feel welcome and loved there.
I'm giving you 2 stars because I believe you can learn from this and not double down on your standards that you set. You try and engage students to get job ready then understand that:
Everyone has different learning abilities
Everyone has the right to question
It's not all about the tutors.
Be. Patient and let the students learn with you
And dont bully people via email.
I think 2 stars is generous but it really should be one. Even though I am giving you the benefit of the doubt I am still withdrawing from my course.

Tutors personal issues put ahead of work, no organisation amongst management, poorly run institute. I was forced to attend for the year and then never given my certificate. Would recommend Whitireia or anywhere else!!

Very good polytechnic with practical training, professional tutors, supportive staff and international environment. I enjoyed my learning a lot when I was studying there.

I graduated from this faculty a few years ago. The premises are good and some of the tutors are at the top of their field. However, some courses are not up to scratch with the real world and you might struggle when entering the workforce.
