The best pub in Hampstead, and nicely tucked away so that it's not too busy.

An oasis after a morning of walking on the heath, as well as being a fantastic destination for dinner. The Wells really has limited competition for food in Hampstead, but it is certainly the best place for it.

Surprisingly reasonable drinks prices, too

Looks like a lovely pub with excellent food on the edge of the heath and doggy friendly. Service on the other hand is terrible. We put ourselves on the waiting list for a table, waited the agreed 40 minutes, came back after half an hour and were told we no longer had our space and we were at the back of the queue again. Dishonest, unfair, rude, avoid.

Perfect place for a well-deserved coffee, drink and/or meal after a walk on the Heath! Friendly staff, yummie food. Grab a table outside when the sun's out and watch the world go by. You might even spot a celeb in the wild!

I ve been going here for over 10 years, in my opinion one of the best places to eat in Hampstead (very little competition however). Seasonal British food well executed. Feels more like a restaurant that a traditional pub, if it s a pub to brink you re looking for probably better to try somewhere else (although on a hot day the few benches outside are very nice). Request the dining room upstairs to eat, downstairs can get fairly loud.

Visited here with friends for a group lunch. The place gets busy so book ahead to guarantee a table. The food was lovely, drinks list extensive and dessert was spot on. Highly recommended, though a little on the more expensive side.

This place is really a restaurant - don't think there is sufficient non-dining seating for it to even be called a gastropub. The inside is not sympathetic to the wonderful Georgian exterior. Feels a little tired. It was heavily staffed but none of them seemed a particularly happy and welcoming bunch of campers - gut instinct it could be down to bad management. Service was not particularly efficient - had to repeat our order several times. We had a Bloody Mary which was excellent and a great pint of Crate pale ale. We ordered a side of chips and some olives which were excellent - best portion of chips I've had for a long time! I understand the food is good and, the slightly iffy/frosty service aside, I would return.

Jan 2020 - to update my slightly snippy review from 2 year ago! and to add a star. Popped in today and again was served with 2 good bloody Mary's. The bar staff seemed a far more cheery bunch and service was efficient. The place was bustling. Couldn't get a portion of chips as the kitchen was closed but do think I need to return to dine here sometime soon.
