Lovely location which unfortunately means parking can be very difficult. We risked a parking ticket and got away with it.

Inside was cramped and very noisy. Difficult to walk through and the staff were not accomodating so we moved outside.

The vegetarian options were limited to stuffed peppers or a mushroom burger which is nothing to get excited. The food itself wasn't bad but it didn't feel like anything special.

Some of the staff were unqualified to take drink requests or even to fetch someone who was qualified.

Dessert was pretty good however so if you want to skip the main There's an option there.

After a long walk on the Heath on a sunnier than usual afternoon we fancied a Beavertown Neckoil to slake the thirst while we studied the menu. This was our first meal out and visit to the Wells since lockdown and we were not disappointed. To start we had a salad of Granny Smith with blue cheese, rocket, endive and walnuts; and smoked salmon with rosti and spinach topped with a poached egg. For mains we had the duck confit with pureed swede, spinach and dauphinoise potatoes. To accompany our meal we drank a bottle of French merlot. We enjoyed the food and the atmosphere. The staff were attentive and friendly. In terms of safety it is reassuring that there is a one way system, hand sanitiser, tables are well spaced and contact details are taken in case someone is diagnosed with covid-19

Such a shame about the poor service at my friend s lunch at this venue. Staff were really pushy and not understanding about late arrivals, which put a lot of unnecessary stress on friend trying to enjoy her Birthday. Also not impressed by the only vegan options given to me.

I must say, The Wells is a special place. If you are staying in central London it's nestled about 4 miles up the northbound line. I highly recommend you load up your oyster card and jump on the tube to eat and drink here. You can take a stroll in the park, look at the skyline of London, and stop here for a bite to eat and a few drinks. Food was rich with flavor and delicious. Drink were perfect for a summer day. Some of the best food I've had here yet. I'm very happy we stopped here, sat outside, and enjoyed this part of the city. The Wells will be on my go stop at list when I return.

Nice setting and friendly. Great starters but the roast dinner was a little average. Roast potatoes not that crispy, vegetables sparse and a couple of Yorkshire's and maybe some stuffing would have boosted it a bit.

Lovely setting away from the high street - worth the walk up to see the local streets and houses alone. The servings were generous - we tried the burgers, sea bass and apple and rhubarb crumble with vanilla ice cream. The crumble was large enough to share between four!

Absolutely loved it! Definitely will be back. The okonomiyaki sauce barbecue short rib was my favourite.. such an ingenious dish! Sticky toffee pudding dessert was probably the best I ve had to date.

Food consistently good. Can reserve upstairs not downstairs but - Doggy food and water also available and same human ('modern British') food as at reservable tables. Occasional interesting local artistic/musical celebrities.

Went to The Wells for dinner, but thought I'd get a drink at the bar first. It was a Friday evening the bar was small and very busy. The bar staff were preparing drinks for the restaurant and dinner tables downstairs, this seemed to take priority over those wanting a drink at the bar. So don't try for a quick drink at the bar on a Friday evening! When our friends arrived I gave up on waiting at the bar and went to our table in the upstairs restaurant, this was very pleasent and did not feel cramped.
Should have done this on arrival! The staff were immediately attentive and took drinks orders.
Menu is very sensible with some interesting elements. I went for the Chateau Briand (for two) it was truly excellent cooked to perfection. Side dishes were also very tasty. Each portion was just enough.
The staff were not pushy and at no time did we feel rushed. We will be going back. It is important to book.

Pretty insane and lightly unsatisfactory yet irresistible, a beautiful mix of absolute vile tastings and absolutely unbelievable food. The taste of the crushed bugs were in my mouth all week. Would recommend, yet if you were thinking of going I would advise against it.

Myself and a few friends were looking for Sunday roast options in Hampstead on a sunny day, with Google suggesting the Wells which had glowing reviews. We waited outside for 20 minutes or so until the doors opened at midday, which was More

It is undoubtedly one of the most pleasant places to eat or drink in Hampsted. The atmosphere is elegant and cozy, very clean, well decorated, the music is very good and the attention is also great. Worth a visit!

Delightful gastro pub slightly uphill and off the main roads with lovely views and vibes. The pub staff is very welcoming, to the point and friendly. The food and service was good especially after a long walk on the heath. I would definitely recommend this pub for after walks drinks and or food!

Amazing. Unexpectedly good. Great service. Priced reasonably. Sat in the restaurant. Ordered the duck and it was brilliantly cooked, not a hint of dryness and perfect texture. Deserts were all excellent and the Rhone wine was top drawer for the second cheapest on the menu. Negatives? Service wasn't especially fast but it just meant we had more time to enjoy the restaurant and its a moot point considering how friendly and accommodating our waitress was.

Very nice, after a walk in Hampstead heath is the perfect stop for a pint. Unfortunately is super busy so if you want to eat better book in advance, for Sundays probably you need to book on Thursday or earlier. Personnel are quite friendly and helpful. Beer selection is actually good too.

Went here for a meal after a leisurely walk on the Heath with our friends. We were made to feel quite unwelcome and then enjoyed very rude service during our 3 course meal. They didn't even say thank you when we paid our bill or left, which I find astounding and incredibly rude. It's the first time I have ever felt like I wasn't good enough to eat anywhere. Will avoid this place in future unless I want a side order of snobbery with my dinner.

Great if you like dry Sunday roast, also had to ask for a Yorkshire pudding to have with the roast. When it came it was like stale bread. Then when the bill came was offered 10% off. Waitresses seemed to take the feedback personally. Not like it was back on 2008.

The best pub in Hampstead, and nicely tucked away so that it's not too busy.

An oasis after a morning of walking on the heath, as well as being a fantastic destination for dinner. The Wells really has limited competition for food in Hampstead, but it is certainly the best place for it.

Surprisingly reasonable drinks prices, too

Really excellent pan-fried seabass with fennel, chorizo, greens, red pepper and sauce vierge - and that from a dedicated carnivore! Nicely full and satisfied. Best to get a seated table rather than couch&table though. Will definitely be back.

Great Sunday lunch. This is Fay Maschler (Evening Standard food critic of many years standing) sisters place. Get a seat upstairs, and get comfy, prepare for a good couple of hours of pure culinary pleasure.
