Charged me for the room $450 for a room that should have only cost me $168 phone and TV didn t work (could be do to construction) and we ordered room service and the burger was like rubber and fries were cold, Cole slaw was frozen. Worse experience I ve ever had with a hotel.

I enjoyed our stay here but there was a few little things I missed. For example only one side of our bad had badside table, the window had a bed draft, and the heater element /radiator wasn't easy to use. These things didn't stop us from enjoying our stay. I liked the old 90's new york style of the hotel. Thank you for this experience and I will recommend thus hotel to anyone anyway.

Its location is excellent, close to all the NYC attractions. Only that it is a bit "old" and the heating is not good in the thermostat interval: 40 minutes !!! Its alot. Rest ok ok. Your employees ok. Friendly and many speak Spanish

My son and I traveled to NYC for a concert being held at Carnegie Hall. Not being overly familiar with the city, I looked for a hotel in close proximity. The Wellington is literally 3/4 of a block down the street! The location to the hall, restaurants, pharmacy/convenience store and shopping was excellent. Everything we needed was in a several block radius. We were likely in one of the rooms not yet refurbished, but it had comfortable beds, a fine bathroom w/ amenities and suited our needs. If you book through the hotel you are offered free wifi-we did not, so had to pay (we did get additional devices beyond the two I paid for for free, so that was a bonus). There is a diner off of the lobby and a (pricey) little gift shop, as well. The staff was very nice -hailing a taxi and making recommendations. The Tokyo Orchestra (our reason for going) members were guests, as well, so we enjoyed meeting several of the musicians. There is no question that we will be staying at the Wellington again in the future.

Great service, was not happy with the first room we got, but got changed after one night, so there they were very helpful. Location is perfect, short distance to Central park and Times Square.

Older hotel but not bad. I had to ask for a different room because the shower water wasn't draining (had to shower in ankle high water... yuck). Even though it's winter, it was unreasonably warm outside and in the room and they turn off the AC. I had someone come check the room and they advised me the AC gets turned off during the winter. It was ugly warm.

One of my favorite New York hotels, conveniently located at affordable prices and friendly staff. Breakfast, offered, in connection with the coffee below is plentiful and already allows a dip in the New York coffee atmosphere.
The rooms are adequate.

Nice hotel. Stayed here Nov 2015. Great location to Carnegie Hall, museums, Central Park and Columbus Circle, and tons of restaurants. Kinda old looking, but very clean and simple inside.

Great place to stay while in NY. The room we stayed at had enough space for two people along with luggage for a week. The room even had a small bathtub, however we only took showers in it.
The hotel staff were friendly and helpful.
The hotel was walking distance from Times Square and a couple of streets from Central Park.
There were 3-4 vegan restaurants in the vicinity, which made eating breakfast easy.
You will definitely get the city feel if you stay here.

Reasonably priced hotel ideally located between Central Park and Times Square. Choose a one bedroom suite with, by NYC standards, plenty of space and absolutely no view. However, lack of view also meant lots of peace and quiet, which was great at the end of a fun day in Manhattan. Would definitely stay again!

I recieved a great price through Southwest and could not be happier. Everything was sold out and I needed a place to stay on a last minute project. The building has charm and the beds are extremely comfortable.

The bad:

The bad:
Falling apart. Dirty. Outdated everything. Not in a "preserved" sort of way. The heat/ac has controls on it that don't do anything. It let's you change the settings, but the heat blasts 24/7 in the winter well above 70. No coffee maker or amenities of any sort. The shower temperature consistently bounced from freezing to scalding over the course of 20 minutes, so instead of waiting for it normalize, I found a bath is the only safe way to get clean, which is far from convenient for the average user in daily life.

The good:
Nice location and comfortable beds/pillows.

Great hotel for the price! The rooms are small, but I was able to get 2 rooms for the price of 1 anywhere else in Manhattan. The place is in need of renovation, but it's an excellent value, especially for NYC!

The location is absolutely unbeatable. . . midway between the Park and Times Square. There are tons of restaurants, bars and shops within a few blocks, including all-night dining options. The cafe attached to the hotel, however, is not recommended and the opposite of good value. But, there are plenty of better nearby options.

They are in the process of renovating, so I hope this doesn't increase the price. We will be back if it doesn't!

- it took the hotel 2 days to accept the corporate credit card, we had to pay cash
- you can't control the temperature in the rooms, if it's too hot or too cold you need to call the reception to send you an engineer
- no refrigerator

Outdated and dirty. I even got some mite bites. The bed was awfully uncomfortable. Only good point is the location, if you like to be near Broadway and Times Square. Their breakfast is expensive and bad.

Extremely unprofessional staff. Expedia nor the hotel website said anything about construction going on in the hotel. Didn t get any sleep because of construction noise, plumbing shakes and rattles, hotel is extremely out dated.asked front desk to fix problems, waited all Thursday afternoon, Friday at 9 after being at the desk at 8am they finally sent someone. At this point we had already wasted too much time and left. Was told they would compensate us after providing photos of said problems to the hotel and Expedia. It s been seven days since then still nothing. The manager there is extremely rude. We also could never use the WiFi they advertise. Was finally contacted by the hotel Saturday and was told they would contact me Tuesday, never heard from them. When I called in Wednesday to the contact Henry who I was speaking with, the receptionist asked if he even worked there!? He told me he had been there for 20+ years? Communication and professionalism were not satisfactory at all. I would highly recommend spending your trip some where else. Not to mention the whole lobby and parking area out front are under construction. Unfortunately I can t upload photos to this review or I would. Do not give them your time or money place is a dump_

Affordable. Stayed for a week. The rooms were worn, and it didn't feel to clean, but I think that was mostly because many surfaces were worn through the veneer. Tiles have been replaced in different colors in the bathroom, and so on.

The restaurant was loud and the one breakfast we had some of the worst food we had on the trip, and expensive at that.

Got charged 31 USD hidden facility fee, which was not mentioned at all when we book it (unless it is buried in the tiny prints) at the end of the stay of one night... Also very unhappy about its cleanliness... Got two "curly" hairs on unused towels, blood on the bed sheet, and some unknown tiny thorn on the carpet... Will not come again.

If you are among the tourists who consider the hotel only a place to rest in the evening, then the Wellington is a super hotel. A few steps away, but actually two, between Times Square and Central Park and the metro station (57 St - 7 Av N, Q, R) is less than ideal for getting around the city.
The style is a bit vintage and the rooms are not bad, comfortable and clean even if not so large. The staff is extremely kind even when you choose to change room as it happened to us. As in almost all American hotels, breakfast is not included, but you can do it in the lounge downstairs ... not so much economic ... Recommended rather the many rooms on the side of the road.

I will not be coming back here. I paid $250 for 1 night. The room was so small and cramped. The room smelled like cigarettes. Heater had a mind of its own and wouldn t turn off. I was told there was free breakfast and after I paid, I was told by someone else that it wasn t included in my stay. No mini fridge, no microwave. Small and old tv. The shower would switch to hot and cold whenever it wanted too. Walls were thin, I literally can hear everything outside and inside. Elevators took forever to get to your room and lobby. Everything was old but I guess I can say the room was clean. I regret coming here, wasn t worth it.

Yes as everyone else has already said this hotel is perfectly located, you step out the front door and two blocks to your right is Central Park and down the street to your left you can see Time Square!

I wouldn't really be raving about the room, it was very clean mind, but as a typical New York hotel the room was pretty much, the bed and a bathroom .... but really that's all you need!

I would say this hotel was over priced considering how dated it is internally, but again I think they can get away with charging what they do because of the location, so I would recommend it for anyone staying for the first time in the city.

Nearly scalded myself this morning in the shower that could not maintain temperature. Apparently since I booked a discount room through a travel site and not the hotel directly, staff could care less about helping. A call to the NYC Dept of Health for a safety violation is next up.
I usually book a first time stay through a discount site as an expensive "trial run" - needless to say, the Wellington failed and I will not return.
Clearly I was placed in a different type of room based on revenue - it was dark, dingy, a/c didn't work well and overall, lackluster preventative maintenance shows in this dated and unsafe room.

It was very good, we stayed for one night; the building is a little old, the service was good although you do not have "free" access to your wifi network unless you have booked from your website, otherwise there is a price to pay for the use of the internet and also only give you a definite number of devices that can be connected to the internet depending on how much is paid for this service which I think being a client that stays at the hotel should be included. Room and bathroom were clean.

Although the hotel is of the time the rooms are comfortable and spacious and the location is excellent. Comfortable mattresses. Bathroom with good shower. I went 2 times and would go back again. Ideal the kitchen area of the room. Patience waiting for the elevators!

The location is the selling point!
Three blocks from Central Park/Fifth Avenue/Times Square. Next door to Carnegie Hall.

Terrible service. I think they don't know how importance of service in hotel. When I am doing check-in service, receptionist are working like dumb people and later they are gasipping infront of us. Also when I booked this hotel they didn't tell anything about luggage fee for group but they told me when I just came here. Be careful about those dumb receptionist.

Decent. Pictures they've put lie, I'm afraid. As reception desk is nasty(stuff all over, not in place) and place itself not so clean.

Service ok. Issues with their communication. As evening shift fixed our breakfast order and in the morning we had to do it all over again, with different person behind the desk.

Rooms are fairly good, best part of the hotel.

The front desk staff was very hospitable in allowing me to check-in early, and the rest of the staff was friendly during the duration of my. My room was on the top top floor had amazing views of Central Park. The hotel itself is located next to a lot of great restaurants and Times Square.

We had a room on the 16 floor it was street facing. It was a two full beds and it was super small. Barely enough to walk next to the beds and the room was very dry! I had to open the window. All night got to enjoy the sweet sounds of NYC at new years.

This hotel is ok, the location is excellent. All the sights are accessible by subway, and there are many that are not far from the past and have a strong sense of security. The downstairs is very prosperous and what is there. But the rooms are old and the bathroom is very narrow. The room is not soundproof, and the plug in the room is really too little! ! ! ! !

Great value and location. Clean rooms and helpful staff. We checked in on Friday night and requested rooms on the same floor. Wasn't a problem. The elevators were slow and one got shut down during our stay. Overall great experience.

It was horrible experience, I ordered the room with 2 doubles, but they said there is no room available right now, and they gave as a king room instead. The the room was extremely small and we argued with, finally they admitted there was some double room left and gave as room
You need to pay for wifi, toothbrush tools and there is no place to get drinking water in room
