The WEHI (affectionately called the "wee high") is an important part of the cluster of biomedical facilities in Parkville. It is closely linked to the University of Melbourne . For over 100 years it has been researching disease prevention and cure and now has over 1000 staff working in areas such as cancer, immunology and infectious diseases.
Quite a nice looking research insitute across the road fro mthe Univeristy of Melbourne. There are a few scultures just outside the main entrance.

WEHI is part of the hospital/ Unimelb precinct. A centre full of research facilities, it is tucked behind the hospitals, Bio21 and the University high school. Access is restricted to visitors by security at the front door. Research seminars are held frequently here and there are a number of meeting spaces and a lecture theatre for larger meetings. A new child research centre has just been opened.
