Place seems to have gone downhill the last few years. Food way overpriced and quality is subpar.
Great food just across the street from Kittery Trading Post
If you are going to Maine or where ever there is a Weathervane. Please do yourself a favor and stop in and get something to eat. Prices are reasonable , service is prompt and courteous and food is delicious.
Every time we come to kittery we have to come here for lunch or dinner! Love the home town feel and the food never disappoints!!
Haven't been for a long time and still as good as I remembered
I and the wife are by no means restaurant snobs. We wanted seafood before heading to Trading Post. I ordered Lazy man's lobster and wife had Cajon salmon. $35 for the lobster and it was late in arriving and mostly chewy and bland. Sooo disappointed at how little the portion was (2 lobsters?) and not at all the succulent Maine lobster you lust for. Salmon was a bit better but not by much. Maybe an off day but not good.
Had the fish and chips. It was very good as were the onion rings. Waitress was friendly and attentive.
Great deal of haddock fish and chips. Two meal sizes on some meals.
Quick service, good food , moderately on price , plenty of parking ,nice bar, good selection of beers .
We visited from RI found it to be pricey with mediocre food. Definitely like our RI seafood and prices better! Our waiter couldn t answer any of our questions we had about the menu.
Was verryy good
From Ct.
Our waitress didn't come out to take our drink order for 35 minutes and that was after a 30 minute wait to be seated
I havent been to a weather vane in a couple years n blah not so hot the batter tasted funky n I didnt like it at all
If a no star was an option, this experience would've earned it...
5pm arrived
5:10(10 mins)after being seated in the absolutely last room before we were acknowledged by one of the servers, I think it was only because another family had indicated that we'd been waiting for a while without service(we should've left at this point, but wanting to give the benefit of the doubt we stayed)
5:15 (5 mins) our drink order was taken by a server who was also responsible for a party of about 14 on his own (operational adjustment likely needed there)
5:22(7 mins) for our drinks to arrive after that point
5:32 (10 Mins) before the apps arrived
5:45 (25 Mins) for our entrees to arrive, missing lemons for fish meals (lemons--which would've been minor had we not already been annoyed by the already unacceptable wait time and the few minor mistakes in our order)
The food- tasteless, which was sooo disappointing since I was craving a great fish and chips meal but didn't get it. I didn't check even want to order additional water worried that we'd leave before it arrived. The environment was nicely decorated but there was no music or anything to create some type of ambiance which made it really awkward with all the other patrons around.
Utterly disappointed.
My go-to place for properly cooked, fresh, great tasting sea-food, my wife loves their hamburgers, go figure !
Delicious fish and chip dinner. Reasonably priced with a charming nautical decor. Friendly efficient waitstaff.
I'd like to say it was the worst service ever but I can not.
After being seated we waited more than 15 minutes before walking out. No waitress ever came over to our table, no drinks, rolls nor an order taken. A waiter came to apologize for a lack of service however.
We would have understood had it been busy but it was very slow.
Unfortunately this is the 2nd time this has occurred.
We won't be back. We will gladly visit the one in Dover or enjoy Newicks just over the boarder.
Best place in the area to get seafood. If you are shopping the outlets don't miss this gem. The seafood is fresh, delicious and priced reasonably. Wonderful time . Highly recommend it.
Food was ok. Wasn't worth the price though. Watiress was awesome.
Sadly it seems this restaurant has succumbed to the third generational malady of making money at the customer's expense, small portions and "shorting" their mixed drinks. Never again will I darken their door.
Disappointed the broiled
seafood dinner small portions and the scollop's tasted like rubbing alcohol
First beer was awful, took forever to place an order for my dinner and food was just average.Waiter was only average. Not impressed and definitely won't be back.
I see reviews are varied but I can say I've been here a bunch of times all the way back to when I was a kid. Always liked the food. Never any complaints.
I really really like the fact that someone from the restaurant replies to people when that have any issues.
Quite disappointed I couldn't get half rings and half fries. Haddock tasted grocery store bought.
Great seafood at affordable prices...sad they are no longer in Salem NH
Was asked if I'd like a small side salad or large dinner salad. If this is their version of large, I can't imagine the side salad... must be served in a ramekin. Also, to go orders for Cesar salad usually have dressing on side to prevent wilting. The need to specify dressing on side, with any salad order to go...? Maybe I'm overestimating what I thought to be common sense
The haddock was overcooked and very dry, the lobster roll was small and barely had any lobster on it. Not to mention over priced. Plenty of better seafood elsewhere.
The best seafood I've ever eaten and enjoyed it. The drinks were good not watered down and most of the waiters and waitress were very friendly.
The food was not great in general but the onion rings were very good! The rolls were cold and definitely not made in-house. We had to beg for them as they only gave one per guest. I used to love this place years ago. Now, I wouldn't go back unless it was the only place available.
I come by every year and always make sure to visit the Weathervane. There's something for everyone. Make sure to try the steamers! You're welcome
Food was good. Service was a little slow but expected because we were outside and one of the last guests of the night. Prices were what you'd expect from a seafood place.
We stopped in near the end of the day of shopping and were quickly seated, a table of 4. Waitress was gracious and helpful with menus and drinks. But that's where the positives end. Though it was slightly busy, the food took over half an hour ..for reference - we ordered broiled salmon, a hamburger, kid's mac & cheese and fried shrimps. Infact, a table of 6 next to us left without getting their food. I know what you're thinking, the food was worth the wait. Not! Uninspiring is the word. Mac & cheese was good. "Cheesy" from my son. The fried shrimps, just "ok." My wife's salmon, horrible presentation. It looked like someone threw a piece of fish and a ball of mashed potato against a wall then scraped it off and called it a Picasso. My wife thought the fish was good but not great and no comment on mashed potato. And my hamburger ..small (@$10.49). The toasted buns tasted stale and the single thin Angus beef patty was burnt and raw at the center. The 2 stars is solely for the waitress.
I loved the weathervane! The fiod is delisious but expensive though. Don't just pop in if you are looking for a quick meal.
Tasted Great..service good...but portions definitely smaller that in past!
Wonderful classic New England style restaurant. Our lobster roll was fantastic. Service with a smile & very attentive. A great spot to check out after a long day of shopping :)
Great food, good service. Always stop when in Maine!
Waited 40 minutes for a takeout order.fish &chips were cold and dry.will not return.
Great Sea food and steaks. Great service nice clean atmosphere.
We sat in the bar and waited 15min for service. The bar tender was so rude and cold. Food took forever, and the lobster hardly had any meat.
Should of went to McDonald's, for would of been better and the bill would of been smaller.
Stumbled In as I Am Not From The Area. Took a Day Trip and This was The Perfect Ending.. * Tip * Go to Restauraunt Website For an Updated Menu as The One Featured On Google is Inaccurate.
Menu Is Small, but there is Something for Everyone and the Place is Open and Inviting. Had a Good Experience and Would Recommend & Return. Since This Review, I Have Returned (2) More Times to Experience The Outdoor Dining and Good Service I have Recieved since My First Visit.. This is My New Go-To Place when heading to the Beach.
I was doing for seafood and this place had the best! was a great get together with family and I hope to go back soon!
Huge restaurant with decent food. Staff went out of their way to make sure they were careful to address my seafood allergy. Boyfriends lobster was good, my burger was tasty.
Reliable stop for fish and chips on the way to Maine. The lobster roll was good, though pricey. I think the portion of fried fish in their special has shrunken, though I haven't been weighing it!
Good food, just not much of it. Fair price, waitress was great, decent atmosphere for family. Place was little outdated.
Came to visit ME and will be coming again. The restaurant had awesome service and great food. Really good portion and priced well. Will definitely be coming back!
A little busy, but to be expected right now with the Covid and it being summertime. The greeters were very friendly. Our waitress was outstanding! Our food was amazing as ALWAYS!! I've been going here since I was a little girl and I'm now almost 40 so yeah it's an amazing place to go out with your family.
Everything was good, both the food and the service!
We went one time while in New England. The food was not impressive at all. And the service was mediocre. Needless to say, we never went again!
Very loud, obnoxious bus full of teens when I was there. They were swearing and acting like they were at McDonalds. The waitress moved us to another section, but then the new waitress never gave us our rolls and tarter sauce that we requested, nor did she ever offer to refill our drinks. I've been going here for 20+ years and this is the first, and hopefully only bad experience. Food is amazing!!
Food quality and quantity not worth it. No take out seating
Not really impressed. It wasn't horrible, but certainly not happy.
The Cons: Clam chowder was out of a bag. How do I know? Because it's the exact same chowder that Chili's serves. The scallops are the tiny ones, with no taste at all. Nothing seemed fresh (I did get a fried platter, but my companion got the almond crusted fish)
The pros: Clam chowder was delicious ( I do like Chili's chowder!) The fried haddock was very tasty.
We should have gone to Bob's Clam Hut from what I'm hearing. A girl at one of the outlets said it's all going to be the same.
Friendly staff and good customer service. We enjoyed our lazy man s lobsters.
Food was obviously frozen and not very fresh. This place was a big disappointment.
Weathervane in Kittery Me. Always good food and great service. Went for the first time on a Monday night. We had the place to ourselves. Make Mondays your date night guys. Nice and quiet.
Wife and I had the Seafarers broiled special for $16. It consisted of approximately a half ounce of over cooked salmon, 4 small scallops, and about 1 oz of haddock. The broccoli I ordered with it was the star of the dish and probably doubled in weight of the entree. Really, I think I paid $16 for the broccoli. Walked away hungry. Will not be back again. Can get better broiled seafood, and larger portions for a fraction of the price at other places. Pathetic.
Weathervane was excellent! Friendly and attentive staff and good food. I had a lobster roll that was as just as good, if not better, than lobster rolls I've had at much pricier places. It has a definite nautical theme and somewhat dim lighting, which gives it a cool atmosphere. Highly recommend!
