Water's Edge Resort & Spa Review

It was ok. Nothing special. The rooms are nothing special and definitely not worth the price.
The grounds are ok and the beach is fine also.

my husband and I won tickets from a local radio station to see a tribute show. The venue was very nice and we ended up renting a room. The room was very comfortable and nicely furnished and impressive. Although it was quite pricey. Not much of a view from our room, but the staff were very nice and there are plenty of accommodations and Great places to grab breakfast and coffee right on the premises. Warning... This is a no-smoking facility and they take it very seriously. They do provide a smoking area outside but will charge you $250 if they think you are smoking in your room

I am so disappointed. Had planned a trip with a friend who ended up ill. Called to cancel my reservation (which I would have rebooked for a later date) but was told I would be charged any way because of a 48 hour cancellation policy. (I was at the 36 hour mark) Will never book at this hotel again! One would think in these circumstances the management would apply some good will and better judgement.

Rooms are elegantly decorated with a modern conveniences and a old-world charm, staff is very pleasant and the view of the sound is breath taking!

It is beautiful, comfortable, fresh, clean, friendly and relaxing. Perfect for a home base while visiting all the New England states and sights. I only wish the lounging sofa and chairs were a little more comfortable and it had a dishwasher. Other than that everything is great.

The buffet was excellent with a variety of dishes being restocked to the very end.
The hot hors d'oeuvres were passed around by too few waiters to serve the whole room.
Went to see the elvis show. The music was great but only about 20% was Elvis. The band musicians helping fill the void were awesome.

Sprawling beautiful hotel on the water however shouldn t have the resort moniker for many reasons

Great location and facility, but the service is spaced out, seriously they are not on point at all.

Water' s Edge gets a 4 for ambience! The food is lacking in flavor. Be careful of the Chicken Lollipop appetizer served severely under cooked.

Everything was excellent but they should get better pillows. Also the coffe in the room was stale.

Went to the Sunday brunch. The area and atmosphere are beautiful. The selection of food for the brunch
was very good. The omelets and eggs Benedict were standard. The turkey and roast beef were delicious. Plenty to eat and will go again. Sat in the lounge area that has a direct view of the Sound. This area was less congested and Iess noisey.

Beautiful resort. Went for the brunch and brew event. Not many breweries and brunch was so- so. Tickets were pricey for what the event offered. The staff was incredibly nice though

Had the brunch buffet. Service was poor. Didn't ask if we wanted drinks and slow on coffee refills and taking plates away. Buffet food wasn't warm.

We spent One night with friends,in the Libuary Suites , which included a Dinner Special at a great rate. Dinner was 3 course, which was wonderful! Every staff member was amazing, treated us well. Room where very spacious, but must say a little dated, but very clean.I will look for thus special again !

The property is stunning staff is warm & welcoming and very accommodating too. The Brunch here is Spectacular not 2 be missed

Was here for a business conference and it was rainy and overcast. Great spirit and service, may consider for a long weekend vaca.

Great views, rooms are a little run down. We had a leak in our roof. There is a small gym and sauna, as well as an indoor pool that s nice in the winter. The place is decorated for the holidays! There are many nice restaurants in the area as well as two outlet stores for shopping close by.

We travel extensively, went with another couple to celebrate our Anniversary. My husband reserved on his CC. At check in the clerk was rude and inpatient. She told us the room we reserved was for one night not the 2 we had reserved. We had to call multiple times during reservation process, and were told that we were all set. The manager came to the desk and we finally checked in. Our room was an average king room, the bathroom was in need of updates, the out dated Jacuzzi tub was dirty. Mold on the tiles and when you filled the tub and ran the jets a lovely brown mess floated on top the water. At check out they put both rooms on our CC. Even though the other couple gave them their CC at check in. We will not return to over priced average hotel.

Such a beautiful resort on the Connecticut shoreline. We have been timeshare members since I was a child and it is one of our favorite places to visit for the last 30 years. Beautiful beach, hotel, and restaurants. Quintessential New England.

Beautiful resort! Well maintained. Extraordinary landscaping on the grounds. Something for everyone!!

Rooms are basic, looked nice in the photos but were more 3-star than luxurious. We reserved a suite and each room had an in-wall AC, like a motel (and similarly loud / annoying), and our balcony / windows looked out over 5 more AC units for other rooms. The decor otherwise was basic, the TVs were old / barely functional & the shower had limited water preasure. Outside of the room, the hotel was much better. The beach, pool, restaurants and grounds were well-kept and peaceful. We ate at every restaurant and the food was nice every time.

Not a big deal, but it would have been nice if they had a map of the property. Once we found our room, we had no idea where the beach was, if they had a pool, where the restaurants were, etc.

Pillows were terrible and the scenery from our balcony was a wall. You could also hear the hairdryer of another room at 6 am.

We went to the Dave Matthews tribute show and it was awesome!

Can't beat the ambiance but the patio food and service is atrocious.

I visited the Water's Edge Resort & Spa from 12/27/17 to 12/29/17 with my fiancee to celebrate our recent engagement. It was a short time to visit but it was WONDERFUL!

THE STAFF:
- I had been emailing with Steve to make our reservation and he was great! He was quick to respond, informative and patient with me when I booked the wrong room. In the end, it didn't quite matter because Steve had upgraded our room to a Villa!
- At the front desk, Morgan was incredibly friendly (especially for waiting for us to check in at almost 11pm that night). She always waved and said hello whenever we passed by the front desk. I always appreciate good energy like that.

OUR STAY:
- The Ocean Front Villa is breathtaking. I had seen it online, but couldn't bring myself to spend the money, so when they upgraded our room, I nearly fainted when we walked in. GORGEOUS (the attached photo doesn't do it justice at all)
- The Spa was awesome! The ambiance and service was top notch. We got a 50-minute couples massage and it was worth every penny. Sherry was so nice and did a great job! It was better than the massage I got in Paris. I left there so relaxed.

MINOR MISHAP:
- They did forget to give us our free breakfast vouchers at check in, but that was no problem and I understand it was late when we checked in so it slipped between the cracks, but they made every attempt to reimburse us for that. We couldn't remember how we paid, so accounting wasn't able to give us back our money, but we got a beautiful room and had an incredible time so that $30 was a small price to pay! I stand by my 5 stars.

OVERALL:
We'd definitely come back for another getaway. We are even considering to have our wedding here! I love that the resort is large enough to have some privacy when you want, but not so big that it's overwhelming. It was perfect. I would recommend Water's Edge to anyone :)

Clean facilities, not the best in letting you know what is where.

I was worried when we arrived early because the lady at the front desk was very abrasive and said "we don't check in time share reservations until 5pm". So I gave her my phone number and said call me when the room was ready. She never called so I couldn't wait any longer because we were dead tired from getting up at 2 am. I got there at 5:30pm and everything went smooth. My wife and I are very impressed. This place is awesome. Great room, very clean, great atmosphere, good food and drink. Would recommend this place! The first lady at the desk just needs to cool her jets. I've decided not to look into buying a week here because of her but I would rent for another week

I happened to get one of the rooms with a great view. Plenty of space, comfortable bed, nice beach in site.

The ballroom we were given was beautiful and spacious. However the food catered was sub par, especially for such a nice venue.

Beautiful location for brunch. $40 Prix fixe brunch with a pasta bar, omelette bar and dessert bar. A great variety of options including traditional breakfast fare like scrambled eggs, sausage, pancakes and potatoes, but also a nice selection of roasted vegetables, salads and quinoa. If you're a big eater this is perfect for you! During the warmer months, sit outside - the view is breathtaking!

Was here for a wedding, the venue is beautiful and the food is amazing.

The hot stone massage was wonderful, perfect and relaxing. The only reason it's not five stars is that for the price, I expected slightly nicer facilities. The staff was incredibly nice and responsive.

Attended a family wedding at Waters Edge. The facilities were beautiful and the grounds were meticulously cared for. It was a wonderful site for a wedding. Guests had the option to stay overnight. It's easy to get to being close to I95 with plenty of parking. We had a great day at Water's Edge Resort and Spa.

Nice and quiet place ,good for lunch on beautiful day like today

I've been going to Water's Edge for 20+ years, never had a bad meal or services, everything about Water's Edge is TOP NOTCH 150%! I LOVE their food it's always SOO GOOD the staff was so helpful now that I'm paralyzed, they didn't treat me different but treated me with respect!! I can't say enough about Water's Edge & their staff members, all I can say is A- 1 PERFECT THANK YOU TO ALL THE STAFF & PROPS to the GREAT CHEFS! If you're looking for a timeshare I suggest Water's Edge. My Mom got married there, what an incredible scenic wedding & seeing Mom being brought in by a HUGE horse & white carriage was priceless! God Bless to all- Faith, Hope & Love is what he gave us. Remember to cherish your loved ones & I love you Papu,- RIP!! YOU'RE MY IDOL & MY STORE WILL BE A SUCCESS AS YOU WATCH OVER ME. Went there for lunch with a large group. We got there before the kitchen opened but they seated us and the kitchen opened early to get us served. The staff was very friendly and accommodating. 5 star service all the way around.

Clean and neat. Nice view. Not enough lounge chairs around pool area. Drinks are pricey.

Resort is absolutely perfect. The one issue we had as a family was the broken heater element in the pool which was out of their control but less fun swimming especially in the way the message was delivered by pool staff. General Manager and front desk employees were great. Set up of the bedroom is cramped but living areas are nice and big and good for accomdating families(In the villa).

My yearly Mother's Day destination with the other moms in my family. The brunch is amazing, the staff is friendly, attentive, and fast. I have attended multiple weddings here and stayed as a guest and every aspect of customer service met or exceeded the expectations I had. I genuinely look forward to spending time here.

Beautiful resort, right on the water, nice and clean suite-style rooms. Customer service was friendly.
The only issues were
1: Handles falling off the cabinets
2: Pools and beach could be cleaner

The hotel is beautiful and the rooms are very comfortable. But the service at check-in and the restaurant is very slow. They also overcooked my medium rare burger to be well done.

Beautiful place on the Connecticut shore of Long Island. Nice gym, pool, hot tub, and other spa facilities, and fun, live music at dinner in the lively restaurant. Enjoyable stay.

Very good food at restaurant, pricey. Recommend for nice lunch.

If I was able to give less than one star, I would. I was in a wedding at Water's Edge and was excited to have a fun weekend in a beautiful destination. On Friday night, I stayed in a bridal suite. Saturday morning, I needed to check in and move to the room we would be staying in. We called the front desk, and asked if we could check in over the phone since we were in the middle of hair and makeup. They said we needed to come up in person, so we did. No big deal. We went to the front desk (in our robes) and checked in, and also added two other guests to our room, so they could check in when we were busy taking pictures. I received a phone call from my fiance in the middle of the first look saying he was unable to check in to our room. I was annoyed, but figured there was just a misunderstanding. We left the first look to see if we could get it fixed, and were greeted by an extremely rude woman named Becky at the front desk. I explained to Becky that I had added their names to the reservation, and she told me "that never happened" and "next time I book a hotel room, I should know to do that when I reserve the room in the first place"...At this point I was very frustrated since I had made a special trip to make sure this wouldn't happen, and was being told that I didn't. After Becky continued being rude, I told her that the man who added the names was standing two people over. I called him over, and he confirmed that I did in fact come up earlier, but he must not have pushed save on the computer. Becky told me he had only been working there for two weeks, and it was my fault that I didn't add them when making the reservation. A simple apology for an honest mistake would have been fine, but instead Becky asked ME to apologize to her! I have never in my life heard of someone working in hospitality ask for an apology, when THEY were wrong, made a mistake, and were rude! Finally she handed over the keys, and I walked away to continue taking pictures for the wedding. As I walked away, she turned to my fiance and said "Who is that one here with" - he said him, and she said "well god bless you!" This woman was degrading, disrespectful, and simply rude. I would NEVER recommend anyone stay at this "resort" for any reason.

Attended a wedding here. Beautiful venue with courteous staff.

Stayed for a family event . The bugs and mosquitoes ate as well as I did ! The food is good but sparse. Try to avoid the condo near the external air conditioning units if you want to get some sleep. Beware of the wild animals that roam the property at night.

Elegant, luxurious yet cozy. The courtyard has a breathtaking view of the sound. Brunch is a must; fireworks on the 4th of July is a favorite event.

Beautiful location right on the water. Food is fantastic. Visited for a wedding and it was gorgeous. Only problem is having to walk through dinner and resort guests and down a large hill to get to the waterside.

Was a visitor where family had rented for a week. Place is beautiful but food etc is very expensive

My fiance and I went to the water's edge for a bridal expo and everything was fantastic. The staff were courteous and professional. The location although during the winter was beautiful and right on the beach

2 days in to a week stay and it leaves a lot to be desired. WiFi sux and is basically non existent in the room or basically anywhere you will spend a lot of time aka the beach. Speaking of which the the beach is pretty dirty, our first time there we were greeted by a diaper in the sand. Let's see how the next couple of days goes.

I should note both of these issues have already been raised with staff, but in both cases nothing done, which appears to be a common thread through these reviews. I'm sure there will be a response to this review from management, but its really kind of worthless unless acted on, and if you can't act on in person suggestions then it seems unlikely you would do it based on this.

[Update]: I ended up speaking with a manager who assured me that the issue would be looked at and also offer a discount on our stay. Ultimately the resorts location is great with generally great staff, I hope they can fix the issues. Increasing to 3 stars based on their response.

We were fortunate enough to not only have our wedding at Water's Edge Resort and Spa but to have Shelby as our coordinator. The scenery cannot be found anywhere locally and the service cannot be matched. We felt like a King and Queen on our Wedding Day and it was all because of the staff and particularly Shelby! Whether you are looking for a short weekend getaway, overnight stay, vacation or extended stay the Water's Edge team will have you covered!

Over rated, dirty silverware, cheap horrible coffee, and omelette and crepe station guy had no idea what he was doing.
