Absolutely worth a visit! This is not just a temple with a huge Buddha sculpture, it is a market and very visual displays, of sins, punishment, heaven and hell.
If I had to describe the experience in three words: wow, wow, wow!

Huge temple grounds. Wat Muang means purple temple. I thought it meant center temple, but my daughter corrected me. Many statues depicting hell realms and other Buddhist concepts. Lots of people there. You can touch the big Buddha's fingers and make a wish. No alcohol there so we passed. Interesting trip and many vendors selling all sorts of food and other things.

Many food and drink stands!

Beautiful Buddhist temple with very large compound. I believe the Buddha statue is best shot in the morning. There is also an interesting perspective on Buddhist views of what hell looks like.

This should be the bigest statue of Budhha in the victory scene over devil ( ). The scene depicts the night before enlightment. This started in the late afternoon when Budhha made final decision that he will sit down here under the sacred fig until enligtment. With this determination, devil had raised the army to hinder Buddha. At the end of this scene, Budhha called by knocking the floor or earth (here come the right hand down to the knee and earth) the chthonic goddess named Vasuddhara or PhraMaeThorani ( ) to inform his past of good deeds.
