Dr. Collins and Ms. Reolfi:
Regarding the situation with Kimberlee, your response is still short of amicable. On your own admission, you are a small university and should be able to adapt when things go wrong. Things went wrong for Kimberlee. Your system told her one cost which was acceptable and then a very different cost after the drop deadline. If you truly adhere to putting your students' success first, consider the message that this sends. Your bad information lead to a bad decision. This was apparent just a few hours after the drop deadline and you could have allowed her to withdraw. Instead, you indicated to her that she'd pay even more to withdraw even though it was clear at that moment that your system lead to her error! In the end, your board decided that forcing a student to pay for something that she never would have agreed to is overall better for her?! Now, we are at an impasse. You are trying to solve this by finding more aid for her. You should be making an adjustment. You should have allowed her to drop the moment the cost switched on her. This is a problem and you know that Kimberlee is left to feel the full brunt of a number of poorly designed protocols. Those protocols are dramatically short of putting your students' success first. She's a single mom that has very little income and your best recommendation now is to take out student loans. This is the exact reason that the student debt crisis exists. It is callous, deceitful, and predatory for you to continue to operate in this manner. I urge you to reconsider the resolution. If you "can't find additional aid," find a way to do the right thing.
Took a tour today with my son. Beautiful school with a touch of family thrown in. Everyone we dealt with from our guide to staff members and Coach Mead were informative and kind. By far this school stands out above all others we have toured this year.
My master's program here helped prepare me for my career as a therapist. The staff were great to work with and made the process easy. Parking aometimes left my vehicle in range of stray baseball's, but otherwise, the experience was good.
Our daughter plays soccer and is in the honors program at WU. I have been very impressed with this university from our first visit, student/parent orientation and all the interactions with faculty and staff. Go Cavs!
pretty cool place, it's a college. why did google ask me to review it? good question.
Your education is a significant investment. You owe it to yourself and your future to fully investigate any and all information you can find about a school you are considering.
Our family made a terrible to decision to trust Walsh. We were prompt and deliberate when it came to denying student loans. The university ignored our intent to decline them and repeatedly including loans in the aid amount.
In total we have faced countless hours of frustration with the Board of Regents, the Better Business Bureau, and now the Attorney General. The university president even acknowledged to us that there are flaws in their system that cause errant communications like this. Yet the university feels that it more important to threaten collections over a disputed tuition amount just days after one of their former students loses her job due to COVID-19.
Further, we have offered to make payments under dispute to them. They agreed to accept those payments and not impact her credit history. However, they will not tell us how much to pay. I've been trying to get an answer for some acceptable periodic amount and no one will respond. The department is incredibly mismanaged and I urge you to consider a higher quality product for your education decision.
Moved my daughter in yesterday. She was thrilled!! She was welcomed to the Walsh family.
