I am currently work at a medical office. I was trying to communicate with them to assist in the treatment of a mutual patients. The staff there is horrible. They could not complete a simple task. I am very disappointed by this. They need to get it together.

Can't give a bad review because of 1 doctor. So far they have been helpful but i now have a bad taste for this facility. Everyone has their bad days, but as a provider you shouldn't being that to work.

I spent nearly two years as an inpatient in civilian hospitals over a five year period during a life-threatening illness that eventually left me unable to work. After my employer hired a lawyer and put me on disability so they could get me off their insurance I was forced to use this facility. I'm a 70% service connected disabled vet but had never used them until 25 years after my discharge. I had private insurance through my employers and didn't use the VA until I had to. This place has some seriously dedicated employees and they deserve a lot of credit for making this place barely tolerable. They send me to outside doctors and don't pay the bills. Their policies are horrible. The wait times are ridiculous. I currently use a walker and recently broke my arm. The medical device I need to use my walker with my arm in a cast will arrive in the mail after my cast comes off. I could write a dissertation on this place but I think you get the idea. Mostly great people, more red tape than the military and congress combined, policy dictated by politics not patient need. Avoid if possible.

I've always had good care here and also at the Durham VA too! update as of 2July2019. I love my primary care dr. Dr. Sinno, she works hard to stay on top of things with me. I also love the following Drs here: Dr. Hill in sleep therapy neurology, the orthopedics drs and Dr Baltzell, orthopedics P.A., and the chiropractors are both great. I can't remember their name right now.

Just called and spoke to operator lady named Venita Bocagen or something to that affect. This lady was mean and could care less about my concerns. Ms Bocagen I am going to find out yr employee number and complain to your supervisor about how you were short with me and also how you hung up on me. Just give me a little time.

It would be most appreciated if instead of preaching at the patient about what he or she is doing wrong you would spend more time truly listen to their concerns. Advise them on the best actions to take towards the road to recovery and all conversation should in private not for everyone in the triage room to hear. Very disappointed in the level of care we received here today.

Bedside manner, basic customer service, sympathy/empathy are just a few things that the medical staff could work on. Greeting people when you walk in the room, listening to the answers of the questions that YOU (the provider) asks, acknowledging symptoms, & taking your time to access the situation at hand, are all starters. Also, when prescribing a medicine, elaborate on the increased side effects that may occur. If the nurse has to give the patient something, informing them of what it is and what to watch for would also be a good start. Walking in the room with just a needle and saying ok I have a steroid... is NOT enough. The VA in Durham is by far a better choice in my opinion.

Despite what is in the news the VA health care system is doing a good job. Been using VA for 3 decades have had 3 surgeries all without complications. Always have had good Doctors or allowed to switch doctors.
Have PTSD with severe depression have been suicidal at times. They always admitted me kept me long enough for a safe release. They then follow up with phone calls for months afterwards.
The death rate from heart attacks and pneumonia at VA hospitals is lower than national average of private hospitals.
Yes there are problems at some VA facilities let's concentrate on fixing those.
Overall I know I an getting top notch care.

My experience at the VA has been great. I've seen many specialists and had to use the DR several times. Yes, it can seem a little slow.but the people are very kind. A quick trip to any other major medical center will remind you how good it is here! However being hospitalized here was substandard, depending who was working. Some of the nurses really have it together and some obviously feel their patients bother them from something more important.
Big note about 1 dr:
If I could give Dr Abella 0 stars I would. She was the hospitilist while I was at the VA. She withheld food and drink from me for 5 days while saying she was going to have a test run. When my family asked for her to abide by my wishes or they would transfer me, she said "don't do this, who would want to live like this?". It is not her right to question if I would want to live and then with hold necessities of life that I am asking for. I still use the VA but if I even see her, I'll run. She almost murdered me.

had a terrible experience in the e.r @ night. There"s a very cold, ruthless Arabic physician who works there at night, and I had been seen by another physician prior to her getting off shift & leaving who knew I was in agonizing pain and said she'd get me something as soon as the CT came back. By then, the male Dr. above came on shift, and loudly told me my brain is normal on CT, to go home, good luck, . I spent five hours in a room there to be yelled at and told that loudly in front of everyone. Do not go at night.

I am a nurse from the upstate NY area I am here for a planned surgery for my daughter. Dr Malone OB/ GYN (surgeon) is totally amazing knowledgeable and caring. Other members of our care team on Med Surg 3 RNs BRITTANY, LAWANDA & SABRINA CNA APRIL provided exemplary care. It was an honor and a pleasure to have had what could have been a worrisome experience turn out so pleasant. We even made friends. Well done Salisbury VAMC.

Discriminates based on Gender identity. Relentlessly called me by my dead name and used the wrong pronouns regardless of how strongly or often I corrected them. Would not share medical information unless I acknowledged a name I haven't used in seven years

Dr. Watson performed surgery on my leg last week. Everything went great! I ended up having an issue with the dates and times of my follow-up appointment. I called to see if I could change my appointments and Delora and the rest of the staff went above and beyond to make sure my needs were met.

This facility has and will fail veterans who come home with combat related PTSS. The Mental Health doctors at this hospital do not seem to care about the patients or their issues. I have been to this facility and it is a joke. The staff is nice yes but not good at treating our Veterans who just came back from deployment with respect. Some of the doctors talk on their cellular devices while running evaluations in Mental Health. They also stigmatize Veterans with fabricated diagnoses. It is a shame they do not actually seem to care for their consumers. That is why we pay taxes, to help them care for those who return home from war. If you need Mental Health services I highly recommend you do not get service from this VAMC. They will fail you every time.

This review is for the ER at W.G. (Bill) Hefner VA Hospital. I ve been living in the area a couple years now and because of ongoing issues I visit the hospital every couple of months. I ve read some of the negative reviews of the ER and they surprised me because I ve always received good care from the hospital in general. Last week I ended up in the ER because of an accident and I had a good experience.

I was able to get in to see a doctor within 5 minutes and received good care from the nurses and the Doctor. No one was short with me and everyone was professional. My only complaint would be the condition of the ER which isn t the staff s fault. Everything was clean, but floors could use some maintenance attention, especially the baseboard. Strange that the ER would look like this when the rest of the hospital is kept very nice.

Anyway, I know some people here had negative experiences but I was very happy and feel lucky to have access to this hospital.

We are blessed to have the quality of care that the Salisbury VA Medical Center provides. My father, and then my husband, were treated with the utmost dignity and respect until their passing, and then the VA reached out to me to make sure all my needs were met.

I called at 8am today because that is when clinics open. Automated message service said I was 1st in line. It is now 8:12 am and I'm still on hold. Clinics open at 8am that means they should be at their desk ready to work at 8am not out getting coffee or chatting by the scuttlebutt.

Both I and my husband have stopped using the Salisbury VA. Currently my Husband has been fighting for months to be re assigned a different Primary provider. These people don't care about us. The patient advocates are there to advocate for their co-workers not the patients. We're not free loaders, we earned these benefits. and we both have the disability rating to back it up. Shame on the Salisbury VA. :( Their so dishonest you have to give them at least 1 star in order to post. They haven"t earn it.

This is crazy, I'm sitting here in the waiting room watching a doctor turn patients away because another doctor took a week off and no one told his patients. My husband is being seen for something that they operated on last month but no one here knows because they never communicate with each other or they make you wait months to be seen. It's sad that the people who sacrificed so much can't get good healthcare just free healthcare.

Unprofessional, short staffed, and all around one ...

Unprofessional, short staffed, and all around one of the worst if not THE WORST VA Hospital I have ever been to. They are so far from the great care I have received at the Asheville VAMC, I never will return there again. Anytime I go in-patient at a VA and they are full and need to transport me to another hospital, I go out of my way to let them know not to take me to Salisbury. It's a prison with a VA paintjob, and not even a decent paintjob at that. I pray you avoid it!
