Matthews Playhouse Review

Beautiful building and amazing productions! Bonnie and Clyde was an amazing musical to watch!

South Pacific was wonderful. The cast were every good.

The opportunity for youth and teens is awesome. All the PERFORMANCES are excellent.

It's not a dollhouse but if-- hey why are you leaving?! I swear it's good; you won't regret it at all! ;)

Our family considers Matthews Playhouse to be a second home! From theater classes to productions, we always enjoy our time there!

We have performed 3 times in this Theater, and we loved it. The management is great and very supportive. There were excellent reviews from our audience as well.

What a gem to be discovered in the heart of Matthews. An always interesting mix of shows each year and they offer classes and summer camps. A wonderful community theater experience.

We have been to see multiple shows over the years and even though they may not have all appealed to us particularly, we do appreciate the effort and showmanship of the casts for each and everyone of them. This is a great place to introduce people to this great form of art. The casts are always approachable and the intimacy of the theater makes you want to come back again and again. The big screen has nothing on this quaint stage!!! We will continue to go again and again!!!

Great experience one more time. This is the second time that we have been there and as always was great.

I was in Lion Witch Wardrobe and it was an amazing experience. I've also been to some other plays they did like Oklahoma, and they were some of the best plays I've ever seen. WELL DONE!!!

Matthews Playhouse is one of the best community theaters in Charlotte!! Me and my family have been in many shows here and every time it has been a fantastic experience! Every show here has so much time and effort put into it and it always pays off!

Staff was rude and uninviting. The place was small. But overall, it was clean and would do in a pinch.

Saw the Wizard Oz there, it was great community theater full of character and charm. It's small so there is not a bad seat in the house. The show was great and the actors were well trained. The set looked good and so the music was well done. I will go to future productions here.

So enjoyed Miracle on 34th Street. Wonderful show and great cast.

Saw our first play there last Saturday night. Very talented actors and they put on a fine production. The prices for tickets are acceptable and they do provide a concession during intermission with a charge of $1.00 for each candy or water purchased. A nice place to bring a date, go with friends, family, groups, or even alone.

Great venue, centrally located, lots of parking, walking to restaurants and bars.

Second time I have been there, always a great show, giving young adults the experience of being on Broadway

Has anyone auditioned that's on the Autism Spectrum? Our daughter wanted to try, so of course we said yes. Both of our daughters auditioned for Charlottes Web today and I have to say it was EXTREMELY disappointing. What started off as her excitement in just auditioning turned into leaving with daughters that usually have wonderful happy spirits get their feelings hurt. She wanted to play Templeton. Only wanted to audition and say,"Im a happy rat", they would not allow her to speak "Templeton " anything. Yes, our daughter was excited, but did not run around the room with scissors like they told my husband. Our other daughter was in there and there were no scissors. Yes, it was an empty room, so our daughter ran a few circles when she entered the room. Our daughter picked up a lollipop stick off of the floor and asked if she could throw it away and was told to Go Sit Down! If everyone were given the opportunity to audition, let them audition. They may not get cast in the play, but let them do the best they can do for the 10 minute audition. This is suppose to be kid friendly, inviting schools to see these plays year after year volunteer playhouse. They want this type of child________________. Save yourself time and energy if you have a child with special needs!
This has hurt our family, but this too shall pass and hope to find and support a playhouse that recognizes ALL children!-Heather
