The Voorleesexpress is an organization that promotes language development in children by providing them with access to books and encouraging parents to read with their children.
The importance of early childhood literacy cannot be overstated. Unfortunately, not all families have the resources or knowledge necessary to provide their children with these opportunities. That's where the Voorleesexpress comes in.
As a volunteer for the Voorleesexpress, you will be paired with a family in need of support. You will visit this family once a week for 20 weeks and read books together with the child(ren) while also engaging them in conversation about what they are reading. This interaction helps build vocabulary, comprehension skills, and overall language development.
But it's not just about reading - volunteers also work closely with parents to help them understand how they can support their child's learning at home. By empowering parents as well as children, we create lasting change that extends beyond our program.
