Trendy bar with a good selection of drinks, bit crowded though

The inside courtyard is lovely and quiet, with nice lighting and pants. The menu is interesting but classic and tasty. Very attentive service.

My favorite restaurant in Basel! It is in the center of Basel and the interior redesigned by Herzog de Meuron is just stunning. The food here is very good and the price is average (for Swiss standard). In the summer you can sit outside which is also a wonderful experience. My only complaint is that the entrance is about confusing as you can easily go into the bar instead of the restaurant.

Very good quality dining from food to staff. Generally the menu is all around good except the substitute meat options, I ordered a vegan zuricher 'meat' slices and the meat substitute was not good at all, tasteless at best. Bar cocktails very well done as they have a proper bar in the front that serves to customers that just hang out for a drink. High prices yet trendy, good wine selection too!

If you have to queue twice for an event in the foyer of the ballroom, this is definitely too much. Please either do without the deposit (which would be appropriate at these prices), or create a quick return option. Thank you very much.

Absolutely favorite restaurant where I only had good experiences. The location is beautiful and very romantic inside and in the courtyard. The charming, competent service is fun to work with and it is a pleasure to watch them. The food is delicious, even with the reduced offer it is worth visiting. Very good hall for concerts with around 500 spectators. Nice atmosphere. Next door restaurant. Parking garage nearby. But you don't see well from all places.

The place is nice, wine was good . Food was alright. Staffs were sweet. The courtyard is very beautifully located and does not bring inside much if the noise of Clara Platz. I liked Bodega pasta more than Volkshaus though.

Delicious, the hotel is a little expensive, but worth it, the portions are large, the design of the dishes is good.

I visited a customer today for a business lunch. The atmosphere was very inviting, bright and friendly through the open windows. The welcome, the service and the hospitality were exemplary. The food fully met our expectations, sometimes even exceeded. Since we were already arriving around 12 noon, it was still a bit empty, which didn't bother us. Little by little it filled up, which we receive as even more pleasant. Many thanks to the service staff, kitchen and management. We will come again and more regularly.

Our go to restaurant for nice dinners. Pricing is fair and the quality and quantity are excellent. The interior is intimate and I can't recall having a bad meal here.

For me one of the best bars in Basel. Good service and very good selection. Despite the dark room, a good atmosphere (with candlelight).

Unfortunately a bit of mixed feelings: the bar and the restaurant are very nicely done and look really great.

The service makes an effort and is basically good, was just a bit "too much" for me.

I had the beef tartare and this was unfortunately not my taste at all. Sure, a tartare is always a matter of taste and many might like it that way, but for me it was much too spicy and the taste of the meat was barely noticeable. Too bad.

Food quality is good and served by friendly staff. However - Food is overpriced. Obviously a matter of taste but lunch offerings at lower price are usually fairly small portions (again this is very subjective).

We are actually big fans of the Volkshaus ... Great atmosphere, great architecture and really excellent food.
Unfortunately we were disappointed with the service today. So we found our waiter to be quite pushy and unfriendly. The food was delivered very quickly (after 10 minutes and not after 20-30 minutes as announced), but unfortunately it continued at this rapid pace. At first they wanted to clear my half-full plate, just because I dared to have a short chat instead of eating, then we were promptly handed the dessert menu without letting any time pass after the main course and finally we were informed that if so we have already finished eating, but we want to pay immediately. In short: the feeling of agitation and mass processing was conveyed, comfort and lingering can be nil. The waiter reacted sluggishly when we reported this back to him ("More time? You only had one course!"). Yes, but you should be able to enjoy just one course in peace and not be processed quickly! Unfortunately not a well-rounded affair for us!

Great design and ambiance. Small menu but delicious.

Was there for a private function...the room was beautifully decorated, furniture are of good minimalist, food was delicious, well presented and service was excellent. The plus point is that it is located next to a public parking, making it very accessible!! I would not mind throwing a function there !!

Great dinner, menu surprise, on our 39th wedding anniversary. Look forward to the next visit today.

Atmosphere and interior design is great, food was quite a bit below earlier visits. Nice and friendly staff...

The service was impeccable right from our welcome upon arrival and recommendation of a glass of champagne while we perused the menu. A simply dressed salad mache was a great to the meal, followed by a dish of winter cod both accompanied by a delicious bottle of Soave. A light dessert and well made espresso completed a very pleasant evening.

Great venue. Awesome restaurant. The 40th anniversary of the Pats Bigband on October 26, 19 took place in the Volkshaus. Great!
