Volkshaus Basel Review

Building with a large hall and a stage where various concerts and events of all kinds take place.

Great food, good wine selection, but the wines are very, very expensive.

Weekend in the evening: cozy, great music, (not so loud!), Very good drinks and popcorn, great waiters! (Rarely in Switzerland). I can definitely recommend the Volkshaus. Keep it up!

The Volkshaus is just for the people, you can experience everything here, eating + drinking but also events or on the carnival, nice atmosphere not too big.

Atmospheric bar with a large selection of cocktails. Staff very friendly and lets the guests try a sip if they do not know a drink. I've already been convinced by some drinks.

The restaurant is really very stylishly furnished. No cheap decoration, instead everything was very nicely coordinated in terms of color. In the restaurant you get both: sympathetic and brisk service. My husband and I are completely pleasantly surprised. We will all definitely go back. Try this good food, there is something on the menu for everyone in the policy.

Such a deception ! I was a big fan of this restaurant but the quality and the presentation of the meals are became so bad.

I guess maybe the team in the kitchen changed...

Otherwise the service was OK. Good vin service but any smile from the worker. The team looks little bit bored..

Flat bread appetizer...farmer bratwurst and pasta bake dish. All so good and a beautiful outdoor sitting area to watch the city go by as I had a drink. All was so good.

Beautiful place. I only cane in to have a drink but fell in love. Will be back for dinner. The courtyard looks beautiful, if only it weren't raining. The bar is nice and relaxed, good music, not so loud you can't have a conversation. Oh and the popcorn was a nice touch!

This venue was my choice for a special occasion and it did not disappoint. Their staff was extremely nice and helpful since our first email contact up until the end. High class service, great food and romantic atmosphere.
The management accepted our request for a customized cake, and it was a truly great looking and tasting cake, it was a surprise for our guests and they were very pleased.
The staff also recommended great wine to go with our meal and made sure that we were having a good time.
The Bar looks very cozy and we will definitely come back to Volkhaus Basel.

Before that ridiculous beyond burger made people into brainless zombies who act like the world just became a giant socialist utopia there was the beyond burger on the menu at Volkshaus. In case you aren t in the know... that s a meatless burger patty with the texture of meat and an acrid ammonia taste that I sure as hell hope isn t served in my socialist utopia; if I ever find it.

My suggestion; order other things from the menu because they are all really good and the service is top notch. This is a beautiful old restaurant that you ll be happy you took time to visit.

Very nice restaurant in the heart of Basel, service friendly and always on the ball, service, food first class, wine without a doubt, as you would expect, a clear recommendation and clear 5 stars.

From Friday, November 27th, the Volkshaus Basel will have its own hotel. As part of the press conference, I was allowed to stay in the hotel in advance and it really worked. The new boutique hotel was designed by the internationally recognized architects "Herzog & de Meuron". The hotel is sure to become the favorite of all those interested in art and culture, hotel lovers and visitors to Basel.

Very good food in a pleasant environment. We'll be back!

Good food, well-kept wine cellar and prompt service characterize this "popular - bourgeois" In-Local in Klein-Basel. Nevertheless, for the Euro-Europeans massively overpriced; a problem for the entire Swiss gastronomy ...! Pity!

Best food in Basel. We were here for two weeks for a business trip and this is by far the most delicious place from appetizers to dessert.

A beautiful building in Basel. Worth a visit if you like architecture. At the same time a small landmark of Basel. The Volkshaus regularly hosts performances by various artists. We recommend.

The food is great! Unfortunately our waiter did a lot wrong. We were a group of 11 people, when he paid, he told us that we should calculate who would have to pay how much, he didn't feel like it, it would take too long. He also explained to a guest at our table that they still have cheaper grappas, because this is certainly too expensive for him ... When I ask for a G&T, I should go to the bar, there I can see which gins they have to offer. A waitress tries to save the situation, that has partly been achieved, but we were all very disappointed with such a service. A pity!!

We had a fantastic dinner here. The service was perfectly attentive and friendly, and the place had a lovely ambience. Each course was spectacular - with the carrot salad in particular involving some sort of magic and the basil sorbet a sheer delight. The bill was not cheap, but we ate in a number of restaurants around central Basel and overall it compares pretty well. It's a really lovely place to go for dinner and/or drinks. Thanks!

Price / performance absolutely top. The food is visually very appealing as well as pretty yummy.
