VOLKER STEVIN Canada Review

The guys at Volker are always great to work along side with. Very knowledgeable and helpful. Worked for the main crew on 17th ave doing the main sewer/water upgrade a handful of times during the summer, and everytime was a good experience. Very professional and experienced crew.

This contractor in the Cochrane area has initiated asphalt work in front of my house for the past week. They did not even have professional conduct to inform the homeowner with a knock on the door or a note or a phone call. 70% of my driveway entrance is blocked and there is no room to bring my car into the driveway. Furthermore, all this happened without my knowledge and kids play outside where there is a massive concrete rebar sticking out of the ground. I work in project management and I have never seen this kind of negligence in executing work.

DAMAGED PROPERTY. A notice was left on my home indicating that access to a water service box was prevented by my artificial turf. Permission was requested to cut through my turf to expose the water box. A phone number was listed on the notice for me to contact the company to make arrangements for Volker Stevin. The turf company covered the box in error and was willing to fix the problem, but Volker Stevin proceeded without returning my call and without my permission, causing irreparable damages to the EXPENSIVE turf that I had recently installed. The turf company have since done the best they can to fix the damages caused by Volker Stevin, but the damage is still very obvious. I am now worried they will cause further damage my property when they need to access the now exposed water service box in future since a complete disregard for my property has been shown in the past.

Volker Stevin plow Southern Alberta highways, they take forever to clear the highways , perfect example was last week travelling on TCH 1 heading to Winnipeg, from East of Medicine Hat TCH 1 was a mess, soon as you got to Saskatchewan border, the highway was clear and dry , why can t Volker Stevin be the same and provide same level of service for travellers

Great company to work for, great people to work with always there when you need them

I don't usually write reviews, but I felt strongly compelled to write this one. After yesterdays storm, I was very pleased to find Highway 7, between Black Diamond and Okotoks clear and dry. Kudos to the workers who must have worked through the night to have it clear for the morning commuters. Thank you again for keeping the roads clear and safe. It is my first year driving this highway and I feel confident to be driving it during the winter months, with this degree of care for the roads.

This is a company that allows Nomatism act and discrimination against its employees. I would hope support from all the companies that give contracts to volker Stevin

This company started a construction project in my neighborhood. They put the speed limit down to 30, but forgot to put up an "end construction" sign on the route i drive so the result is that they have effectively changed the speed limit for my entire neighborhood to 30kph. I contacted the city and they confirmed that every construction zone should have a clear place where it ends and they took my complaint, but recommended i contact the construction company as well.

Today i did just that. I went up to the site and asked the nearest worker if i could talk to the site supervisor for a moment. He told me where he was on the site and told me to go talk to him. I told him i didnt feel comfortable walking on to a construction site without ppe but he told me that was the only way i could speak to him. At this point, i walked over to the group of workers by the supervisors truck and explained the situation. Rather than just saying they would put up the sign like i expected them too, the started to argue with me.

First they asked what my qualifications were. They didnt believe me that an "end construction zone" sign was required. I explained that its common knowlege, that i had googled it, and that i confirmed it with the city.

Then they said it shouldnt matter because the city is going to make all residential speed limits 30. This one surprised me. I explained that if and when that happens it wont have anything to do with volker and stevin and that the current limit is 50.

Finally they decided to complain about me walking on to their site without ppe. I explained that i was directed to by one of their staff. They said that it was common sense that i shouldnt have listened to him because he doesnt speak english. The guys english was really not that bad. Im sure he knows what ppe is.

They did finally agree to "look in to it" but wouldnt go as far as to say they would put up a sign. It worries me that we trust this company not just with traffic signs, but with working on our cities infrastructure.

Edit - well after speaking to a few more people and much effort, they finally agreed to put up the sign. I saw it today on my way home. I have changed the rating to a 3 star review. How they run their sites is the reason it isn't higher, but I'm very thankful for the sign.

The job on hiway 9 to beiseker was fine halfway through the job it got messy.unfinished as only one side of the hiway has a white line,the rocks left on the sides of the hiway makes this a accident waiting to happen.as a biker with a hotrod and a new car this is the worst job i have seen done in a long time.attention must be directed to the unfinished horrible job done on hiway 9
Just go for a drive and see the bad job done by the workers.even arrows are old as the worked around them.unacceptable
