I have adopted from here over the years and I also volunteer which, that alone is Extremely Rewarding.
I had a pleasant experience with my last fur baby adoption, and the folks working there were very responsive to my questions and or concerns. The animals are always well taken care of, the dogs go on daily outings, and cages for ALL the animals are always clean. That is very important to me.
If the animals are happy there, which they seem to be; once they are settled and comfy, it s enjoyable to go visit and hopefully find your next furry child!

We rescued our dog here in May 2020. The whole process was very good, the staff is amazing and caring of all the pets, the infrastructure is suited and clean for both the animals and future parents, and in all, it was such a good experience! Highly recommend!
The VBSPCA is fantastic. All the staff go above an beyond!! Recently adopted a puppy, everyone was so helpful in making sure we were set up for success. Not only do they care about the animals they care about the people as well.
We had a really bad experience. The staff would not let us meet any of the dogs we wanted. They kept saying the dogs needed a lot of work (which we said we could provide) and a safe, structured home (which we also said we could provide).
Not only that, but they were rude about it, not allowing any discussion.
I don't know who their target adoptive family is, but having had dogs for the past 15 years, owning up to three at a time, I feel pretty confident in my ability take in and provide a loving home for a rescue dog.
I came in this afternoon to provide a donation of 23 cans of wet dog food. I also had my toddler with me, who was having a rough afternoon. I struggled to carry the heavy package of dog food into the building while wrangling my toddler at the same time. The struggle in the parking lot was entirely visible to people inside. Once I got inside the door, a woman who is a part of the SPCA sat at a desk and told me the donation drop off was around the corner. I struggled again to try to get the cans of food to the donation area while my toddler had other ideas. But miraculously, my screaming toddler and I seemed to be invisible to the three staff members who were doing nothing at the time. I managed to get to the donation spot and turned to leave but couldn't exit the nearest door because it was locked and by some amazing feat, I was snapped at by those three staff members that I couldn't go out that door. Heres an idea, how about you employ some customer service and help people who are bringing you donations instead of sitting on your duff? I will never bring a donation again to this facility. Horrible experience.
I ve adopted 3 animals and have visited the clinic many times. Any time I call and ask for records or help I get a fast response. The people here seem to really care about what they re doing.
I have both fostered with and adopted from the VBSPCA. Both experiences have been wonderful. The foster coordinator makes you feel comfortable taking puppies home and is always there to answer questions and for support. When I adopted our puppy I was happily surprised with the thoroughness of the adoption process. They really make sure the animals are going to the right home which is not true for all shelters or rescues. I appreciated that the adoption process was so informative and supportive. I will definitely continue to work with the VBSPCA through fostering and will eventually adopt from them again!
Adopted "Brutus", a 4 lb chihuahua mix 9+ years old, adorable. The people at vbspca were very helpful, courteous and hard working. They obviously cared about the animals and are doing all they can do to make sure they are rehomed responsibly. Many kudos to the staff.
