Whatever you do, don't use this service to transfer money. My son is in Costa Rica and transferred money to pay his landlord for rent. The website told him the transfer would be completed in 3 days when he made the transaction on September 28. 13 days later and the transfer still hasn't been completed and his landlord is livid. My son can't call Viaamericas from Costa Rica to sort the problem out as his sim card is blocking him from calling their number. So I called them and they refuse to help me. It took them 8 days to withdraw the money from his account. They are now telling me that it will take an additional 5 BUSINESS days to deposit the money. So maybe they will get it deposited on October 13. Every time I ask for a manager they tell me there isn't one. They continue to tell me that they need my son to call in even though I have told them multiple times he can't call them. They tell me they can expedite the transaction if I will email a screenshot of his bank account. I asked why and they said it would verify that they withdrew the money. However, they just confirmed with me that their system shows they have withdrawn the money. I'm not sending a screenshot of my bank account to confirm a transaction when both parties acknowledge the withdrawal has already taken place. The issue at this point isn't the withdrawal, it's the fact they refuse to deposit the money they took from my son's account 5 days ago. Use any other service to transfer money but this one. What a horrible experience.
