Crowded place, and you know trains sucks in America.
Ok..its not a bullet train but trip was fun seats are confy.. Highly recommended.
Minor stop in Montreal coming from Cornwall, ON and heading to Quebec City last year. Love connecting in this station as everything is labeled properly and people are friendly all around. There's also much to do while you wait which is an extra bonus! Never had a bad time here or Montreal in general.
Easily the most gorgeous station I've been to. There's a wide selection of restaurants in their market place, access to a lovely little mall (with a handy Shoppers just down the hall from the entrance, and another food court across from that), and I found the staff to be very polite and helpful. Can't wait to make another stop here on my next venture up!
Trains only ... but ...
Great train station. Connected to the suburbs by suburban trains and to the underground world of downtown Montreal. Shops, restaurants, bars in the train station or nearby. When our children were young, we visited the metro every year.
Easy layout with food court and shops to one side and connections to the underground city from two sides down by Staples if you want to get to the Metro though you have to do a little hike it may be hard with luggage and or children for people unfamiliar with the area
Very clean and large space. Many shops and restaurants nearby (small cafes, McDonald's, Subway ...). Connected with the Bonaventure metro station on the orange line and gives access to all metropolitan trains and those going to Ontario.
A starting point to visit Montreal or the surrounding area. Taking into account the departure and arrival of several train lines to the rest of the province on Via Rail or to the United States on the Amtrak train line. There are several restaurants and even access to the underground route to the shopping centers of the city center.
Picturesque place to have a coffee while waiting for a train to arrive
No way to find clean toilets. Dirty sales sales and old everywhere. A stroke of mop and brush would help.
A busy train station due to it's excellent location in the middle of the downtown. The variety of restaurants and services available make this a very useful place to stop, even if you aren't travelling by train.
Very well located in the city center with easy access by the various public transport mechanisms
when a good lady answered my questions about studies, I hesitated before the answer I was going to ask her, she did her best to answer me and I bring her all my attention and my gratitude since I have some little put in a certain stress, I thank him for the answer and his great politeness. one day by virtue of my choices, I will demonstrate an acceptable and well-regarded future.
Very nice station, easy to navigate inside but hard to enter.
I agree with the favorable comments. But now, I have a question: I remember that the trains heading east from Montreal (to the Maritimes) come out of the station while backing up. I have an economical ticket, so I do not have an assigned seat. The question is: if I want to be on the side of the river (ie to the left of the train), should I leave Montreal to choose a seat on the left or on the right because the train comes back . In other words, will the entire train leave Montreal in the same direction it will have throughout the trip and only the locomotive will change places once outside of Montreal. Or, will the entire train (locomotive and wagons) change direction once the train leaves the island of Montreal? Thank you for your help.
Nice big train station which follows the decos according to the coming holidays. Always staff to help you meet if you are looking for your train line and the restaurants around are all very good!
The most beautiful station in Montreal. It's a pleasure to be there when I take the train to Toronto.
If you like to travel by train, be comfortable, and not travel like a sardine. You have come to the right place. There are departures to Toronto, Quebec City, Ottawa. It is more expensive ... yes .. is it worth it? .. yes
I like the atmosphere at this station. Very clean. Close to everything including the underground city center of Montreal.
There are lots of restaurants a d boutiques but not many people walking in them. Maybe it wasn't a popular time though.. Around 3pm?
When you need to go somewhere - this is a great place to start. Good ammenities typical of most good central city Train Stations. From here we caught the train to Toronto - 5 hour trip that was in fact probably better than flying (we flew up from Toronto). The business class lounge is very basic - but a nice way to start the trip.
Via Rail has excellent services and affordable rates
Station itself is just okay. Could have better lighting and better shops. Trains have left late for me my last two trips. Train is more comfortable BUT also more expensive and not much faster than Greyhound.
A large, beautiful Montreal train station. It is connected to the underpass and has a good location so you can go anywhere from here.
One of the most beautiful train stations in Canada, boutique, restaurant, metro, downtown, long-distance train, commuter train, and amtrac united states.
It's like you're in New York. Great place to sit and watch the world go by.
Good location, things are easy to find and accesible, train trip from Toronto Union to Mtl Gare Centrale is beautiful.
Very nice station, calm despite the traffic. A variety of good little minute restaurants in the narrow underground corridors
Clean and convenient. Have lots of news stands and cafes for passengers to spend some time reading while waiting for their locomotive
Center point downtown very good, both on foot, bike, auto (hire) train and near the river for by boat. Direction take bus 747 airport..Trudeau.
Very accessible new geographical, but too few places to sit to wait for his train!
: I really love the Gare Centrale/Central Station it is really spacious and big and has lots of food and stores around it. Also connects to the other malls via indoors and an underground passage for the metro too.
Food court is awesome even some amazing gift shops available!!!!
Best comute to wrk and back by far. Think I drove in once in 2 yrs
Clean, friendly, efficient. Will be using Via Rail again in the future. :)
Some improvements could be done the the sound system. It's hard to understand announcements.
Not the fastest trains in the world, but they get you to all the way to Vancouver from Montreal. The station is well located in the middle of Montreal.
The station is clean and it is not complicated to find your train on the board. Lots of food store are in station Hall, so easily, it is possible to take your food before departure.
beautiful, open space with lots of very accessible and nearby amenities
WOW! clean, it is a stress-free and friendly means of transport. In business class the service is exceptional!
Efficient and easy to find which train and platform to go to. Pre-boarding for families was a really nice surprise.
It is well kept. Very ordinary staff. The choice of stores is mediocre and often the employees speak French with difficulty. There is little seating to wait for the train. I go because I have no choice because it is the only place to take my train.
Not as attractive as Windsor station, but it is okay and does the job.
Spacious, pretty straight forward. Good selection of shops
Great variety of stores for all the taste. Practical indoor passages to several other shopping centers.
Access via subway have suitcases is really inadequate.
Very nice station but it needs some renovation and more decorations ... The parking should also be bigger to accommodate more cars
This station is much easier to navigate than I thought it would be! Everything is clearly labelled, and the safety of the station is top notch. There are never any homeless people around, and the station is always clean!
If the food places opened earlier, that would be great
This is an important transport hub in downtown Montreal linking the commuter rail system with Via Rail's passenger trains, the Montreal Metro system and downtown's linked underground malls and passages.
Large station which, however, is almost deserted in the late evening.
Hey, it beats taking the bus, if you reserve in advance and get a decent price that is.
What is with Mcdonalds in the train station? You order a salad and then have to go back in line to get the fork you needed. Then you drink your coffee only to see it's black even though you ordered 3 cream. It's all on the service order. Give them a few more years to finally get this service side working!
I wouldn't call this a great train station, but in fairness it has things like restaurants and coffee shops unlike some other stations I know. Make sure you know how you're getting into (or out of) the station, there aren't that many entrances from outside and the building is quite foreboding. The last thing you want is to exit the wrong side of the station in the wintertime.
Underground station. Very practical but I had trouble finding the entrances. Good place to eat.
A bit hectic and washrooms are outdated. One water fountain in entire waiting area
