I was transfered here from the VA to see a neurologist. I'm 35 and just had a stroke. Since it was over the weekend I couldn't be seen till Monday. Thats normal from what I was told. ER nurses and ER Dr's were helpful. A ER person even came over to ask about my time spent in the ER.There were 2 teams of 4 Dr's. One had my neurologist. Neither team came in at the same time and they both were started off by telling me something different.
I was transfered from the ER to a room upstairs. I had an ECO scheduled at midnight the night I was transfered from the VA. While my stay upstairs I saw the same teams of 4 but never together. Again I was being told 2 different things. Two days after I was transfered I was getting discharged. Still haven't had my ECO. I got my ECO as i was getting read my discharged. My neurologist Dr.Cruz told my wife, my mom, and myself numerous times I could not drive and not to go back to work till I followed up with him and had another MRI. My discharge paperwork did not have any diagnosis any limitations and stated I could go back to work. I called Dr.Cruz's office for them to get me correct discharge paperwork. I got a letter instead that gave me my limitations and said a stroke. Not discharge paperwork but a letter with 2 sentences. I then need my short term disability paperwork filled out by Dr.Cruz. I am set to be off work for over a month from discharge. Got his portion back stating that i could go back to work whenever with limited restrictions. Also stated that i couldn't do any heavy lifting and that it would take 2-3 months till i would recovery. My job requires heavy lifting and we told Dr.Cruz this numerous times. I took that paperwork into Dr.Cruz's office to get it fixed and asked his nurse if she called my physical therapy to check on my progress and she said thats not her job. She also told me that Dr.Cruz never told me I couldn't drive.
Over all my experience with the Dr.Cruz and his office has been horrible. Making the patient feel like their the nieusance. Communication between him and his team are horrible. You get told one thing but the paper work shows up different. If I am to follow this Dr's professional and educated opinion on my STROKE then I'd probably have another stroke very close. Dr didn't seem to care nor did the his office. Seemed like another rich Dr that liked to pass the buck. My dad retired from here over 10 years ago and said this hospital has gotten way worse and he apologized for recommending it. Thats saying something.
