I was a volunteer for Vera House. They have a great training program that will increase your knowledge about Domestic violence. After the death of my mother I needed a way to honor her by paying it forward. Working on the Alternative plan for men was very informative. I encourage you to check out the website and read the articles, donate your money, time and voice to help others and make a difference in our community.
I owe Vera House a debt I will never be able to repay. Because of them, myself and my 3 children were able to escape violence and abuse. The Vera House staff is so very kind and compassionate. There is so much I want to say, but it's really something you have to *feel* to understand. Thank you Vera House for all you've done for me and continue to do for other people who find themselves in abusive situations.
For years I was afraid to speak about my situation, it took a very long time for me to get to where I am now. Vera house has been the best path down this bumpy road that I turned on to. I'm not saying there are no bumps, I'm saying they come a lot less often allowing some smooth parts of your journey. Never be afraid to seek help when you need it or if all your loved ones are asking you to get help, it's worth it. The people here are always so kind and willing to help with basically everything you need and they have many useful resources. And always remember no matter what you are going through, you are not alone
Beware, they play victim for personal gain! All while they tell you what you are, they them selfs get abusive when confronted
Vera House helps victims of domestic violence. They are an awesome resource if you find yourself in an abusive relationship.
Vera house promises to help those in need of help from domestic violence when in reality all they do is make you feel you like your worth nothing to them, like it s a regular thing they hear or see so your just like other victims. They judge you by what they read on your application for help. Being respectful and patient gets you no where. I have called 4 times got assigned an advocate that does NOT advocate for me at all. I can t even get a phone call, text or email from him. Iam still struggling everyday to keep me and my child safe and all they can say is well you have to wait for your advocate to call. I wish there was another place or program i can call for real help.. My situation happened on Mother s Day 2021 & here we are in july and iam still begging for help from them..
My daughter is, unfortunately, in an abusive relationship and she was told an advocate would reach out to her. This was days ago...no contact. I called today & they are ALL out of town on a conference!! UNBELIEVABLE! A crisis center and they ALL go out of town for the week with no back up ! We are in a family crisis and when I call they told me three days from now someone will reach out. that will be almost a week at that point!! This is a crisis center with women that need assistance ASAP! So disappointing and sad they run this place like this.
Three years ago, I married someone who abused me emotionally, physiologically, and financially. He left me in the middle of the road for dead. I wanted to die. If it had not been for the counseling services at Vera House and my faith in God, I don't know where I would be. Thank you Vera House for saving my life. I will always support YOU!
