Amazing view and atmosphere! Enjoyed lunch and the Chardonnay on the patio overlooking the vineyard and lake.
Nice view on the porch. I tried the vino Rosso, enjoyed it. It has nice complex flavours , esp the tobacco.
We did about 15 winery's in the last 3 days . The atmosphere was beautiful and so was the food. Our 2 servers weren't so hot . We were doing a wine tasting and they kind of weren't paying attention and ignored us for long periods of time. After our second glass we decided to leave . I was a little bummed.
Amazing experience. Ivory who served us at the wine tasting was not only knowledgeable but so funny. The cafe and view was fantastic
We came here for my birthday and I was so excited to order the scallops and linguine dinner but for $23, I expected a more flavorful meal and more than 3 scallops. My boyfriend ordered the cod which wasn t cooked well either. My first glass of wine had lipstick stains, their complimentary bread was rock hard, our waiter wasn t attentive and often forgot simple requests like getting us salt and pepper. Most concerning was that their hostess didn t wear her mask properly and she walked all over the veranda cleaning tables. Dinner was overpriced and honestly over hyped. The best part was their small plate of $6 fries and the view of Seneca Lake.
Beautiful venue. Food was good, but service was very poor. Brought food to our table, but no silverware or napkins. Never came back to ask if everything was okay or see if we needed anything. Never cleared our dishes away when we were done eating and enjoying a bottle of wine.
We spent a total of 2 hours at this winery and were very disappointed. We had to ask where our lunch was after sitting for an hour and a half. There was no apology except for an extra drink .... big deal! Nothing was taken off our bill. When we asked about where our meals were we had a very arrogant waiter respond. He snapped at us asking what we ordered and was not happy when I asked if we got free refills on our drinks. A plastic cup of ice water or a cup of soda cost $2.25. I could not believe the behavior of this waiter!! He was annoyed with us for asking about our meals. Keep in mind that customers who came in long after us had eaten and left!!! The food was good but we will never go back or recommend it.
Dropped in at lunchtime on a sunny Sunday in January. There was a good sized crowd, either wine tasting at the bar or having a bite to eat, while enjoying the live entertainment. The two of us had the beans and greens soup, and shared a salad and a pizza... Delicious! The staff was friendly and efficient. We later browsed the array of wine related items available and purchased a souvenir. Before leaving we ventured out onto the deck, overlooking the vineyard, that extended down to the lake...beautiful. We're looking forward to returning when the weather is warmer and seating is available outside.
One of the best wineries on the Finger Lakes. Great views, Great wine, great food.
It's an ok place. The view and grounds are beautiful. Plan on waiting if you want to do a tasting. The food comes out in stages. We didn't get our meals at the same time. It was kind of weird eating in stages. One person ate, then the next. It was kind of akward waiting for each person to eat. The wines were very good and the winery beautiful. The number of staff could use some work on busy days. More open tasting areas would help too. There was room but no one there to serve.
Myself and 2 other adults were treated terribly by their staff. We came around 4:30 on Saturday October 15, 2016 hoping to eat, have a wine tasting, and walk the grounds. Instead we were ignored when we entered, and waited for a while before the guy and girl working the meal counter decided who would finally wait on us even as we stood at the counter in front of them. Very basic conversation from the guy who made it clear he didn't want to be bothered by us. Then when my pizza arrived, he said he thought the girl got our silverware, drinks and the deserts we ordered. Again another wait and then one of my party had to go ask a 3rd time. Finally when we asked about a tasting, and he said that's over at the bar talk to the guy there. At that point we decided to not do a tasting. Upon leaving we thought to ask the girl at the front about seeing the grounds and she said to go ask someone at the bar. We left extremely frustrated. They had a wedding reception coming in as we were leaving and again no welcome to those guests either. All we left here with was sour grapes ! Had been there on a limited timeframe and chose only this one vineyard based on the online images. Don't bother people. Their wine can't be any good when you get bad service!
I didn t know they serve dinner over the weekends so I went with my girlfriend one Saturday night. The dinner was perfect and wine was excellent. It was so good that I had to propose that same night! She said yes and now Ventosa is forever is our memories.
Overall, beautiful vineyard with a view.
Just had a friends wedding there. Amazing staff and service. Great spread and facilities.
I can't recommend Ventosa enough! We had our wedding here this past weekend and it was a dream come true! RJ and his staff were flawless! Beautiful venue, amazing food, and fantastic staff. Best place to get married! <3
Food was great, Frankie Wheeler performing was fantastic! Perfect way to spend a rainy Sunday afternoon.
Excellent brunch. Beautiful venue on Seneca Lake for special events. Wine was adequate.
Amazing wine and atmosphere. We will definitely be back. We loved this place so much we got married here.
Staff keeps up with a bustling crowd. A diverse wine tasting menu and reasonably priced food. Excellent out door seating. The view!
Wasn't a fan of their wines, and the service was very slow.. even with three employees right in front of us we waited way too long to be greeted, and then even longer to be served. We can be pretty patient, but a glance and a smile to say that you've seen us would go a long way.
My new favorite winery. Everyone who works there is incredibly nice but Donna was our favorite. Their wines are delectable and they have something for everyone. While on our weekend getaway we went back for lunch and to enjoy the ambience.
From Dan Smothergill.
The Friulano has been consistently good over the years. Sadly, the current offering has a generic taste, a big drop in quality.
A friend and I went on Saturday for tasting however one tasting bar turned us away as she said a group was coming. Went to the next bar and was never even acknowledged and noticed the people next to us hadnt been served either. After waiting 15 or more minutes we left with nothing but a bad taste. We will not waste our time stopping there again.
Four of us stopped by for lunch on the terrace. Gorgeous day with a view of the lake past the vineyards. Sampled the salads, cheeses, brie, bean soup, garlic bread, beef and cheddar pannini, and of course the white wine.
Could nit pick about the pannini and how sweet the wine was, but wont do it.... overall it was a great day, great time, and very relaxing. Fantastic!
What an outstanding experience we had. We had lunch on the patio with friends and the food was delicious. We asked if it was possible to tour the winery. Mike Cecere our host had his winemaker Jenna take us on a tour of their operation even though they had a group coming. Jenna was very passionate about her work and it showed in her descriptions of what they did at Ventosa. Our afternoon at Ventosa was a highlight of our trip through the New York finger lakes. I would say if you could only visit one winery in the Finger Lakes, you should go to Ventosa. It was that good.
We had great hopes as the first time we came here was in 2016 and we had a magical time. Unfortunately this time was anything but magical. For one, our server for the wine tasting decided that once she'd poured the wine, she'd go off and do something else. So we had to wave down someone else to even give us a glass of water. Then when she came back, and we asked for her opinion, she said she wasn't old enough to taste wine. At a winery. Where people expect expert advice. Then we come to dinner. What a horrible experience. First, to be ignored by the servers, of which there wasn't a clear one. Then, to have to ask for bread after they said it was coming, which was then brought out with the entrees under the guise of "the chef had to bake it fresh" (a lie). The scallops and linguine was inedible. There was too much lemon, and not the real kind, the fake kind out of a plastic bottle. Everything else was mediocre. Granted they comped the pasta but then took over 15 minutes to drop the receipt, and another 15 to eventually retrieve our card while our server (I think, again it wasn't clear) was entertaining another table. Very disappointing.
I have been to Ventosa numerous times and had great experiences. Unfortunately, today was not one of them. Stopped in for a late lunch around 3pm on 8 July. Ordered a couple of Ventosa burgers and got 2 cheeseburgers that were cooked horribly. Both buns were visibly burnt and there was not a shred of pink on either burger. The young lady taking our order at the register didn't ask to what level that we wanted our food cooked. Shame on me for not telling her. The same young lady walked by our table without breaking stride and said "every thing is good, right" giving us no time to respond.
Food was served on Styrofoam plates and packaged utensils and condiments. I know that we are in the middle of COVID but that and the service today clashes with what I have experienced previously at Ventosa. I am thankful that you are open during the pandemic and wish you the best.
We made a great effort to get to Ventosa today and were really turned off by the food. The view on the terrace is great though. Wine was good.
Stopped on our way back to Boston from Canada. Sat outside overlooking the vineyard, and Seneca lake. Beautiful scenery, great wine and very good (garlic) pizza.
Well worth the small detour off of route 90.
The wines were great! Next time I'll try the food when I have more time. Great place close to Lake awesome View
Place was empty 50 mins left...wouldn't take us ....really?
Relaxed, easy-going atmosphere and knowledgeable, friendly staff make this winery a fun place to visit. Each of the wine servers at the tasting bar have an incredible, wealth of information about each wine grown in the 23 acre Ventosa winery. The cafe is basically a take-out set-up where you order at a counter and take to a table.
Amazing views but very busy and the staff isn t very helpful. I had to get our own cutlery and napkins since the waitress didn t bring any and never checked on us. This vineyard only allows service pets unlike many of the other ones along Seneca Lake.
Love love love this place! Wednesday is 2 for 1 vino night. To die for view too!! Thanks for a great experience
Beautiful views
Very commercialize
Long line for tasting
Views. Incredible wines. Wonderful selection. What else can you really ask for? I definitely suggest a stop in here for a sample. I walked out with 5 bottles of wine!
We had an enjoyable experience at Ventosa Vineyards as we stayed in an AirBnd right down the road last August. A beautiful winery in full bloom, fantastic water view overlooking their beautiful vineyards and Seneca Lake. They offer traditional winery tours, we had a very tasty lunch of Pizza Toscana with a Grilled Pizza Crust, Grilled Chicken Wrap along with a bowl of Escarole & Bean. We tossed it down with a cold Yuengling and a glass of Silver Chardonnay for my wife. Our bill came to $ 50 including tip. Kid and disability friendly, there are restrooms on site. Plenty of parking and easily located and accessible. There is Free music every Wednesday night. Kindly click the like button if this review or my photos are useful.
Got to enjoy a tasting of Ventosa wines yesterday served by Kathy. She was fun, easy to talk with and very informative about Ventosa! My favorite wine was the dry riesling. The view was super relaxing and the cafe had a great menu! Definitely worth stopping in :) live music on Wednesdays!
Stopped here at a recommendation from a friend who knows we love our dry reds and it did not disappoint. Ivory served us for our wine tasting and she was amazing... very knowledgable and personable. Great views from the balcony where you can sit with a glass of wine and grab a bite from their cafe.
So, to start this review off, we got married here in 2011, so it has a special place in my heart. This visit wasn't all that pleasant and I don't feel that they cared at all. We ordered food and wine on the patio in their covid-approved cafe area. They forgot about us. All others got their food and left. My hubby got up and asked a waiter/bus boy and he said sorry, your order got messed up. It's a Tuesday and there were maybe 5 tables at the most. They brought the food out a while later with no apology, no nothing. So angry at this point and disappointed with a place that holds so many memories for us.
The views are spectacular and the wine is delicious. They have a wide variety for everyone's tastes.
The best pizza in the finger lakes. Oh and the wine is fantastic...
Just lunch today. Have been here for tasting previously. Wonderful views
The wine was ok. Reds were better than the whites in my opinion. Of everything we tried I d say the lemberger and merlot were my favorites we didn t buy anything to go though.
Best part was the view. Really not much more to offer. Safe to say my group and I did not buy any wine to take home. There are many other wineries in the area that are worth stopping before this one.
Horribly under staffed , one tasting bar open , hot inside with no air circulation ! The bar staff that did serve our group did not want to be there , barely communicated the wines , just poured . Awful experience, would not recommend, only plus was a beautiful view .
Very beautiful place. Great view of the Seneca Lake.
The pizza and view is enough for me, but I enjoy the wine too!
Food was phenomenal! Service was a bit lack luster.
Pleasant place for a glass of wine and a bite to eat.. that is until the bees found us as we were on the deck at first. We finally had to retreat to inside. Nice looking facility and I do recommend stopping by.
The cab franc was fruit forward & had a smooth finish but the pizza was exceptionally good . Spectacular view to boot.
First off do not go there at all during a pandemic. The wine glass for the tasting had someone else's lip stick left on my wife's glass....ewww. Secondly, half their wines are completely tasteless, as if someone waved grapes over a glass of tap water. Third of all, there are no sweet wines at all, they barely introduce their wines as dry to semi-sweet, then the reds are dry to drier, with no description of the grapes, flavors (not that there is much flavor). It is truly not worth the money to barely taste wine get covid from the unwashed glasses.
HORRIBLE, waited over an hour for a tasting. Walked out because they never filled it.
I was married at Ventosa Vineyards in 2018 and went back for our 2 year anniversary this weekend. Our wedding was amazing and top-notch. It had rained in the morning and staff WIPED down the grass before our guests got there to make sure it wasn't slippery! They drove my elderly family members around in a golf cart so that they didn't have to strain themselves to get to the lawn area, and to this day people tell me it was the best food they've had at a wedding ever! I trusted the manager RJ with a lot of the decisions we made, and was happy with all of them. There is so much turnover in this industry, it was refreshing to work with someone who had been there for so long, and was married there himself! Visiting during COVID-19 was no different. The service and food was top-notch, and we were able to still have the gorgeous view that attracted us in the first place. Highly recommend!
Where do I even begin? Ventosa was amazing for our wedding! RJ helped us every step of the way. We didn't even need a wedding planner. He took care of it all. They were so understanding with COVID & let us push back a full year (we are from out of state). They did everything they could to make our day perfect. The grounds are beautiful. Picture perfect. The food was amazing as well. Everyone is still raving about the sirloin. Absolutely incredible! Thanks for everything!
Just visited this winery for the annual Deck the Halls event. It was towards the end of the last day, and we weren't doing as much wine tasting (due to having a long drive home). When we arrived, we checked in and got our ornament.
We decided not to taste, so we skipped that part of the line and tried our food sample. The girl behind the counter said "you have to get your glass for tasting." I explained we weren't going to be sampling. She proceeded to make a fool out of us to the group behind us shouting "you guys are doing in right, they just jumped to the food."
I again explained, we are not sampling, we don't need a glass. She continued to shout "people just go for the food." Finally, we just left. There was no reason for her to scream and berate us in front of everyone.
It's a shame, we go to Lake Seneca several times a year - not only will I never go here again, I will let everyone know how rude this establishment is.
AVOID!
The wine tastings wasn't good and the food on the other side was nasty, reminds me of bad banquet hall food. Wouldn't recommend.
If looking for a nice place to have a great wine tasting or even a picnic it is simply beautiful!! The wine was great the food wasn't the best but we still enjoyed it! Definitely, a place to visit. If you eat cheese try their homemade mozzarella
Awesome atmosphere, fantastic staff, delicious food and wine!
If I could I would give it no stars! We had a large group and the hostess was very rude! We know these are strange times and we were willing to be flexible! She said no room on the terrace and no room for wine tastings no matter the number of people !!! Yet people after us got seated. Lots of other wineries in the area - no need to deal with such mis management!
Wonder place to visit! I will be coming back. The atmosphere, food, and ultimately the wines they offer were on point. The staff was super friendly and made you feel like family. What a wonderful family owned buisness to make you feel this way! Definitely recommend to visit and explore the beautiful vineyard!
Great view and a great variety of Wine. Always love the live music on Wednesday nights.
We had our wedding here last week and it was AMAZING! Some guests can t get over how great the Ventosa staff was. I 100% trusted them the entire process and they delivered. The night of our wedding they took care of everything and put me at ease. It s a beautiful location but even better atmosphere!
This place never disappoints... Great food, great wine, and a beautiful view! This is my favorite winery around Seneca lake!
A beautiful place with a water view. They specialize in dry wines but have other offerings. Kathy did a fantastic job with our tasting. The patio overlooks the vineyard and the lake. There is a small cafe if you re hungry. There is also a large banquet facility. If you don t have time for a lot of stops on your wine tour, go here and you won t need to go anywhere else.
Beautiful views, great wines excellent wedding details
Good wine, good food, and great place to just hang out. You really feel like you're in Italy!
Nicely prepared salmon. Get the Tocai Friulano white with.
Great creme brulee and canoli. Staff is excellent, great views.
Great service beautiful location. The wine is very good. The only thing I did not like was that I ask for a flight taste and I was served the 1st and the kept serving them in the same glass. Besides that, very good.
My favorite winery on our wine tour! It has an excellent atmosphere and a great set up for tastings.
If you order food I think it is best to stand and wait for it. We were late to our next wine stop because they forgot to make a pizza. But the pizza was AMAZING.
The best vinery we ve been to in Geneva! Amazing place with breathless scenery but what made this place a 5 Star in my heart was Collin and Allana! Amazingly knowledable and very patient... explained everything with great detail... 2 of the best people we met in Geneva!
Great wine, reasonably priced, great ambiance with nice view of the lake.
A must see ! Ventosa offers outstanding views of Seneca Lake, a tasty lunch menu, very nice wines, and an overall experience that will really make you wonder "Am I in Tuscany or Seneca Lake?" Highly recommend !
One of the best places I could have experienced working at for 7 years. Best memories of my life. Thank you.
Cold service, felt like we were being pushed out the door from the moment we ordered.
Fine range & variety of wines. We especially enjoyed the reds & the notable pinot noir. Excellent wine made all the better by Patty who served us and provided wonderful information & input. She is top notch & should be recognized for her contributions!
Lovely views, great service and high end wine! Such a great find in the area. The group I brought here was so impressed. Try the Saggio XI and try to stay for dinner!
My wife and I went for their live music on Wednesday nights and loved it. Great day reds available, the food was awesome, and the musical act did a great job. Highly recommend for a date night!
