The contacts I had to describe this business as: as excellent as far as Dutch-speaking staff, and extremely annoying that the French and immigrant staff. Specifically: good points for the professional and courteous seller, ditto for the customer (service 'after sales') and the highly qualified repairman-joiner, but bad for the immigrant, rude receptionist and the even impertinent French movers.

3 years ago we bought 6 chairs at Vastiau Godeau for 75 each. 3 years later (just outside the warranty period) the legs of several chairs start to break. This means that you literally fall through your chair ... Poor quality as it turns out (the heaviest one at home weighs 69 kilos). For a set of replacement legs Vastiau Godeau shamelessly charges 45 / chair ... When picking up, the matching leg caps appear not to be stuck to the legs, and even not included at all. Contacted about this, Vastiau Godeau charges an additional 36 for this (per chair). So 81 for the legs of a chair that cost 75 in its entirety ... These are unfair commercial practices. They abuse the fact that one as a customer is in front of the block: if one does not pay these outrageous prices, after all, all chairs must be replaced ... Nevertheless, we will do this last, which will be less expensive in the long run. Of course we will not go to Vastiau Godeau for this, we have learned our lesson.

I bought a HTL brand leather sofa with relax.
The leather is of good quality, but very disappointed by the quality of the finish: apparent staples, 2 shots in a folder, difference in the positioning of the 2 seats, loose thread, important folds in the seats.
Vastiau Godeau sent me a repairer (Dutch) who improved the situation, rest that the staples can not be hidden and the folds remain ... it seems to wait 3 months to see if the folds persist ...?

Having bought another leather salon and other furniture in the store, I was really expecting better !!

Bad faith that borders on dishonesty.

We received no information from VG about the delay, we had to call them ourselves every few weeks to check what was going on. Will not go back.

NEVER go to VG. It is clear that this store is no longer required, just heirs who live on their rents (they paid their capital 12.5 million euros in 2017 while they made 1.1 million euros in losses. Losses in 2018? 1.8 million euros! In other words: the company is making losses and the owners of the company are offered 12.5 million euros in cash.I can not understand how it can be legal.

Nobody in the store. The same choice as the competition but more expensive.
Store either unheated or overheated (no thermostatic valve) All in single glazing of course ... It is in 2019 and Vastiau-Godeau polluted alone as a small country in Africa.

We bought a bed which we expect a certain quality because it cost 2.000 euros (without box spring or mattress). After only a few months (under warranty) he creaks horribly, waking us up at night when we move. So I contact VG confident that they will rush to solve my problem.

The SAV is an absolute HORROR. They do not give a damn about it ... We laugh at you (literally), we make you crazy.

I am asking for an emergency service I am told that the law gives them 3 months to solve the problem.
They tell me that a gentleman must first come to see to identify the problem to be on that comes from bed. I explain to them (in Fr and NL) having removed the box spring and mattress of the bed and that it is the LIT which creaks (since there is more than him). I am told that we have never heard a creaky bed and that a gentleman must come and check. How to make people crazy !! And that obviously if it comes for nothing I have to pay 50th of displacement + 75h of the hour.
I ask for a replacement bed, at least 5x, and at no time do you answer me. Total Niage. My question is simply ignored.
Finally, a gentleman came. To check .... Conclusion: yes it is the bed squeaks. No kidding.

It's like being mad! And at no time are they sorry. I am just a hindrance in their day and make it feel.

Really scandalous. For lack of space, I spare you other things that are hard to believe. I decided to take this case to the justice of the peace. First time in my life that I do something like that.

We do not sleep anymore and VG does not care, or even takes pleasure. Well they will see ... I will rent a bed, take a lawyer and make them pay for a bed, the full refund of mine and my lost time to take care of that and the fees of my lawyer of course. It will cost them 3 beds!

Vastiau Godeau is a dying old woman, abandoned by her heirs who make it a cash factory. I went to see their balance sheets, I did not come back. This company makes between 1 and 2 million (!) Euros of LOSSES over the last years. And what did she do in 2017, an exercise that sees a loss of 1.1m euros! Shareholders (Eric Vastiau and his family) were paid 12.5 million (excluding salaries, just shareholder remuneration). So the store is at the end of bankruptcy, the boat is sinking, and captains are stuffing themselves with cash on their lifeboats. Chic and clean ...

The only compensation offered (after several phone calls from us and several emails) is the free assembly of the wardrobe, delivery not included. For furniture that cost us more than 1400 euros, it is a meager compensation ...

In response to Vastiau Godeau's comment: we have never been informed of the receipt of the wardrobe on October 10 in your store (I learn it by reading your comment). It's pretty amazing. We would then have asked you to deliver the wardrobe and we would have picked up the drawers ourselves at their reception. Even if we made a slight modification of our initial order (adding 2 drawers) two weeks later, it still remains a delay of 1 month and a half for the moment taking into account these two weeks. You offer us a delivery and assembly for mid-November now, so the delay in delivery remains 2 months and we will have our wardrobe 3 months after the order ... Your offer of 140 euros of assembly remains derisory compared the inconvenience and the price of the wardrobe.
You can not hide behind your manufacturer, it is still you who announce the delays to the customers and if your manufacturer is not able to hold them, then there is no word more fair than publicity false.

If the exhibition space is very well stocked, the service could be described as execrable or nonexistent.

We had come to order; we were invited to go see the collection on the internet (no paper catalog: I can design it for ecological reasons), and make our composition .... home, since there is no computer available or wifi connection ... then come back to order (?!? !!).
The competing store that we bought the next day did not exhibit as much, but the sales consultant was available, and goodwill.

Too bad not to take advantage of this beautiful space to differentiate you from online sales.
