50 minutes after getting in we got our first round of drinks... by that point we had been told they would be over in 2 minutes 3 times. They didn t apologise at all they just said we re busy today. The boys on the table next to us seemed to have the same issue, one of them flagged down a waitress who turned around and bluntly said what. We decided to get a takeaway

Such an amazing place ! Been recommended by the staff from one restaurant near by , as we were exploring the area.Best cocktails , we don't even get that quality in London.We Will come back and the view is to fall in love.
Great views! Great atmosphere! Very polite and friendly staff, our taxi was very late and we tried to call ahead but no one would answer which would be the only downfall but when we arrived late they was very accommodating which made everything better! Great cocktails and atmosphere like I said before!! Would definitely recommend!
Lovely venue and drinks were nice however the whole process to get in was not great. Had a table booked for 1pm ,arrived just before 1, and didn't get seated until 1.20 as it was a slow process letting people in . I understand its due to covid but surely there could be a quicker process. Ordered second round of drinks at 1.55 as we were aware we only had the table until 2.30 , no drinks came . I asked a waitress at 2.15 , who was quite blunt and said the ap had gone down which I guess can't be helped but surely you'd check if anyone had put orders in. I feel this is often the blame when drinks don't arrive. We got our drinks at 2.20 so had to quickly drink them before we had to leave . Just a little bit disappointed as usually TVC is very good . Will probably avoid for a while, until restrictions lift fully.
Even though the webpage says outdoor heating is available on a cold evening the heating was barely enough to keep us from freezing. Most of the tables had been rained on and were not protected from the wind. Staff was quite unfriendly and refused to let us switch to a more secluded table. The cocktails were very good but this did not compensate for bad service and horrible atmosphere. Overall a very disappointing experience.
We went there 2 days ago to have lunch, it was very pleasant, the food was delicious, the waiters very kind and the view amazing. To enter I had to scan the QR code of the Varsity club and enter my details (covid measure) and my boyfriend who did the reservation did not have to do anything. Yesterday, We had to scan 1 NHS QR Code for the all group.
Today, we arrived at 4 for a reservation during the afternoon. A guy was at the door, checking the bookings. He asked us to do the QR code. I thought it was the one as the first day but no. He said, in a mean way that we all had to do the NHS QR Code otherwise we could live. We went outside to download the app but one of us had a too old version of her phone and could not download it. We tried to explain but he asked us to leave, that it was our issue, not his and if we did not have, we could go and come back only with it.
It would be great that you have only one policy and that we are not rejected from the bar like that, in a way not very pleasant. We really liked the bar that we discovered the other way but the way the guy talked to us was not acceptable. We do not want to come back if we are treated like that. The Varsity Club is supposed to be chic but it is not a way to welcome the customers. I worked in a chic place and I've never seen that.
I hope you will take this comment in consideration, otherwise the restaurant itself was very good and I recommend it, just not the guy who was at the entrance. The food and mocktails were amazing anyway.
A MUST GO place in Oxford
Perfect for dates, a roof top bar with amazing Oxford views, the skyline 360 degrees. Prices are rather fair, however good for one or two drinks.
Food wise is delicious, lots of flavour, good size portion of food. Average price.
Staff is Friendly
Fantastic place to go. We had champagne and small plates on the rooftop overlooking Oxford s beautiful skyline. Really good atmosphere, music and warm seats. People are still getting out and doing it safely following the rules.
