This place is a family tradition every year. They are beginning to expand to other things outside of the "traditional" Christmas items, new village displays too. Look forward to building this tradition with our son as he grows up.

Ok. Although pricey, this is one of the most comprehensive Christmas shops I have ever enjoyed shopping in. The employees seem to honestly enjoy their job, and are always eager to assist or just chat. For those who truly enjoy this season and all of the trimmings that make Christmas spiritually and esthetically joyful, this is worth the crowds and higher prices. The store has truly unique, traditional and exotic Christmas decorations. There is a full complement of Christian and commercial Christmas decorations and many, many trees, wreaths and other items. I fortunately got the chance to go the day before Halloween, and the shop was fully decked out for Christmas. In the holiday spirit now, and ready to build my house decorations. Take the trip to Valley View Farms, and savor the fllavor of an intense Christmas experiance. You will not be sorry !

Staff was unprofessional and rude. I was shocked, since the prices are high, i expected better service. At the register the 2 girls were to busy talking to each other than providing me with customer service. Never spoke to me once. In fact nobody in the store greeted me or asked if i needed help. I won't be back. Please teach your Employees Customer service. I did like the young man, that walk me to my car. He was delightful.

not that great, went yesterday as they had been pushing an event with apple picking. wine is mostly from phillip carter, the two that valley makes are 'ok'. the cider is good tho as was the mead (from location out near Warrenton i believe). DO NOT do the apple picking tho- almost all we saw on the trees set aside for it are rotten/worm-eaten/split open. its a waste of money. As a winery the place does have potential (beautiful view) but has a LONGGGG way to go. advice- get staff knowledgeable on wine or does better explaining it, tasting room (i know you only opened in May) could do with more anything, very utilitarian at this point.

They have a wide variety of landscaping and gardening items. Their Christmas decoration selection is unparalleled. Some things can be a little pricey, but their wide selection and quality make up for it.

This place is amazing. The selection is plentiful. I spent at least an hour there trying to decide what I wanted. When I got home I immediately repotted my plants and was surprised by how health the roots were. Definitely will buy from again.

Great for herb and flower planting. Good selection of garden supplies, fertilizers. Not a fan of the price range and selection of pots. Otherwise easily accessible and VERY courteous staff.

Best selection of plants, trees and shrubs. Huge selection of pottery for planters. And inside a great selection of potting soil, fertilizer etc. And then there's Christmas time... With the most beautiful decorated Christmas trees.

Staff was friendly. I purchase a Fiddle Leaf Fig plant 8/28/16 around 1pm...I was so indecisive on choosing the right plant but the kind lady was patient with me. Love the experience, will go back

Back again today and I was dismayed to find that the handicap ramp INTO the store is now marked as a ONE WAY EXIT. Even has DO NOT ENTER SIGNS. Probably a violation of the law. Yellow tape used indoors and furniture arranged to prevent you from getting a cart or basket. No better than my observation below from last year. Very busy all the time. Parking lot and store needs renovation to allow our aging clients to better negotiate the store. I've been there twice this week and employees seem to be using the store like a phone booth in the greenhouse. No chance these were clients based on the conversations. Wish some of their pricing was more affordable. They were 20 cents or more higher on the items I was seeking than the highest other local store.

Really like seeing all the plants there. Many were out during my visit. They did have a few unique plants along the range of what I was looking for. Inside people very helpful. Hard to find regular help on the outside. But there are people there, just not enough in some cases or hard to find at different times. Prices vary. They do have nice sales.

Always a holiday favorite. You can find just about any ornament you can imagine. From occupations to hobbies, sports and more. The international shop has some interesting finds. There's a small cafe located behind the large decorated trees where you can grab a bite to eat. A beautiful place to make holiday memories.

9/25/20 - Don't be fooled by the "gentle" response from VVF to my complaint. It took them 3 weeks to put that there and they have not contacted me by phone, email or text since this happened 3 weeks ago. 9/7/20 Too bad there isn't less than one. I went there on Labor day and the following is the letter I sent to them regarding my bad experience. They did not respond to me, but apparently they DID respond to a different customer who called them out regarding my experience and made some outlandish claims which are completely untrue. I suppose the mask-police manager needed to make his "story" sound better. If this is how their business is run, you may want to think twice about going there. I hear they don't treat their employees all that well anyway, so it must be hard to keep good people. MY LETTER: My name is Lynn Richardson, and I am the 60+ year old woman who got thrown out of the garden center today for not wearing a mask outside with no one around me, by your gestapo manager. I spent 45 minutes in the tree & shrubbery area picking out two topiary trees. As my husband & I approached the check out area, some fellow said I needed a mask. I told him that I did not have a mask with me, and I was outside. He said I needed a mask and it was the LAW. I offered to pull my shirt up over my nose and said I would do that so I could pay for my trees and get out of there. He said no, I needed a face mask and reiterated that it was the law. I told HIM that I am aware of the law, and indeed I have read the executive orders (which are not laws, by the way) and then he called for back-up like I was throwing puppies in a wood chipper as an offense. I left the premises. Here is my point. The executive orders say that a mask should be worn outdoors if one is in a situation where 6 space cannot be maintained. This is obviously not the case in your outdoor tree section. Face coverings, however lame that restriction is to me, say they should be cloth. My shirt is cloth, so that should have sufficed for the additional 5 minutes I would have been there. This was not handled well. I had been a customer for over 40 years and your little face mask police brigade cost your business over $300 today. Now I know Valley View Farms will survive without me, but be aware that I am also a very active small business advocate in my little part of the world. Everyone I ever knew will hear about how this was inappropriately handled today. THEIR RESPONSE TO THE STRANGER: Thank you very much for your letter. We appreciate your concern. We, of course, have a strong concern for our customers and employees and therefore ask that masks be worn in every area of our retail establishment, including outside in the nursery yard. When the pandemic began, we closed the store for over a month in order to rework the store so that it would be safe to reopen. We lost over $2million in the process and had to let several employees go. It has been a tough time for everyone and we continue to struggle to keep every one safe. In this particular case, the woman in question was being excessively belligerent to a manager (we do not have security) when it was requested that she find a mask. She did lift her shirt up over her mouth for a minute, but would not keep it in place. She then proceeded to cough on a manager and on several surfaces, including one of our golf carts. This was the action that precipitated the call for the store manager and could have resulted in a call to police if she hadn't left the property. We can't always handle people and their personalities in the very best way, but we certainly felt that we made the best attempt here. We will be sad to lose your business. ------- As of 9/23/2020 I have received NO acknowledgement or any kind of response from the management or owner. 9/12/20 MEANWHILE-- Thanks to Glyndon Gardens for selling me most beautiful trees. Glyndon Gardens people were VERY nice. I suggest you go there instead of this place.

Valley View Farms is a unique experience.... right now, it is the best place to shop for Christmas ornaments, artificial trees, real trees, Christmas garden items, Christmas lights, etc.

We shop there, because of a couple of different vegetables that they sell. But I must say, that their amount of vegetables that they stock has majorly decreased. It gets smaller and smaller every year. It would seem that nobody plants a vegetable garden any more.

If you only go to Valley View once a year you HAVE to go for a Christmas visit! Spectacular amount of trees, lights and decorations on display. A bit pricey ... BUT if you are looking for something different and unique Valley View is the place to look for it ... and find it!

This place is fun, so many ornaments! Last year I got my favorite ornament of all time, my glittering avacado. The kids love it, too. I wish some things were more affordable, but that's to be expected.

Our family comes here about once a year in early December to shop around for fun Christmas decorations. It's an easy drive off of the 695/83 beltway. The parking lot is sufficient except at extreme periods of traffic. There is a police officer near the building helping to direct vehicles to open spaces (but it doesn't seem necessary). The staff is very friendly and willing to help. Returns are promptly completed at the front with no hassle. The inside is VERY decorated for the season, so kids love it there. Kettle corn popcorn is made and sold in front of the building.

The staff are very attentive and helpful without being overbearing or snobby. You just get the sense that the people who work there are passionate about plants; that passion is exuded and transmitted to its customers. Huge selection, one of biggest in region. Also incredible water plants area, and the live fish were truly outstanding. Wish I had the money and lifestyle where I could actually use everything they offer. Think they could have a better selection of pots, that would be my only complaint (and it might just have been a bad week).

Hands down the Gold Standard in which all garden centers should be like. The staff is very knowledgeable, they don't pay more attention to folks spending tons and tons of $ on stuff over the customers V's the customer who has returned about a problem with thier Elder tree. That's good community Work. Plus they have everything and anything you could dream of in there store. If you only make one trip out to the home and garden center this is the place to go.

This place is a Baltimore institution, and the (sometimes) long drive is worth it, no matter the season. My favorite time to go is Halloween when they have all kinds of pumpkins every kind of spooky decoration imaginable. Or maybe it's Christmas with the cheerful displays of ornaments filling every row, Christmas trees, garlands and wreaths - it's Christmas cheer everywhere. Or maybe it's spring when the large outside area if full of wonderful healthy flowers that make even the most inept gardener want to turn their backyard into an explosion of color. The staff is always friendly and helpful, and if there's stuff for every price range. This is a must go!
