The room lacked attention to detail. It wasn't quite as well maintained or cleaned as one would have expected. The bathroom in particular had a dirty floor, and a very inadequate light in the shower.

The quality of the food was really poor today, not much variety ,starters were tragic ,not many veggie options ,meat looked over done ,salads were limp . ice cream totally melted and cakes all dried out .At R250 per head for the buffet not value at all. The beautiful zebras made up for it
A beautiful lodge with many amenities. I like their big swimming pool, beautiful lawns and spacious rooms with comfortable beds. The rooms are very cleans and breakfast is the best. If love nature, this is a place to stay in due to its proximity to many surrounding tourist attractions including cradle of human kind.
This place is amazing, the stuff is friendly and very helpful. We had a glitch with our booking and they managed to sort it out. The place is well looked after. My kids enjoyed the activities. I'm going back very soon
The setting is gorgeous and the staff are friendly and so accommodating, but Valley Lodge really needs some TLC! The furnishing is very dark and dated, and maintenance needs to spend time on fixing the air-conditioning in the dining area and replacing bulbs in the garden lamps and tidying up the flower beds that once were so gorgeous. Definitely not up to scratch, guys. Very disappointing, and does not live up to the pictures on the website.
The staff was friendly and welcoming. The massage left us revitalised and relaxed but the cherry on top was definitely the buffet lunch. Overall superb experience
Had the most amaxing 10 year anniversary stay and spa at Valley Lodge and Spa. Definately worth the visit. Spoil your partner you will score many many brownie points. Hot rock massage is a definite win. Accomodation in the luxury rooms was 10/10. Even got the Sunday Times delivered. Staff are so helpful and friendly and buffets were the best I have had at a Hotel. We will be back!
I really enjoyed this place because of it's serene settings. And it has the most wonderful animals and the river is just unimaginable. This place has the Magalisberg river and canoeing here is totally on anybodies to-do list. This place is 1 out of a million and the spa is amazing. If you are looking for the best place to just relax and get away from the world this is the place to go.
We had the pleasure of hosting our I.T congress at Valley Lodge and Spa! Most of our international guests who had not seen Zebra so close were really in awe, it was a lovely experience for them. Would definitely recommend if you looking for a quick get away or Professional venue for an event - check them out!
Absolute exceptional service today. We were meant to be picked up at the Magaliesburg station but got stuck on a train going nowhere in Krugersdorp and the amazing Robert drove all the way to fetch us and brought us back again after lunch and a cool top in the pool. Lunch was simply sublime. Thank you!!
I have the most beautiful and tranquil weekend away at this this hotel. The booking was simple as I did it via call. We paid on arrival. The rooms are clean and big, very chic and elegant. We found wine and cheese board in out room as well as chocolate fudge. The food was rest and fresh and there was variety to choose from. The stuff is welcoming and very friendly. The hotel is frequent by 4 friendly zebras. The place is wheel chair friendly. Theres a big clean swimming pool outside. There's a great selection of wine. And their spa is amazing. I highly recommend
Top marks all around. A fantastic environment, set in the heart of unspoiled nature. My chalet opens onto a flowing mountain river. The large villa is thatched, so warm in winter and cool on summer. The bathroom floor was warm and pleasant on our feet. The large both is perfect for one or two. The resort puts in a nicr effort to ensure your stay is pleasant, with rose petals, turndown chocolates in elegant boxes, superior quality towels and toiletries. The location is beautifully quiet, only broken by sounds of birds and the river flowing. We saw Zebra up close and persobal peacefully roaming the property. Beavers dash between places as you walk and drive. There was a delightful bright green Eclectus Parrot at dinner and breakfast sitting on a guest's shoulder enjoying the food. The food is excellent beyond words. Most of it is is absolutely delectable and irresistible. The presentation is done by a professional chef, and the food is a heavenly gift in your mouth. The Spa is top class in terms of getting what you pay for. The ladies at the spa are very well trained in giving the treatments they are giving. The massages were excellent and I felt great, and still do, days after. The Israeli Black Pearl products they use are better than products like Clarins, La Prairie. Le Mer and others. It's one of the best products I've ever used. It's like a you've had plastic surgury. The Black Pearl range is beyond a face care product. It's a face-lift product almost. Well worth the high cost. I'll definitely be back at Valley Lodge.
Warm welcome, spacious family room, heated bathroom floors, chocolates on your pillow, newspaper on your doorstep. Freindly staff. Tranquility, zebra and Springbok at your doorstep. Wow.. We enjoyed our stay.
I have mixed feelings about this place. Food and staff all outstanding, with rooms spacious and comfortable. Nice yet not spectacular setting. But some rooms will be noisy because they are close to walkways and or the party / wedding / conference venues, and the Lodge is pretty expensive in terms of what one gets and in comparison with other establishments in the area. Also some maintenance issues with plumbing were not dealt with immediately. Not child-friendly with few facilities. I would shop around carefully unless you are looking for a conference venue. This is why I was here, and the Lodge does well in this respect.
Oh God! I absolutely loved it for lack of a better to describe the feeling! If you're a lover of nature, and love getaways, this is a perfect location for you. One word, AMAZING!!!
Great location! The service varies depending on whom you get to serve you, but the dated buffet dinner can be relegated to the past. Rather offer patrons the selection of an ala carte dinner in the evenings, and you'll get more feet in your bar and dining room.
No labels on food. No ice cream for desert - only dry baked puddings and cakes. No JC LeRoux sparklinkg wine. Only dry white sparkling wines. At R300 pp. I was expecting a lot better.
Faded and forgotten Grand Dame. Seriously over priced compaired to competitors. I visited Valley Lodge due to Google reviews gushing about this resort : epic fail. 1. Resturant public bathroom seats falling off the actual toilets. 2. Wall lights through-out the resort have exposed wires. 3. Our wash basin was falling off our bathroom wall - brush teeth in bath. 4. Shower sprayed everywhere 5. Telephone in room stopped working at nights - can't call for room service - used our cellphone, reception cant take orders - only the kitchen. 6. Indoor pool - IT IS NOT HEATED! as advertised, its only indoors. 7. Espresso is filtered coffee. 8. Dust, dust, dust 9. Room is cold, heating not working
Absolutely stunning! We had an amazing weekend.Good food, good service very efficient staff,/waiters.The Persian rug in reception adds loads of class to the entrance.
If you are looking for a place away from the busyness then this is the place. Beautiful gardens with a big pool to swim in or just relax next to. Wonderful place to go and relax.
Awful experience in the end. Everything started well, the general facilities and room was great. The food was not that good. Greatest disappointment however came on our second night when a company conference was hosted and the party very close to our room was loud and carried on late into the night, It's not the fact there was a conference, for me it's the way the staff respond to a situation or complaint and in this respect it was handled disgustingly.
I was not warned when making the booking nor on the day that a conference will be taking place that night, only after I complained when drunk people tried coming into our room and the music carried on so loud that we could not even drown out the noise with the TV, I asked to move to another room. We had to pack up and move at 10:30 in the evening - at this point the entire experience was already ruined especially as this was advertised as a "county hideaway" which was supposed to be a romantic getaway for myself and my wife on her birthday.
The next morning when I asked for a refund for the second night I was told this is not possible and was was rudely advised by the rooming division manager that the function in question was a last minute booking and although unfortunate, that the hotel is in the business of selling rooms (apparently at the expense of other customers) When I asked to speak to the General Manager she advised that, although he is available - he is not available to speak to me.
It was my 1st tine staying in the region of Magaliesburg, for my 1st time experience this place is absolutely lovely and breathtaking, loved everything about my stay...Place should feature in TopBilling...Gets 5 Stars for me...
