Awful experience in the end. Everything started well, the general facilities and room was great. The food was not that good. Greatest disappointment however came on our second night when a company conference was hosted and the party very close to our room was loud and carried on late into the night, It's not the fact there was a conference, for me it's the way the staff respond to a situation or complaint and in this respect it was handled disgustingly.
I was not warned when making the booking nor on the day that a conference will be taking place that night, only after I complained when drunk people tried coming into our room and the music carried on so loud that we could not even drown out the noise with the TV, I asked to move to another room. We had to pack up and move at 10:30 in the evening - at this point the entire experience was already ruined especially as this was advertised as a "county hideaway" which was supposed to be a romantic getaway for myself and my wife on her birthday.
The next morning when I asked for a refund for the second night I was told this is not possible and was was rudely advised by the rooming division manager that the function in question was a last minute booking and although unfortunate, that the hotel is in the business of selling rooms (apparently at the expense of other customers) When I asked to speak to the General Manager she advised that, although he is available - he is not available to speak to me.
Very disappointing.
