As a 67 year old disabled veteran, I have dealt with the Social Security Administration (SSA) and the Dept of Veterans Affairs (DVA) on issues involving SS and VA benefits, respectively.

SSA is much more responsive. The DVA is an entrenched bureaucracy. Applications for benefits move at a glacial pace. There is no sense of urgency.

I tried to call and the line began giving me a "line is busy" beeping sound. That's a very inappropriate way to operate for a place that claims to be a hospital. Can the department of veterans affairs not shell out a few bucks for call waiting?

Just great, I'm trying to get back on some meds after a couple of years. I just called and it took me 57 minutes and only spoke to 1 person. The phone rang for about 55 minutes before I decided to hang up. Called again and the earliest time I can get in is on July 25? So much for trying to help vets on getting they need.

Edit: I ment to post this to the Debakey hospital.
