UVCE, University Vishweshwaraiah College of Engineering, managed by Bengaluru University, located on K R Road Circle, is one of the oldest, famous, reputed Engineering Colleges in Karnataka, offers Bachelor of Engineering in various Disciplines, as usual being government organisation, not at all maintained, old unsafe structures, dirty environment spoil the scope of being a pioneer institution

Awesome College. The Best for BE and ME degrees. As a PG Student, I truly say that UVCE is the best college to Pursue Masters in Engineering. They have no stringent rules which makes you learn more with freedom and explore a lot beyond the subject which is a very good aspect. Our Principal Prof.Dr.VKR whose got two PHDs a dozen of degrees and who studied in Institutions like IIT-M, IISc is a true source of motivation and Learning is truly amazing. One can learn much beyond Academics from Him. UVCEians are Blessed to Learn from Him. Most of the faculty have at least 2 to 3 decades of teaching experience and Most of them are PHDs.This makes Us learn from Professors who are highly experienced and qualified beyond ones expectation. Timings are awesome. This is the Best College to Pursue ones Engineering Degree as well as Masters.Placements are beyond ones imagination. Simply Superb University College.

Lack of infrastructure ,since it is an old college. But now renovation is going on. Students get lot of freedom here. Classes will be not more than 4 hrs . Have many clubs to improve their skills . More than 80% students will get placed. It has beautiful environment . One can be isolated from Bangalore.

If you just want a degree - come to UVCE. If you w...

If you just want a degree - come to UVCE. If you want an education, I suggest you look elsewhere. This post may not be for everyone, so disregard (or read) this post at your own peril.

Pros: Affordable (very). Location is good too (heart of the city). Placements are good too. The college history attracts many decent companies every year. Most students (sometimes all) get a good job. Also college culture is quite lax, you will have plenty of time for yourself.

Cons: Where do I begin? Let s start with most obvious Infrastructure. The college is crumbling & despite improvements over the past decade it s far behind ALL engineering colleges in Bangalore. Forget high class working equipment there s no running water in bathrooms, sometimes (as my director from USA who hired me found out).

Teaching (non-existent). If you re from VNS, Vidyashilp, Cottons, FAPS etc or a good international school- not only is the college a culture shock, but also an affront to education . There are hardly any professors, and they hardly teach. They read something from the textbooks assume that s teaching. Labs are the worst- you are assumed to code magically or get a circuit working with correct output by just entering the lab. Not joking.
Add to that some (not all) teachers were genuinely bad as people. A HOD misbehaved with a girl (a friend of mine), and some (again, not all) were racist towards Mizo students. It s the environment I feel that lets them get away with it (opinion here not fact). In fact, as someone who didn t really fit the model student persona (I spoke English well & didn t score well first year) at UVCE, I too received bad treatment in Viva, practicals, marks or even general disposition in conversations regardless of how I behaved or performed. A form of schadenfreude I feel. Thankfully what they thought didn t matter during placements.

Crowds. Now this is a government College so there s no management seats, and barely any real athletes(like for example Jain college). Most students are nerds. There's very little variety. College should be mixture of people of all sorts from different places and different aspirations. Having ONLY nerds as classmates isn t a bad thing (trust me I passed because many of them helped me), but it s not a great thing either. It doesn t expand your horizon or help in future networking. At the risk of sounding elitist, you may not find the crowds you may hang out with but that s your nearsightedness and your issue, not the colleges .

Placements. Given the choice between a CS/IS at UVCE and an EEE/Mech/chemical at a RVCE/PESIT/NIT go to those schools than UVCE. Don t think of fees or course look at the big picture of college brand and big bucks placements. Many engineers at Amazon, Citrix, Flipkart and Microsoft didn t do CSE or ISE, but they got in and earn large salaries because those companies came to those colleges, not UVCE. College placements are much, much easier than applying to open positions as a fresher trust me! You learn coding on your own anyway - so it isn t a big deal to do another course in top college & learn coding on your own time. Go where the best jobs are not where the course is. And how you start after graduation is critical for your own future aspirations.
I may sound elitist, and maybe I sound angry but there s nothing elitist in hoping for a real education and memories, not just a degree at college.

These 4 years are very important and choosing a college can make a big difference in the future. Though I made great friends, and landed one of the highest paying job for my batch- if given a choice I would never step foot there again and go elsewhere.

Such a nice college, it has really good infrastructure and give freedom to the students , it feels like home and all students are very good. Actually the college is based on seniors and all branches are also good .

FACULTY : only few standard professors are there and others are ok but not good .

INFRASTRUCTURE : This is 100 year old prestigious university in india ,the building is looks some what old but quality is good, SELF STUDY is the key here .

PLACEMENTS : In case of placement UVCE college is in 2nd rank in banglore and 3rd rank throught karnataka .

MY OPINION : Overall I would like to tell something about this college ....
If you're from middle class family then this college is best for you.

Uvce is one of oldest engineering colleges in India.. But lacks in basic infrastructure itself
Now they are trying to improve the college, but what is the use when there is no proper coaching at all...?
Ece dept is one of the worst department in uvce..where u find someone hardly attending the class
Though BE students enjoy their 4 years here
ME students have tough time ..it seems like walking in forest with full of cruel animals
Teachers get high salary for not serving at all...they make fun of students who are in trouble by giving still more trouble..
Do the hell with your old useless stone age syllabus..
Teachers don't show basic humanity towards student ,do the hell with ur useless PhD n mtech who wants it...we can live without tat also..
Good bye ...utter nonsense dept ece...
Don't spoil the name of sir M. visvesvaraya..

I was very fortunate to be in the first batch of B.Arch student at UVCE from 1967 - 1972. Specially I enjoyed their excellent curriculam, dedicated academic staff and needed financial support to be a very successful Architect/Engineer in USA. The fifth oldest engineering college in the country established by sir M. Visvesvaraya. The college which facilitates liberty, flexibility and endless possibilities to students who have to depend on exploratory learning instead of spoon feeding. Though college is lack of facilities and systematics, college is great talent hub and provides top placements which many costly colleges can't.

No doubt. uvce is the best college. It teach us how to be a perfect individual but need some time to know about the college. Here students rule the college, students are free to think and can use any text books of any author. this is the only college that is capable of giving more than 5 offers to an individual. I myself got 7 offers from UVCE. proud to be an UVCIAN. If I get a chance to do my BE again I would definitely take UVCE as my first preference.
UVCE is the best thing that ever happened in my life.
