Review of Kinepolis Kirchberg :
Review of Kinepolis Kirchberg :
Due to the takeover by Kinepolis this cinema has become worse than imaginable. I loved it when it was still Utopolis, but now I hate it.
First: The quality of the restaurants and other stores in the building has become far worse that when it used to be Utopolis.
Second: Prices for movies are horrendous. Especially for long movies in 3D (around 15 per person + 3 for 3D glasses) yes you read right, they will not lend you 3D glasses but you have to buy them which makes a long duration 3D movie cost you around 18 euros per movie.
Third: You have to reserve your seat when buying it at the ticket counter. They will however not show you a map to see where your seat is. Last time I told them to give me a seat in the upper third in the middle, I ended up sitting in the 4th row on the edge. Furthermore they put strangers next to each other, which means that you will have no place to put your belongings since the seat next to you will always be occupied. Often the room is half empty, yet you have no space since they put everyone next to each other.
Fourth: They offer cosy seats that are not at all cosy. For an extra of 2 per person you will be able to sit in a lowered seat that is uncomfortable. You will not be able to see the movie well, since you sit way lower an the person in front of you will cover a part of the screen. Also you will not sit propperly and most likely end up having backpain. Only advantage is that nobody will sit next to you since there is a table installed instead of a seat. (If there was no seat reservation everybody had this advantage)
Fith: Seats are to small. There is simply not enough space.
Sixth: They screen lots of movies far later than the initial release date (ex. Suburbicon, initial release 27th October, Kinepolis screening mid December)
Seventh: I have not met one person that is sattisfied with Kinepolis, yet they have lots of positive reviews. Most of these reviews are about Utopolis and not Kinepolis. The other ones are fake and were obviously put there by Kinepolis itsef.
I could go on and talk about how the food they sell is expensive, not fresh, and not varried; that you are not allowed to bring your own food; how the staff is often unpolite; that the last screenings (except saturday) will be at 22h, that the movie will not start at the announced time (actually they will start showing 20 minutes of commercials at the time the movie should star); etc, etc, etc.
All in all this is a cinema that is very badly organised.
I am truly diappointed to what Kinepolis did to my beloved Utopolis. I am sure that most people would like to see this cinema under old management again (For your info : Kinepolis did not keep the Utopolis staff but fired everyone and replaced them with obviously uncompetent people)
Unfortunately there are no alternatives of cinemas in the capital and I will have to keep going to this lousy cinema as do most others.
I however hope that one day another big cinema will open in Luxembourg. For that cinema it will not be difficult to become the number one in Luxembourg in a very short time since their only concurrent would be the one described above.
Thanks for having read my comment :)
Have a nice day.
