Good place to be, I m in the business building right now. Teachers very friendly. And would recommend coming here if you need to go to college for the career you want. Or even if you just want to learn. Come on over and take a free tour of the place.

Does a good job suckin you dry through all the useless required courses that are required under the guise of "expanding your horizons". As a pilot I have to take a class on how people dress? Really? Would have never gone to college if I had known.

Nice people in a safe town. No complaints come to mind after spending three years here. Good education for the most part and didn't seem overpriced.

Utah State is an amazing college in a small college town. The campus is clean and beautiful with lots of greenery and open fields. The traditions here are so fun and get you involved. The only thing this town is missing is a Chipolte and a Target. GO AGGIES!

Great people. They gave me advice on which icecream to get. Easy going atmosphere. They were exited about their job. It is very family freindly. Good to get before a vacation up the canyon on a hot day. They have great prices on their icecream, food and drinks.

Inexpensive, no weird honor code, and decent diversity for being in Utah. Great programs all around, especially in elementary and secondary education programs, accounting, engineering, agricultural science, veterinary science, natural & wildlife resources, business, and family life sciences. School spirit is very strong and there are great and many opportunities to be successful academically and professionally. The virtually-on-campus LDS Institute is the oldest in the church educational system with excellent instructors and activities if you're a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. Top notch school over all.

I am currently a sophomore at Utah State and have been more then happy with the school. I have seen a few bad reviews on here and all the complaints sound like immature children who aren't responsible enough to be adults. Every staff member I've dealt with is kind and knowledgeable. I have had wonderful help with my academic skills from the Student Support Services. I changed majors a lot and struggled for a while but was helped the whole way. Not only that but my wife and I have been able to pay cash up front for me to finish and almost payed off all her student loans. When I graduate I will be debt free and able to earn a very decent living for my family. I once thought about transferring to another school and told one of my professors. He got almost all his associates in the program to convince me to stay and show that I was wanted and my success there mattered. With all these good things going it hasn't been perfect. I do think too much money is spent on the sports programs... but what University isn't that way. None would be financially stable without sports investors... which is society's problem not the university's. So I feel that any of these drastic complaints come from people who just haven't grown up enough to take responsibility for their actions. Utah State is a Grade A University that has always been highly influential in U.S. History. Take the time to give it the chance it deserves. And you won't have to go into a crap-load of debt to do so if you are smart.!

Aggies! A beautiful campus tucked up in the mountains. There are trees everywhere and open fields to play sports or lounge around on a nice warm day. There are a lot of events going on campus wide to keep you busy. What is really great is how the entire community rallies around the university. It is a very unique dynamic and very very fun!

they campus is nice most people are very nice you dont have to worry about a lot here but the programs here are very disorganized nobody knows what is going on and they are always changing the programs they do not help students who struggle in school or are a little slower you keep up or fail they dont give adequate time on tests they change prices and raise tuition and things all the time they say student comes before athlete its not true at all some professors care the majority of the programs and people in it dont really care they just want money i feel like the time i have spent here i wasted i have gone to classes where i knew more about the subject than the professor and the syllabus wouldnt follow the teachings they all need to get on the same page and make sure they are there for the students would never ecourage someone to come here
The staff was so rude and impossible to work with....
The staff was so rude and impossible to work with. They wouldn't put me on a payment plan when financial aid didn't cover all of the costs and they wouldn't give me any extensions on payment. I also ended up with holds on my account every semester for no reason (even they couldn't figure out why I had them). I had to go through this whole process of setting up a code phrase and being put on hold for a long time over the phone to get it cleared up. Halfway through my program, I found out that the state requirements for the job I wanted special education were changing and that I would have to add an entire major worth of math credits onto my existing course load to get the license I needed to teach special ed. If I had been informed of this up front, I would have chosen a different program. As it stands right now, I'm paying back the student loans with interest for college classes that are useless as far as helping me get a job. As if that wasn't bad enough, the program itself was crap. They stressed one method and one method only to teach the students. I told them that it wasn't working on my students and they told me to keep doing it and it would work. It never did and I wasted so much time in my classroom trying to teach students using a method that wasn't effective for their learning. I finally switched back to using methods that were taught to me in my gen ed program at a different university and things got much better. When I dropped out of the program they told me I had five years to finish or I would have to start all over. I don't have money to go back and get a whole new degree so I guess I wasted an entire year and several thousand dollars for nothing. In all fairness, my immediate professors were super cool and they did try to work with me to help me finish the program and work around my crazy life as a single mom, but since I needed only a fraction of the credits to get an endorsement to teach something (almost anything) else, it didn't make sense to stay in the program.

Admin could use improvement such as registration offices, financial aid, and front desk people (TSC) Most experiences with them, it has been OK. However, in ONE situation with my husband, they were disorganized. The Registration office / cashier's office lost my husband's paperwork, and he had to fix the problem twice. They did apologize but they committed the mistake twice. Very annoying.
Biology Department: I adore the staff. Professors are busy but if you utilize their office hours, email, asK pertinent questions, come prepared for class, and make an earnest attempt to develop a relationship, most professors will respond positively. This will not happen over night. I believe people that complain about the lack of attention from professors, I believe aren't utilizing all their resources or might not have a realistic idea about what these relationships entail. If you want your professor to spend lots of time with you, then a community or private institution might be more fitting. Professors have research, classes, meetings, mentoring, grad students, and more. Try to keep a realistic view about what you want from your professors. This is my personal opinion.
Biology Adviser: My adviser was patient and kind. There is one adviser that could use a little more patience and work on customer service. Personally, I don't go to my adviser for much but anytime I needed a question answered or required assistance, he/she came thru.
Campus: Beautiful, open space, in a small town. Lots of diversity for Logan Utah. Lots of team spirit with athletics. Something is always happening, if you look around and search. There are tons of research, social, and club opportunities if you simply take initiative and ask.
City of Logan: Small, lacking in palette diversity meaning not enough cultural / ethnic places to dine. People are wonderfully sweet. Clean and down to earth. Take advantage of the variety of nature trails. If you prefer a large city atmosphere, this is not the place for you. It is quiet city.
.
For some of the past reviews, I believe some didn't give a fair outlook on a variety of resources USU can offer. I truly hope this review helps for you. If you decide to into Biology and want to ask more about the department. I will be glad to answer some questions for you.

If you are a group minority (black, Hispanic, foreigner or any other minority group) don't expect to get a nice job on campus or to be well treated by the staff. You will be facing a lot of fake people who seem to treat you nicely at the beginning but turn around and they will stab you in the back. They're favorite term? "SORRY, WE CAN'T DO THAT" or "NO, WE WON'T BE ABLE" u will hear that A LOT ALL AROUND CAMPUS... stay 2 months and you'll know what I'm talking about. Oh yeah, the town is one of the most boring places I've ever been in my life! Nothing to do on weekends, luckily if you have a car you might want to spend some gas to go to salt lake every weekend.

I'm just about to graduate with a Master's Degree and have loved my entire experience here. Awesome new buildings, cool old buildings, great professors, and great students who make for great campus life. And you can't leave out the superb outdoor recreation available all around. The PE classes are a blast! To anybody coming to USU I highly suggest taking up rock climbing, mountain biking, trail running, and skiing/snowboarding. There's even a new ski resort opening up that is only 19 minutes away. They just opened up the ARC (Aggie Recreation Center) and my wife and I love the rock climbing and everything else that is available in there. Complete party, great place to learn to become a learner, fun professors, useful clubs and student organizations, all around great place to get your degree or degrees.

Very disappointed in a school that does not help it's own students. By it's own admission on their website they accept everyone but only 3% who apply but in accepting all these students to gain their money they don't even make sure that even basic needs for an incoming student is provided like enough housing or even parking. The shortage of housing verses students is ridiculous and even more ridiculous is that when they know there is an issue of overnight parking that they keep their parking lots closed to the very students they lured to their school making their lives miserable when they can easily help. They are quick to point fingers and claim it's not their problem. So thanks Utah State for being so good to your students. I would recommend to anyone considering this school to re-think if this is how they treat students.

I visited this library 2x on separate trips. I don't know about research at some campuses. The edu you get at some places is not uniform. Not inspiring. I knew a Mormon who went here named Paul Ludtke Master's degree in Biochemistry involving copper metabolites and he wanted to have me hop into the campershell he welded himself. I was trying to talk him into buying some cheap land in Huntington Beach. It was fun talking to him on the phone and being friends but I'd rather get with my cousin for fun. And my cousins studied classical music here but I think they should losen up and take on other interests besides classical music. Cousin Larry their dad built his own car from a kit in the 1980s and wanted to play basketball. Cousin Audrey a UC Davis Engineer and Naval Officer left that to manage an ice cream shop and left that to show English Springer Spaniels at the Cow Palace..

Nice facilities but the staff leave something to be desired. Can't speak to the faculty. We reserved a building to use for a community event and they said it would be ready. We arrived and that was not the case. They had to send security to come unlock the building. It apparently, "was on the calendar, we just missed it..." I hope they forget to look at cars that don't have parking passes!

Great school, not too big and I liked most of my teachers. Logan has a great small town feel with most anything you could want within 2 miles.

Lots of Mormons, the culture is a bit annoying. I made plenty of friends that would go drink or party but they're in the minority. There are cool Mormons as well but a ton of VERY conservative almost weirdos, the ones that couldn't get into BYU.
The school has some good programs but it is pretty lack luster in many areas. If you're looking for something excellent, there are only a handful of programs that would fit that bill.
The campus is far enough away from many students for them to stay home on weekends, but close enough that a large amount drive down. If you're gone, then you don't get the fun part of college, only the miserable homework part.
In short, you are able to find a good education and fun here but it isn't the norm for a lot of people. If you want excellence in either of those categories, look elsewhere. There are pockets of it though so if you must go to USU, you do have the opportunity to get the best of both worlds, it is just difficult to find sometimes.

Decent education, but good freakin' luck getting help with registration, scholarships, etc. No one will even answer the phone. 20,000 students on campus and they apparently can't pay them $8.00 per hour to answer the phone and try to help callers. This is despite paying over $500 per semester in student fees. As a high school career guidance counselor, USU is dropping off my suggestion list. And I'm an alum!

Overrated is the term I would use. Academically this school is awful. I transferred from Dixie State University with the impression that I would learn more and have a better experience here at Utah State. Which let me tell you, entirely false. There is not much opportunity to interact with your professors directly. Most of the learning I did was under the direction of graduate students in "optional" S.I. sessions. My tuition was also $553 more than what they're admissions office told me which is devastating when you're a poor college student. On top of that my academic advisors were rude and talked down to me. It's safe to say I will be transferring schools again.

I agree with the administration being rude and unhelpful. I thought my professors were all pretty good though. The town was awful. I went to school with my wife in Logan for 4 years and we moved out of state the day after graduation and got great jobs within a month. I'd say the school was so-so. The only thing I miss about Logan, UT is the Tandoori Oven indian restaurant.
