Worked there for a year. Administration and management really don t care at all. The hospital loses all kinds of money instead of treating patients. In the civil buildings they just let people wander around with NOTHING to do instead of trying to help. Every day it was so sad to watch. Us techs didn t know what to do except try and enforce order, which was hit-or-miss.
In the forensic area, patients have a lot more activities to do, and actually get spoken to more like people. Civil wonders why their patients act up so much, what a joke.
More than half of the nurses just blame everything on the techs and sleep.
Yet sadly, despite it all, this place will do more for patients than the privately owned hospitals owned by greedy, blood-sucking fiends.

I inquired about an ancestor who was a patient here over a hundred years ago, knowing that
1- documents probably no longer existed and
2- if they did it would take forever to find.
I got a prompt, kind, email back telling me they would do their best to find what they could. 4 days later, I received a packet of documents on behalf of my ancestors case.
Their service was kind, polite, they didn't "pass the buck", they didn't patronize me, they didn't ask for money, and the promptly sent me what I asked for.
I was so impressed with this institution and their wonderful staff. I will forever be grateful to them for their help.

The most precious period of my entire career was during the 20 years that I served there, 17 of which as Chaplain. To walk on the journey with patients and staff alike, was the most sacred and humbling experience of all. I love them, I miss them and hope that I may have touched at least a few lives for the better as they certainly did mine.

I took a tour of the state hospital to understand what a modern mental health facility looks like. Everyone was very helpful and accommodating. They showed me everything I could possibly want to see and answered all my questions. I am grateful for the work they do and the care they put into the safety of each patient.

I notice there are no reviews past 3 years ago...I wonder if it s because they want to cover up what they let happen 4 years ago at the adolescent unit. Do yourself a favor and take your kids to uni up at the u of u. Do Not trust your kids to this institution!!!!!!!!!! Get help elsewhere!

The girls youth dorms are big and nice. You can talk to other kids. The staffs are chill. They have amazing rt activities. My personal fave are VR, Library, and swimming. The rts have amazing stuff for the girls to do when we are stuck on dorm. One of my found memories is coco party. we made the cards and it was fun. Late nights are the best. So girls, keep your levels up! The first time you get there, the staff helps you out with the rules and stuff. The rns and nurses are super cool. Kit Kat will make you a blanket when you are the right level. Thank you very much for every thing guys!

The management did not follow the rules about the ratio of staff vs clients and female and male staff. They put my family at risk and I will be putting in an official complaint with the appropriate authorities.

I was a patient here and had an amazing therapist and the staff there were all amazing and understanding to all the clients there. When you get a high enough level you go on fun trips with the recreational therapists there. You have therapy so you have a chance to talk to someone if you need support or help. This is an amazing place if you are willing to make a change. The food may not be the best but they can't make everything good about a hospital. They don't want it to be so enjoyable you never want to leave. Special shout out to Tai, Lauren, Ally, Ramey, Aubrey, Greg, and every other amazing individual that works there. Keep up the amazing work.
